I look at the poke'dex description when I catch it, and use that info to name it, OR I take what it looks like as a animal in Real Life, and than tweak it a little.

A good ( and funny ) nickname for flygon is Fly-Gon-Jin I named my shiny flygon that

Hephaestus? God of the forge, I think, and has an affinity with fire. I actually named my Empoleon Poseidon - it's more fitting, as it even has a trident on its head .

I don't really like spongedude's nicknames. The names seem to forced, and hardly relate to the actual pokemon.

I just bred myself a bagon and called it Aryunamar. Imma call my bred Dratini, when I breed one, Bahamut. And my larvitar also hatched 5 minutes after I just said that, and I named it Schezaryth.

For Peal I decided since you're given 10 letters for each name I would think of some 6 letter word on the spot, and end it with 'Town' everytime ^_^

I tend to name Ziguzaguma because I like the ring of it's Japanese name. Then I tend to have named Ziguzaguma.

I called my Piplup "Emp". Then I had a Prinplup named Emp. I also had a Male Luxio called "Zippi", a Male Kadabra called "Twist", Male Budew called "Dewn", Female Starly called "Flutter" and a Female Onix called "ONIX". I forgot to nickname it, by accidently pressing no. Bother. Started a new game now. Called my Chimchar...Umm... I forgot...

Recently I deicided to name all my pokemon after food heh but the food has to start with the same letter as the pokemon's name I know...I'm lame.

Like Dussel I use real names for some of my pokemon, but not always with their first letter...or sometimes just what comes to my mind. Other times is when I go silly and give them REALLY stupid names...like what associates with their type or just freaky ones...like their names backwards...(did you know arbok is kobra, ekans is snake, and rotom is motor?)

I know.... they're lame and so dumb I just got the first syllable then added a "y" but you know you have to let it end in a consonant ex: butterfree - buttery

I don't usually nickname, unless special occasions, When I feel they need one. I've never really Liked nicknames, I suppose the most Substancial reason I'd nickanme is if I was searching for specific natures, And I'd nickname either the ones with unwanted natures..or the ones with Remarkable natures...Probably, I wouldn't prefer nicknaming unless it's for reference later on, when I'm searching through boxes of the same Pok'emon.....
