I know that I'm probably older than the average player of Pokemon, but I wonder how old is too old. Obviously, I'm selective about who I tell that I play it, but I have to wonder if I'm way over the Pokemon hill. I know that there must be older players if there are professionally made sites like this one, but is it mostly pre-teens that play?

Well, I'm 13 and I love to play Pokemon games although I don't advertise I do at school. That would be silly as I would get teased as others for liking Yu-Gi-Oh or Digimon or something along the lines of that.

You see Skull Kid, Amphy, TK, Frost etc etc are older than most people on here such as 20+ years. They still "do" Pokemon. Any age is what I say.

Theres no age limit on Pokemon really.

My Grandma like Eevee, shes 80 something. My friends cousin (1 year old), likes mucking about with the figurines or reading the magazines upside down.

Pokemon - For ages 0-100000000000 etc etc etc

I don't think there is really a given age to stop playing pokemon, its just when you grow out of it. I'm the oldest person I know (in real life) that plays pokemon  Lol I am 17 ;(

I'm 18, and I pridefully play Pokemon as often as I can. I even play it on my Gameboy at school quite a lot. And nobody would dare make fun of me, because of my high popularity and physical size would get them destroyed.

Feel no shame in playing Pokemon at any age. Sure, the theme may be aimed at a younger audience, but the material of the game itself is very complex, it's just as fun as other complex RPGs like the Final Fantasys.

I think there is no limit. I know a man who has white hair who still plays with the cards.

Meh, I'm 14. My dad likes Pikachu (he's 50), my mom likes Grumpig (she's 45 (i think)), and three/four of my friends still like them (Though Michael likes Yugioh a bit more...), and my cousins Emily and Ryan like them (Emily has Ruby/Sapphire, Ryan just likes the Pokemon).

Yeah, there's no general age limit. Heck, I can see myself aged 40-or-so and still liking and playing Pokemon (Though I doubt they'll have new Pokemon games then; it'll be way too many for one game  )

I think what makes Pokemon seem to be for little kids is the anime. It gives us all a bad name - every time people see me drawing Pokemon or whatever, they're like "Haha, you like Pokemon? Hey do you watch the show?" and no matter how I try and explain that no I do not watch the show, they never seem to get it. To the unitiated, Pokemon instantly equals the anime, which is exceedingly uncool, and I admit, mainly aimed at smaller children.

Me, I will like Pokemon until the day I die, or until someone else creates a form of magical creature with more variety, more power and more appeal to me. :D

Im 19 years old, going to college soon to work in Video game journalism. The way I see it......... Pokemon is part of the Video game industry like it or not.

If pokemon were for sertain age groups then Mario, Metroid, Animal Crossing etc would fall in the same line.

So, My answer: There's no age limit on the cover of a Video game case.

I just find it odd that my 5 year olds and I find the same game challenging. Of course, I also collect toys, watch cartoons and read comic books.

And by the way, I just turned 30 which makes me feel real old around here.

Im 20 years old, and i luv the game. I would like the show and movies if they made them alot more mature. Like take this idea for exmple. Imagine a movie of pokemon as violent as the Spawn series where all the pokemon decided to rebel against people. All poke balls are GONE! Also, the pokemon are more intent in killing people. All of the pokemon. And the legendary one-of-a-kinds have decided to become rulers of each region. People are merely surviving. NOW THAT WOULD BE A COOL MOVIE! But its just my opinion, and I hope I do not offend anyone with it.

People from different age groups play Pokemon differently, understand Pokemon differently, use Pokemon differently, deveope their strategies differently.

So that, there is not an ultimate too "old" for Pokemon.
As long as you play with your age group, you are never too "old".

Well, I'm 14 and I play the games, though I don't watch the Anime, When I get bored in lessons I just pull out my Planner and continue with my manga pokemon drawing that I've been working on since September, A lot of the people in my clas aren't that bothered that I like Pokemon, you see my class is about the only class in Year 9 that doesn't make fun of someone for what they like, I knwo quite a lot of people in my class taht liek Yugioh and Dragonball Z, well some of them are my friends. But to me there isn't any age to stop playing, hell I'll keep playing until the day I die or until my thumbs break, well the thoughts wouldn't require thumbs but the games would, and as a Hardcore Gamer my thumbs breaking is one of my worst nightmares, well I guess I could learn to play with my toes....... and remember, OCCULAR BLEEDING IS THE ONLY REASON TO IGNORE VIDEO GAMES!

I'm older than you & I like the games & the cartoon. I only picked it up a little less than a year ago when I was hospitalized & needed something to pass the time. I got some GB's & several games & accessories off ebay for my kids. I started off helping my daughter w/ Ruby & pretty soon I was hooked. I don't really care for the RBY or GSC since you can't trade up, but I regularly play FR/LG & R/S/E. I mostly focus on Emerald because I'm 2 pokes away from completing my Hoenn dex! (Darn Bagon, GIMME a freakin scale!) I'm up on Sat. at 10a to watch 2 episodes of Advanced Battle & hoping they aren't reruns!

If you enjoy doing something, there is no age limit. I'm not very athletic because of eyesight problems, but that doesn't make sports dumb or childish. Little kids to full grown adults can be found playing all kinds of sports, amature, as well as professional.

The stigma that make Pokeman generally seen as childish does come from the cartoon. The entity responsible for editing what we see here in the USA is entirely responsible for that! Many things are cut out or banned entirely because a few people think that we & our children are incapable of understanding foreign cultures & have decided for us that some things are inappropriate based on their opinions & not necessarily popular ones! I'll stop there because that could be a long discussion that has probably already been posted.

Point is, if you like it, do it! & if you want an old guy to trade with, hit me up!

I'm 20 and i still play, no one gives me greif about it (im 6'4", 200+lbs) ... i like pokemon because its a good strategy game... I admit that i sometimes still watch the show if it happens to be on when im watching tv, i wouldnt go to the cinema to watch the movies but if some hires a dvd or something i dont have a problem (but it is really annoying how these bunch of little kids always get caught up in such incredible tales, wouldnt really be 'entertaining' otherwise i suppose)...

I'm 25 years old and I play, watch, read and dream about pokemon. I like pets, i like strategy games, so I really love a strategy game involving pets!

There's no way any of us is too old to like pokemon. Think about one thing: how many people younger than 30 works in the pokemon enterprises (game developers, manga drawers, etc)?? They definitely have to think on pokemon all the time!!

I'm 19 and i still enjoy playing pokemon from time to time. At one point or another, I've owned every pokemon game that has ever come out (except Pokemon Puzzle Challange and Pokemon Pinball, there just gimmicky).

There isn't any age limit to something like this, or any thing else for that matter. Asking if you're too old to play video games is like asking if you're too old to drive or work, as long as you are still physically and mentally capable there is no age limit to anything in this world.

uh, sorry that went slightly off course. any way, my motto when it comes to video games is "Play to enjoy".

Besides, many people in the industry who actually make these games are far older than us.
