Wow what a contradicting statement. That's like saying "the new taste of Pepsi is bad but people still buy it more than they used to". If their creativity is down, why are the sales going up every generation? That doesn't make any sense. Also, just because YOU think the new Pokemon are "uncreative" doesn't mean they are. You're entitled to your opinion but don't say Gamefreak is losing their touch in the creativity department.

Actually, the way Pokemon and Game Freak go, it is more like "that new design on the bottle of Pepsi is ugly, but it is selling more and more because people love the taste"

Saying that people are entitled to an opinion but then telling them to not say they think Game Freak is losing their touch is a contradicting statement in it's own, don't ya think? I do agree with you though, Game Freak has yet to lose its touch. The new physical/special attack system and a lot of evos that made forgettable pokemon (sneasel!) actually usable, among other things, go to show that. That is my opinion though, and I can easily see why people think Game Freak is losing their touch (Lickilicky anyone?)

Personally I think that Pokemon will still go for a while, possibly even break the Mario record, but with Platinum it seems that Game Freaks creativness is droping. A fan, fridge, lawn mower, oven and washing machine/dishwasher pokemon ( {rotom} ) seems like a little drop in creativity to me

I think they'll end it, then bring it back worse like MMBN/SF.

I think they're eventually going to come out with an MMO.

You're so right on Face. Also, just because sales improve doesn't mean the quality of the product is improving. People don't necissarily buy something because it's good, often they buy it because they see the comercial and they can't think for themselves. It's called Commercialism, maybe you've heard of it.

im kinda even on this idea, true arceus could be the so called "omen" to the end of new pokemon.........but the games, books, shows, and of course fans will keep going on. just wait, in the year 2015, they make remakes of RSE series....prehaps....if theres technology like this to come....a vitual reality game where YOU ARE THE TRAINER!! (random thought)

I think the only way pokemon will ever end would be if GameFreak and Nintendo decided to stop FOR NO REASON. Meaning, there is every reason to keep it going.

The "creativity debate" is irrelevant anyways. Nintendo has perhaps the greatest selling system of all time with these games at the moment. The games are consistently great, which keeps the fans from RBY playing, and they're all E rated games that appeal to children as well, thus they have a steady stream of people who haven't played ALL the games yet (hence the remakes!) and are less likely to become burned out on the franchise. Rinse and repeat. The fact that they DON'T rush new generations out into the market not only allows for lots of spin-off/remake time, but also allows time for new improvements/ideas/etc to be developed, and in my opinion, DPP were the best games by far, and RSE was better than GSC, and GSC was way better than RGY.

So basically you're looking at a franchise that appeals to all markets, almost all age groups (I talked pokemon to a 45-ish year old dude at work last month), and consistently produces better and better games. Yeah, I'm betting pokemon goes on and on and on.

Also, to be honest, I think many of the "they're out of ideas" arguments are constructed without any real thought into it. Just because you couldn't come up with anything new doesn't mean GameFreak can't, plus that argument has been around since RBY.

Yep.

I find it unlikely. So far, each game of each generation has had some sort of novel new idea so it doesn't look like they're running out of ideas.

Also, if anyone is worried about it, think about it this way.

If they did stop making Pokemon games, all the fans would be outraged. Not to mention in Japan they take it to further extremes than we do (They have entire stores dedicated simply to Pokemon. Actual Pokemon Centers) so they'd be idiots.

I agree with the idea that Pokemon may in end on a sour note. However, I don't think hardcore fans will grow to hate it. I believe it will continue to grow strong. I remember when FR/LG was coming out, a guy at Gamestop asked me if I wanted to put money down to reserve a copy. The guy he was working with said "Wow, they're coming out with another Pokemon? Will it ever end?"

Honestly, I hated the idea of D/P... until I played it. Although the creativity seems to be ebbing away, believe you me, GameFreak has quite a few more aces up their sleeves. Hardcore fans of the series arent going to drop like flies just because of possible bad moves made in the series. Pokemon will keep going strong. Plus, I read somewhere that pikachu is one of the most recognizable characters in existence. more people can identify a picture of pikachu than of noah's ark. Anyone who believes a series of that magnitude (haha.. geodude..) is gonna die outanytime soon is mistaken.

really? more recognizable than Noah's Ark? well thats all the evidence I need. There is no possible way that Pokemon may be winding down anytime soon

I think its far from the end
There is still plenty of "mythology" to be used,
besides, they can create a whole lot of other "god" Pokemon, the world doesnt have only one "religion" per say
And there are plenty of pokemon that deserves a evolution

Why would it end? It obviously won't, since Game Freak would have to be incredibly stupid to drop a series that just gets them more money each time.

I acually came up with a really awesome plot for the final Pokemon movie that would end the franchise. It involves a global battle between the world's trainers and invadeing Pokemon from space. I'll problably give you the details in the Fan Fiction Forum.
