I want to know what you think is the most useful pokemon of all time. It can be from any generation just I want to see which pokemon is very useful and which pokemon is useless.

in my opinion it would be something that has
1) a good type or type combination
2) not too many weaknesses, but plenty of resistences
3) great movesets with good stab attacks (if it is an attacker) which are varied enough that you cant just look at it and know what its moveset is
4) an ability that can really be used (like intimidate, but not like illuminate).
as many of those as possible and there you have it.

I don't think there is really a "most useful" pokemon. All pokemon can be "useful", given a good moveset and advantageous distribution of EV's.
But I do think there can be a "most useless" pokemon, and that might be Magikarp. I love Spash to death, but it does nothing for me in battle. So BLAH. Tackle and Flail don't even do much in Magikarp's moveset, other than give it the ability to defend itself *somewhat*.

Most useful, or at least one of them - Tropius. *huggles HM slave*
It can learn Cut, Fly (which isn't all that bad in-game), Strength, Flash, and Rock Smash (in PD, Clear Fog).
Most useless - Unown. Magikarp would be but it evolves into Gyarados, which is *very* useful. These things would do better stuck to a refrigerator.

magikarps can actually be quite useful in the battle frontier. i came up against one once and this is what happened:
1. starmie used thunderbolt. magikarp hung on using its focus band. magikarp used flail. about 30-40% damage!!
2. same thing again.
3. its focus band didnt work this time and i killed it, but if it did, i would have had the probably unique claim to have been defeated by a magikarp!
its embarrassing to admit that, but...well.....hax......

The most useful would be Mew. It can learn any TM/HM.

Dragonite. It was probably the most powerful 1st gen pokemon and remained up there in all the future generations.

Magikarp is most useful, it says it in the psydex!
But seriously, gyarados can learn fly, surf, and I think cut and strength, its the only pokemon anyone would ever need! unless you need flash, rocksmash, etc.
PS:, you are not alone, I think dragonite just doesnt look as kool as it should have.
Dragons are evil devices of death, usually black, huge, flying, slendor, reptillian, fire breathing, evils. Dragonite is cute, chubby, smooth, mint breathing, one horned, happy, dinosour that couldnt fly for its life. I expected to see it on barney.
Yet, its new D/P art looks rather, slendor. That, and I taght mine flamethrower. Shiny is green, and I guess, with the right people, it could be 3v!l. that and I have one on my team.
In other spam, I also think the best dragon pokemon in the game is dragonair (look-wise) and that doesnt look evil either.

My opinion:
Most useful: Typhlosion, all the way. He learns Flame Wheel (it has the same PP as Ember, and it unfreezes himself!), Swift, Flamethrower, and has high speed? To die for! Come, Fire Boy Senior! (my Typhlosion's nickname)
Most useless: Well, it's not Magikarp because he becomes Gyarados, it's not Unown because they're actually decent. The most useless Pokemon is definitely Hoppip. Horrible stats, gets nailed by Ice types, doesn't learn Tackle until level 10, and starts with Splash? Puh-leeze.

It doesn't get Fly.
The <s> usefulest </s> most useful Pokemon would be Tropius or Sharpedo. Hooray for HM Slaves!

Metagross. It's even more powerful than a dragonite! They rock your socks and they cream the battle frontier. They deserve to be a legendarie!

Different attacks. Though I don't use him much because I'm trying to make a non-legendary group, Groudon. Ground, Fire, and Grass - what else do you need?

I think my Wailord (In Emerald) is the most useful. It knows surf, waterfall, strength, and dive. That's 4 HM's already. In Emerald I am trying to complete my pokedex (Only a few more pokemon to go !) So when I'm out where ever I am trying to catch pokemon it's useful to have a pokemon that knows HM's.
Magikarp is deffinatly the most worthless.

I think it should be:
someone very strong
someone with good stats
someone that helps you throughout the game
and someone you feel that is useful.
to me, it all adds up to, Wurmple.
lol just fooling, my Torterra on PD got me through more than half the game, so I choose him.
