The only exceptions i can see is if you two are dating in real life, and one of the couple has to go far away for a while and the only option is internet, then thats ok for a while. Probably meeting people online then taking it to Real life. But internet dating is just pointless you can't express emotion and effection and all those other things that goes with dating through the internet, and dont be funny by saying "emoticons". Some guy in the US was "online dating" some girl in Australia. It's pointless because chances are they will never be able to meet. You can't get to know someone well enough to date them just by talking over the internet.

So she thought I was an over the web girlfriend. But that's beside the point. Online relationships can be just a good or has bad as real relationships. I wouldn't date, but having a platonic relationship has worked out in the past with me. Although loosing contact with that someone can be sad.
