Way back when, when gas was actually around $3 instead of around $4, I made a topic angrily ranting about how expensive $3.19 was. Looking back, I'd move planets to have $3.19 again. Gas is...simply put, insane. It's unpredictable and a burden. As much as I would love not having to use my car, I really do need it.

At least prices have gone down a little this week. Last week gas here was $3.999; now, it's $3.899. Share your prices and rant along.

Gas costs the equivalent of $8+ dollars a gallon in Europe.

But their towns are smaller and more compact as compared to the US, or at least my town: where everything is miles apart. So they use less gas than we do, even though the price is insane there anyways.

In my city, gas has been as high as $4.83, however, right now its around $4.45, so I rounded up and clicked the second highest option. Its horrible, my car, a small X3, uses enough, and my dad says that I have to pay about 2/3 of all the gas I buy, meaning if I put $30 on my debit card for gas, then I have to pay 20 and he'll pay 10, which is SO MUCH for someone without a job. ;-;

The gas prices have made it even harder for me to go places. I live thirty minutes from the closest city and my closest friend lives fifteen minutes away. I don't know the exact mileage but the speed limit alters between 45 and 65 to any place worth traveling. My mom will take me places whenever my sister doesn't have the car and luckily. she doesn't make me pay for gas. She will when I am old enough for a job though.

It's like $3.50 or something around here. God I wish Congress would get off its ass.

Where I am it's stuck at around $3.90, give or take 5 cents depending on the various companies that provide gas to our nation. My truck only gets around 19 mpg, and we have public transportation (though I'm afraid to use it for certain reasons...)

If I could afford a bike I wouldn't be complaining.

Gas was $3.99 here last week, currently $3.93. I only drive about a mile to work, so it's not that much of a problem for me. There is no public transportation in the town I live in with a population of just over 7000, so we're on our own as far as gas goes.

It just went down to $4.04 up here by me in Wisconsin. Pricy, especially considering since my family and I do a lot of stuff at Marshfield, like shopping, our jobs, school, etc. And that's over 20 miles away from our home.

Expensiiiiiiiive.

Oh yeah, just last week it was above $4.20 and I filled up. Then the next day is when it went down to $4.04. ;[

Gas was $3.86 the other day when I filled up.

Interestingly enough, there's a refinery about 10 miles from my house. But none of the gas they manufacture goes to gas stations around here; it all gets shipped to the east coast. Why? Because the worthless EPA says that they need special gas out there, and this refinery has the facilities needed to meet those standards.

If you eliminate worthless government agencies like the EPA that mandate that gasoline made here in the states has to be shipped all over the country rather than used locally, and instead allow refineries to supply to their local markets, I guarantee gas prices would plummet simply from the lack of absurdly incurred shipping costs.

You guys are all so lucky. ;-; I wish gas prices were less than at least $4.00 here. Then again, I do have to drive a bit less than you do, but I still have to drive nonetheless. I really should have taken the Miata when my dad offered. But no, I have to go for something that will screw me over when Bush does. ;-;

It's about $4.19 here, and it's the main reason why I barely drive anywhere anymore.

It's about $4.40 here if I remember correctly, but I'm not the one that chooses when and where to drive. It does have an effect on me, but it's not as severe.

I was actually just about to say something about this. I was driving home from work today, and I saw a sign that said gas was $3.77 and I almost **** a brick. It's been like $3.85-3.99. I'm sure it was above the $4 mark but it hasn't been over that mark for much longer than a few days. This is another good explanation for my indigence.

I wouldn't hold your breath. They're like a family on welfare. They haven't done anything for six years, and I think they're starting to like it. It's really easy to do absolutely nothing.

PS For anyone who is unaware, foreign countries sell by the litre. At $3.89 USD, an American gallon of gasoline costs £1.95, €2.45, $3.91 CAD, $3.99 AUD, and $5.10 NZD; that's £0.51, €0.64, $1.02 CAD, $1.04 AUD, and $1.34 NZD per litre (vs. $1.02 USD/L). Two years ago, I paid $1.07 per litre of gas in Canada, but I don't know how much it is now anywhere else.

The gas stations around town range from about $3.85 to $4.10 a gallon.

Over the next 5-10 years I'm guessing we'll see our roads start to look a little more like Europe's...

Did anyone follow that executive order to lift the ban on offshore drilling?

you know, the government said that they have enough gas stocked up in storage to last amerca five years. did anyone else see that. i remember when gas was 2.98 a gallen now its at 4.89. its costing us more to transport the gas. also it's almost impossible to eat healthy here because of the gas. (prices... to.. high *cough* need.. nutrients)

The American fixation with large engine, gas-guzzling cars will be forced to end sooner or later.

It is $7.57 here

I thaught I was lucky, because we use litres instead of gallons, $1.999 a litre sounds a lot less expensive than $7.567 a gallon :(

Tom: Why should it?

The companies continue to manufacture such cars for people who need to feel superior and for soccer moms, said people continue to buy them, continue to waste gas and drive prices up. In the end, everyone's making money off of it; what could possibly be more American than screwing everyone over in the name of the bottom line?

Using a car for a quarter of that is why this planet is dying. :/

Right, because they've actually linked undeniably the increased death of animal species or the "rise in global temperature" to increase levels of carbon monoxide.
