This argument was on BBC news breakfast recently. Most people (including me) have a strange obsession with bubble wrap. If there's any psychologists here, it would be AWESOME if you explained it. Anyway, there's this new Japanese gadget out called Puchi Puchi, which is supposed to be like infinite bubble wrap. Has anyone tried one of these? Will anything ever replace bubble wrap?

Exactly how well will it simulate that exact pleasure you get out of squeezing down on a plastic bubble so much that the plastic itself is torn from the pressure, creating the exploding popping noise. With this gadget, you just basically click down on a spongy button. Seems quite dissatisfying.

Although:

Quote:

Bandai designed the toy with the Puchipuchi bubble wrap company, so it’s almost guaranteed to be the most realistic bubble wrap simulator on the market. Pop.

The Japanese marketing ploy:

Nice yellow teeth there mate.

Man I wanna be a nerdy Asian with a pointy wrist who carries around a popping gadget so I can get all the girls!

I am definitely going to get one of those I just LOVE bubble wrap. Whoever invented this should be the richest man/woman in the world!

I like the way it feels, especially when my fingers come together on both sides, which is why I find that twisting it to be far less satisfying. I probably wouldn't like this product for that reason.

It's the same concept as a balloon: cracks pass through the bubble at the speed of sound. The noise you hear is the breaking of the sound barrier. :D

But the fun is making them explode, along with the feeling of feeling something explode.
