The official Pokemon site updated with information on the four new Pokemon revealed in Corocoro. Shishiko's English name is Litleo, Furabebe is now Flabébé, Scatterbug is the base form of Vivillon while Spewpa is confirmed to be the middle evolution.
Under the Characters and Story tabs, the official site also confirms the English names of the humans revealed in Corocoro. The hefty guy with the Vanillite shirt is Tierno, the redheaded little boy is Trevor and the spastic girl is Shauna. Despite official screenshots referring to the protagonists as Xavier and Yvonne, it seems that the character whom you don't pick is called Callum or Serena, as in Japanese, with your hometown being Vaniville Town. Gym Leader Viola retains her Japanese name, although she is now the Santalune City Gym Leader and a professional Pokemon photographer; her older sister, Alexa, is the character known as Pansy who has a Gogoat.
Other tidbits on the official site: Scatterbug is 1', 5.5 lbs, learns String Shot (surprise!) and can survive in any climate; Spewpa is 1', 18.5 lbs and learns Protect; Flabebe, 4" and 0.2 lbs, draws power from its flowers when using its attacks and Litleo, who is 2' and 29.8 lbs, has the new move War Cry, known as Noble Roar in English, which lowers the target's Attack and Special Attack.

In addition to the five new Pokemon and information revealed at the E3 festivities yesterday (see the previous post for those), the July 2013 Corocoro leaked last night, revealing four MORE new Pokemon and several new characters from XY!
Shishiko, the Young Lion Pokemon, is a Normal/Fire-type who is quick to start fights, in which its red bangs radiate heat and increase in temperature against tough opponents. They live together in packs until they grow strong enough to leave and live on their own. It is 0.6m tall, weighs 13.5 kg and can learn the new move War Cry, which lowers the opponent's Attack.
Furabebe, the Single Flower Pokemon, is a pure Fairy-type who finds a flower upon its birth and stays with it for the rest of its live. At 0.1m tall and 0.1kg, it a tiny little Pokemon who can learn Gardevoir's confirmed new move Fairy Wind.
Vivillion was revealed yesterday, but Corocoro reveals its two pre-evolutions Kofuurai and Kofukimushi. It is important to note that the official Spanish XY site says that Vivillion evolves from a Pokemon named Spewpa, so that is likely the English name for one of these two pure Bug-types. The first form, Kofukimushi, is 0.3 tall and weighs 2.5kg; it evolves into Kofuurai, who is the same size but weighs 8.4kg and evolves into Vivillon.
These two women are new characters. On the left is Pansy, a Gogoat Trainer who will appear in the anime on July 18; on the right is Viola, the first Gym Leader, who specializes in Bug-type Pokemon at Hakudan City, and whose Gym contains the giant spider web seen in a recent XY trailer. It's important to note that a female Bug-type specialist is a series first.
The player's hometown is Asame Town in Japanese, and these three people are the main character's friends Tieruno, Toroba and Sana. Screenshots on the official English site and trailers seem to indicate that the main character is named Xavier (Callum in Japan) while the female is Yvonne (Serena in Japan). Like in HeartGold and SoulSilver, the player character that isn't your own is your neighbor.
Pokemon's official Twitter account was livetweeting during the Pokemon roundtables last night. Among the new developments is that you can play XY in one of seven different languages, the English script has 1.8 million words, the new PSS (Player Search System) allows players to find others locally or globally for battles and trades, and Flying-type and certain other Pokemon like Levitators can take part in Sky Battles, as shown in footage between Talonflame and Haunter.
In addition to eight-directional movement, another new feature is Horde Battles, in which you can fight up to five Pokemon at once with a single Pokemon. During the Q&A session, compatibility with older games was considered a possibility; EVs and IVs will play a more visible role; Pokemon Red/Blue (and presumably other main series games) will not be on the 3DS Virtual Console; the Kalos Region is obviously based on France because GameFreak wanted to focus on beauty; and the Fairy-type was created to address the imbalances of the type chart. A rival was confirmed, possibly multiple, and there will likely be an evil Team, but they hesitated to comment on Mewtwo's new form(s?).
Skrelp, Talonflame and Clauncher, who were added to yesterday's news update when they were added to the official Pokemon site, were all confirmed at E3 beforehand.
Nintendo Direct Reveals New Pokemon, Type, Release Date, and more![permalink]
Posted by Frost on 11 Jun 2013 at 9:52am PDT Updated on 12 Jun 2013 at 12:30am PDT
E3 Nintendo Direct just took place and revealed a ton of new information, including confirming a worldwide release day of October 12, 2013. Additionally, five new Pokemon have been revealed:
Noivern the Sound Wave Dragon/Flying-type Pokemon Noivern is 4' 11", 187.4lbs and learns a move called Boomblast that damages all adjacent Pokemon. Noivern is extremely combative toward anything that wanders too close to it. It flies through even the darkest nights using ultrasonic waves it emits from its ears. This Pokemon loves fruit, and feeding it fruit will keep it calm.
Vivillon the Bug/Flying-type Vivillon is 3' 11", 37.5lbs and can learn Struggle Bug. Vivillon uses its wings to scatter its scales or create a strong wind to attack. Vivillon is said to have a secret hidden in the colorful decorative pattern on its wings.
Talonflame the Fire/Flying type An evolved form of the recently announced Fletchling, Talonflame is a Fire- and Flying-type Pokemon that gains a whole new level of speed and firepower. It dives at foes, and then attacks with devastating kicks. Talonflame is 3' 11", 54lbs and can learn Brave Bird.
Clauncher the Water type Clauncher is 1' 08", 18.3lbs, and is easily recognizable by the oversized claw on one of its arms. This useful claw can seize prey and shoot water at others as a projectile! Clauncher's enormous claw can also crack boulders when the Pokemon is at close range. Clauncher can learn the high-critical hit move Crabhammer.
Skrelp the Poison/Water type Disguised by its shape, Skrelp pretends to be a piece of seaweed. When prey gets too close, Skrelp bathes it in poison to keep it from struggling. Skrelp is 1' 08", 16.1lbs, and learns the move Sludge Bomb.
Additionally, the rumors are true: the Fairy-type has been confirmed, and Sylveon is a Fairy-type Pokemon. Additionally older Pokemon have been reclassified as Fairy-types including Marill, Jigglypuff and Gardevoir, who all gain Fairy in addition to their existing types. Fairy has been confirmed to be Super Effective against Dragon-types, and two new Fairy-type moves are known: Sylveon's Moon Blast, which lowers the target's Attack, and Gardevoir's Fairy Wind.
A new feature called Pokemon-Amie will allow you to interact with your Pokemon on the 3DS, affecting their friendship levels, which is also said to play a bigger role with your Pokemon's strength level in XY. Larger Pokemon like Snorlax will take up both screens of the 3DS, which is pretty cute!

Update: the English Pokemon site was updated today, Tuesday May 14, with English names and background information about these Pokemon, characters and the story/Region. Information has been added to the news post below. Many more screenshots can be seen at the links provided.
First, we have Gogoat (Japanese name Gogoto), a Grass-type goat who is featured prominently in the new issue. Some screenshots even show the player riding around on top of a Gogoat through a crowded city. At 1.7m/5'7" and 91kg/200.6 lbs, it can also use the move Horn Leech and is known as the Ride Pokemon. The site states, "Gogoat is so large that people are able to ride on its back. It's very calm, and can form a strong bond with its Trainer's feelings when its Trainer grabs onto its horns."
Next up is Pancham (Japanese name Yanchamu), a Fighting-type panda bear whose species translates as the Naughty Pokemon, as the official site states, "With its trademark leaf always sticking out of its mouth, Pancham tries to intimidate its opponents by glaring at them intensely (although this is rarely successful)." At 0.6m/2" and 8kg/17.6 lbs, it learns a new move, Parting Shot that lowers the opponent's Attack and Special Attack stats and then forces Pancham to switch out.
Third is Helioptile (Japanese name Erikiteru), a Normal/Electric-type lizard Pokemon and the first XY Pokemon confirmed to have a new type combination. In addition to learning a new Electric-type variation of Giga Drain known as Parabolic Charge, Helioptile is 0.5m/1'8" tall, weighs 6kg/13.2 lbs and is known as the Generator Pokemon, as the site states: "Helioptile charges itself by bathing in the light of the sun, providing it with enough energy that it doesn't need to eat!"
Lastly is Fletchling (Japanese name Yayakoma), a Normal/Flying-type Japanese robin who has the ability to use Flame Charge. The site states of it, "With a friendly nature and a beautiful chirp, Fletchling is a popular Pokemon among many Trainers. But Fletchling is also known to be ferocious in battle, capable of unleashing relentless attacks!" Its species translates to the Robin Pokemon. It is 0.3m/1' tall and weighs only 1.7kg/3.7 lbs.
Other information we have includes that the game takes place in the Kalos Region (Karosu in Japanese) region, which is shaped like a star and is divided into subregions. A major city, and the one shown in videos so far, is Lumiose City, which is based on France.
Also, when choosing a character there are now some basic customization options for each gender, including hair and skin color, with slight variations between each style. Although the first images seem like there are set physical options, another set of screenshots show your characters in a mirror, which allows you to customize their accessories and clothing.
Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie's species are the Chestnut, Fox and Bubble Frog Pokemon, and Chespin's moves include Tackle, Growl, Vine Whip and Rollout, Fennekin's starting mvoesets are Scratch, Tail Whip, Ember and Howl, while Froakie begins with Pound, Growl, Bubble and Quick Attack. New blurbs about the personalities of each starter, as well as the Legendaries and Sylveon, can be seen on the official site's new Pokemon page as well.
Many thanks to Rhapsody for cleaning up the images for me.
New Mewtwo Forme Revealed on Pokemon Smash and Pokemon.com[permalink]

As many of you probably know, a poster for the sixteenth movie leaked about a week ago that had a new Pokemon that looked highly similar to Mewtwo, causing discussion that the new games/movie would feature a new form of Mewtwo. We decided not to post it here because nobody was certain of the legitimacy of the images... but now that the creature featured in the posters has official confirmation, here it is:
It's important to note that the none of the official sources have confirmed whether this is an alternate form of Mewtwo or a separate Pokemon who is related to him, like how Mewtwo and Mew are separate but related Pokemon. No other information about the Pokemon was given out, but a short video of Newtwo in action against Rampardos is also featured on the official XY page. I should reiterate that we can't jump to conclusions about what exactly "Newtwo" is; many expected Luvdisc and Alomomola to be related when BW came out, and that turned out to be false!
ETA: Corocoro leaked on Friday, April 12, and confirmed that the new Pokemon is indeed, a new forme of Mewtwo.

Last night, pictures from the March edition of Corocoro were leaked, revealing that Generation VI will introduce a new evolution for Eevee named Ninfia, making it the sixth Pokemon from XY to be revealed. (It's important to note that unlike when the Starters and Legendaries were revealed last month, Ninfia is obviously the Pokemon's Japanese name.) Ninfia's type is unknown, but its height is 1m and its weight is 23.5kg. It will be featured the upcoming Pikachu short in the Japan, while Mewtwo will also be featured in the sixteenth Pokemon movie starring Genesect. Pokemon Smash was scheduled to reveal some big news next weekend, but it will probably just be covering these revelations again.
Pokemon X and Pokemon Y Names Revealed![permalink]

This morning on the official English Pokemon site, a small update was made to give us the English names of the (presumably Legendary/mascot) Pokemon that resemble a Y-shaped bird and a deer with X-shaped antlers.
The Y-shaped bird Pokemon is now known as Yveltal (pronounce the "Yve" part like "eve") while the deer-like Pokemon is Xerneas (pronounce the X as a Z). Like most Legendary Pokemon, they retain these names across several languages.

Nintendo's first official broadcast of the year has revealed some exciting news! Two new Pokemon games are going to be released for the Nintendo 3DS. Pokemon fans, we have generation six: Pokemon X and Pokemon Y!
For the first time in Pokemon history, the game will be released across all regions simultaneously in October 2013. Gameplay footage looks impressive, with lush environments in full 3D.
The battle scenes follow suit, demonstrating a dynamic and fluid camera that is more akin to Colosseum/XD-style battle.
Furthermore, the three starters have been announced: Chespin the grass starter, Fennekin the fire starter, and Froakie the water starter.
We've also had a look at the new legendaries too, though their names have not been announced!
The full video is available for viewing at the Nintendo Direct Archive. Exciting times ahead! What features are you wanting in these new games? Will you be getting them when they come out?
Just a quick little note from me tonight. We've had our second issue with the database throwing some odd little errors in the last couple weeks. I'm running some diagnostics on the backend to try to figure out what's up.
What this means to you is that the site might be running a little bit slower than usual as we head into the new year. So, don't sweat it if pages start taking an extra second or two to load. But do tell me if they stop loading all together. That would be bad.
Also, I hope you all have had and continue to have a happy holiday season and end of the year. I'll have some more interesting news for you all next time, promise.
