Behind the Scenes
- Jigglypuff at 10:45 pm PST 11 Nov 2008
I suppose I should make an official statement that we have, in fact, not died, huh?
The site is alive and well, I assure you. I'd like to start by reminding you to check out not only the full Diamond and Pearl Section, but also the Platinum Section. Most of note, of course, is the Full Platinum Walkthrough, which has been quite popular since it was posted.
Now, why hasn't there been a news post in a month. Well, quite simply, most of my efforts on the site for the past month have been just fixing up little things here and there, and getting the site ready for when Platinum makes its official English debut.
I'd like to take this opportunity to say that if there are any suggestions you have as far as things you'd like to see covered in the meantime, or upon the English release of Platinum, feel free to drop us a line. If it's feasible and useful, it'll get added to the list.
In the mean time, I'll do my best to at least keep you all more in the loop as far as what's going on. No more long pauses between updates, save for the ever-approaching finals week.
Whispers From the Silence
- Jigglypuff at 11:21 am PST 15 Oct 2008
I know, I know, it's been a while since I posted an update. We're not dead, we're just busy. And with the Platinum Section up and running for a few weeks now, there hasn't been much to report on.
That being said, we've been keeping ourselves busy. There have been several bug fixes around the site in the past couple weeks. In addition to that, I've been looking into restructuring the Platinum Section to make it a little more organized. It's a work in progress.
Lately our attention has been focused on the forums; both fixing up some problems and planning. For those of you not familiar with the community, we like to have a little fun for Halloween, and we use the forums and the chats to do that. If you haven't been around for the celebrations before, you should sign up and join us this year.
Words Words Words

We've updated the Psydex with the missing piece of the Platinum Jigsaw: the move tutors!
Some other minor updates:
- The TechDex includes the translation of the Japanese name of the attacks, which helps explain which certain moves behave the way they do. For example, Sucker Punch isn't actually a kind of punch and hence does not get boosted by Iron Fist.
- The Google Search Bar, if you haven't noticed, searches the Psydex by default. This has been upgraded to take you to alternate forme pages, so searching for "Shaymin Sky" will take you to the correct page
- The Platinum walkthrough for Victory Road and the Pokemon League has been added
- All the Platinum front sprites are now available in the Picdex. The back sprites take a while to process, and most of them are the same as Diamond and Pearl, so these are low priority but they will be added eventually!
- For your convenience, the version selector in the Psydex now persists across pages.
Platinum Overhauls and Walkthrough
- Jigglypuff at 12:00 am PST 21 Sep 2008
In addition to all the changes made to the Platinum Section that you'll see in the previous update, I have the following to inform you about from this previous week.
First off, the TechDex has been updated to show all the new levels for Platinum. Hypnosis also shows its updated accuracy.
The big news, however, is that our Platinum Walkthrough is written all the way through the eight gym battles. All that remains is Victory Road to the Elite Four, and that will be posted shortly.
And we're not done, either. Keep an eye out for more news before the weekend is over and I'm back in class.
EDIT: Ok, so it's TECHNICALLY Monday night, but we do have Platinum Sprites added to the PicDex. The regular sprites are processed already, and the shiny and back sprites are being taken care of now; they'll be added as they're completed.
Something Secret This Way Comes
- Jigglypuff at 11:19 pm PST 10 Sep 2008
We're hard at work on the site... whatever could it be?
Oh, look at that. All of the Platinum Level-Up Attacks have been added to the Psydex, along with Platinum Locations. This includes information for Origin Giratina, Sky Shaymin and all Rotom formes, which have the same set of level-up attacks.
The Platinum Sinnoh Dex numbers are listed now too.
And while we're at it, a list of new level-up moves in Platinum for your convenience. With that, a list of Version Exclusives too.
The pages for all of Rotom's new formes are functional.
Gym Leaders and Elite Four + Champion's rosters are up, both for their first encounter as well as their second encounter.
The only change to the TechDex...is that Hypnosis is now 60% accurate (What it used to be in RBY GSC RSELGFR), which is down from 70% in Diamond and Pearl.
In accordance with the updates to the level-up moves, the World Map has been updated to include these locations as well.
While I'm at it, why not check out our new Amnesia Attack, the one for all the New Sinnoh Dex Pokemon in Platinum?
And the info keeps filtering in...
One Week
- Jigglypuff at 12:00 am PST 6 Sep 2008
No, I didn't modify the update time; it actually is 2am my local time and I'm posting this.
I'll start off by apologizing for disappearing for so long. I've been back on campus for a week now and classes and work are getting back into full swing. However, I'm pretty well settled in now and should be getting back to regular updates. Good thing too, since next weekend is going to be busy for us.
You may have noticed that about a week ago, I made some slight revisions to the Platinum Section to start getting things better organized for when Pokemon Platinum releases in Japan next week.
In addition to that, I've been compiling some guides for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Space that sN0wBaLL has written up for us. You'll now find everything you need to know about the starters, the personality test, and auras. More guides, obviously, will follow as sN0wBaLL has time.
Oh yeah, sN0w also wrote up a little introduction section for the Wii Ware title Pokemon Ranch for our Wii users out there.
For now, that's all I've got. I'll try to get some more work done (probably mostly prep work) this week. Expect the big update next weekend.
Screenshot Extravaganza
- Jigglypuff at 7:04 pm PST 25 Aug 2008
Sorry I didn't get this posted within the other update, but I ran out of time. Quite frankly, I think this deserves to be on its own anyway.
I've added a massive update to the Platinum Section with a good deal more info. More importantly, however, I've added 30 new images to the Screenshots Page.
Tomorrow, between rounds of packing, I hope to be able to add a few more updates as well.

Holding a Place in Line
- Jigglypuff at 11:40 am PST 23 Aug 2008
I've been immensely busy lately, but I'm hoping to try to get some site updates taken care of today; I'll just keep editing them into this spot.
For now, I can tell you that we have two new Attack Type Analyzers to go with the original one there. There are now special ones for GSC and for RBY. These tools are incredibly useful for helping you plan your teams to maximize your ability to take reduced damage.
Since then, I've gone ahead and fixed an error in the moves learned in Pokemon XD.
Next up was a quick fix to an error in the TechDex Search feature.
Hopefully more updates to come before the day is out.
I Forgot to Tell You Something
- Jigglypuff at 1:14 pm PST 14 Aug 2008
Namely, that I've been working on the site a bit, as usual. The biggest thing to note is that I've updated the Platinum Section again as of the other day, including new Pictures and Screenshots. Most notably, there's a picture of five silhouettes that have some connection to Platinum, but won't be revealed until after the release:
Also, I've added six new Amnesia Attacks today. The first five are the five sections of the old PokeRap, as they used to be divided up. Once you've gone over those and feel confident, I challenge you to try the Full PokeRap quiz, which you must complete in the correct order. I believe this should be a fun take on the quiz, don't you?
A Little of This, A Little of That
- Jigglypuff at 4:58 pm PST 7 Aug 2008
There's more content going up all over the site.
First and foremost, with a new month underway, a new round of magazines are coming out in Japan. As more details get confirmed, they're getting added to the Platinum Section. There's also a few new screenshots that I'll have posted once there are high-quality versions available.
In addition to the updates I've posted there, I'm also happy to announce that we have several more Amnesia Attacks for you. The nine remaining types (Bug, Dark, Electric, Fighting, Fire, Ground, Ice, Rock, and Steel) have been added. In addition, you'll also find some really challenging new quizzes: Abilities and Natures.
So, whether you're looking for the hottest new game in the Pokemon series or the hottest new game on the net, today is your lucky day!
Time-Delayed Updating
- Jigglypuff at 3:02 pm PST 4 Aug 2008
I know, I said I would update the middle of last week. Truth be told, I DID update. I just didn't bother to post anything here because I was too busy.
So, what did I do? sN0wBaLL wrote up some more guides a while back and I've thrown them onto the site where they belong. First there's a simple little guide to the Bug Catching Contest in GSC's National Park.
The other update is a nice introduction page to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness. Much like the original PMD, we leave that section in sN0w's capable hands, so expect updates to it as he has time to work on it.

Site Revamps
- Jigglypuff at 6:48 pm PST 26 Jul 2008
So, it's about time for another update, don't you think? Today, I've just got two things to cover, but you can expect more later this week.
First off, we've added eight new quizzes to Amnesia Attack! You can now test your knowledge of Pokemon by type; Dragon, Flying, Ghost, Grass, Normal, Poison, Psychic, and Water have all been added. Try them out today!
The big update, however, is over on the Psydex. It was looking a little crowded with 4 generations of data being displayed at once, not to mention inconsistent; sometimes RBY was first, sometimes DP was first.
So, that's been completely cleaned up. Much like the Learnsets have their respective tabs, you'll find that other pages, such as Stats now have a little toggle on the right side. The pages all default to DP, but it's easy enough to change what you're looking at to see older versions.
That's all for now. I have a nice chunk of time off work this week, so expect some more new content in a few days.
Further Updates to Platinum
- Jigglypuff at 8:23 pm PST 18 Jul 2008
Sorry for the silence recently; I've been having trouble getting back into the swing of working a regular job again.
That being said, I've made another update to our Platinum Screenshots page. I've added several new pictures and updated some older ones to much higher quality, courtesy of the official Japanese site.
Furthermore, there's been a bit of work on the Psydex. In the past, we had one calculator for IVs/DVs, but that's TECHNICALLY inaccurate. So, we've gone and split those up. The IV Calculator is in the Psydex itself, for use with RSE/FRLG/DP, and the DV Calculator is in the GSC section for use there.
Lastly, because it was so well received the first time around, we've added another new set of games to the site. In the same vein as the original Amnesia Attack games of naming Pokemon by generations, you can now do the same for the Attacks of each generation. Obviously, these four new games are significantly more difficult than the first four.
That's all for tonight. I'll try to be a little more punctual and make better use of my days off in the future.
More Platinum Updates
- Jigglypuff at 5:27 pm PST 10 Jul 2008
But before I get to those, here's what else I've been working on.
Firstly, lingering errors with the moves learned in XD have been ironed out in the Psydex. They SHOULD all be taken care of now. In addition to those errors, there was an error with the Stadium 2 Gym Castle that has also been resolved. And, of course, I fixed up some various typos on the site as provided by the forums.
Now for the good stuff. With the August issue of CoroCoro out in Japan, we've got a bunch more news on Platinum. You can read everything here, but here's a quick summary of the big stuff:
- WiFi play has been massively expanded
- More details about Shaymin and Giratina's alternate Formes
- A Battle Frontier
- An item to record your battles and share them with other players
In addition to all of that, I've uploaded twelve new screenshots from Platinum as well. Finally, given the nature of the Shaymin and Regigigas given away in Japan, I've updated the Psydex accordingly to show the moves that they learn. You'll find the new moves on the Tutored Moves/Other Moves pages for each.
And lastly, welcome to our Forum's newest Gym Leader, Registeel_Rocks.
And Your Thoughts Will Soon Be Wandering
- Jigglypuff at 12:01 am PST 5 Jul 2008
So DatVu insists that despite being tired, I should give you all an update before I go to bed.
First off, Frost has been busy again. He's gone and updated all the Episode Titles in the Anime section. It's interesting to see how many official titles have typos in them, actually.
As for me, I've been tweaking the layout of the DP Walkthrough to flow a bit better, and adding in more missing data. I'll continue to work on that as I actually make an effort to play through the game.
Speaking of DP, I've also been working on more moves for the PsyDex. There are a number of special moves various Pokemon can learn at special events. I've added them all to the PsyDex. It should be noted that the vast majority of these were only available in Japan.
While I was at that, Frost and I worked on fixing several Learnset errors, most notably things like Pokemon in DP learning Dive by Pal Park, which isn't actually possible. Similar issues were found for the Surfing and Flying Pikachu giveaways.
There's a few other things in progress, one of which you'll actually see slowly showing up as it goes along. I'm not going to officially announce it until it's done, but you're free to try to find it yourself if you'd like. It's not like I've intentionally hid it or anything.
So, have fun with that until next update. And while I'm at it, I hope all my fellow Americans enjoyed their Fourth. I think someone started a topic about it in the forums if anyone has anything interesting to share.
[Old News]

The Psypoke Elite Four would like to thank all those who continue to support us and use the site.
