Just follow the path. Simple as that. When you come out the other end, you'll be on Route 2. Cut down the tree to the south-west and head north. Remember this place? It's Pewter City. Head to the north-east corner of town and by cutting down the bush there, enter the museum through the back door. Talk to the scientist standing by the bookshelf and he'll give you the Old Amber, which will give you Aerodactyl. Return to the entrance of Diglett's Cave, but head south. The boy inside the house will give you a Mr Mime if you give him an Abra. Further south, Professor Oak's Aide inside the Gatehouse will give you HM05 - Flash if you've caught more than 10 Pokemon. Exit south again, and pick up an HP Up and a Moon Stone. Cut your way out and you're back in Viridian City. Cut down the bush at the south-west end (by the pond) and talk to the guy there. He'll give you TM42 - Dream Eater.

Rock Tunnel

Return to Cerulean City (Long walk from here - you can take Diglett's Cave or Mt Moon). Talk to the Bike Shop owner who will trade a Bike for your Bike Voucher. Now, head east by cutting away a few trees and you'll arrive on Route 9 to Rock Tunnel.

Walk round all the bushes and go into the cave. It comes in handy if you've got someone who knows Dig, or if you have an Escape Rope. And make sure you've taught someone Flash too.

Head east, then south at the junction, past the PokeManiac. Follow the path round to the ladder. In the next room, head south and west, then north when you can. Follow the path - when you reach fork in the road, it won't matter which path you take, they'll both lead you to the same ladder. Next, head south-east, staying close to the wall. Follow the wall and you'll reach yet another ladder.

You're almost at the exit! Head all the way west past two trainers and north to the ladder. Here, head south and west when you can. Follow the wall around, and the exit ladder is towards the bottom of the screen. *whew*

Head east and pick up a Max Ether by examining the lone tree, then head south as far as you can and you'll reach Lavender Town.

Lavender Town and Celadon City

There's not a lot to do in Lavender Town. You can check out the Nickname Rater, who will change the nicknames of your Pokemon for you. Alternatively, you can go into the large tower building, Ghost Tower, and battle your rival, or head south to Route 12 and get some experience and pick up some items. Both will be covered later in the walkthrough.

If you try to head up Ghost Tower now, you'll find that you'll battle a mysterious ghost that can't be attacked, so leave it for later. Instead, head west to Route 8.

Head all the way west until you reach the gatehouse. Like before, the guard won't let you through, but you can use the Underground Path to get to Celadon City.

Do not fight the trainer near the Underground Path Entrance, facing north (Gambler with a Poliwag and Poliwhirl). You must fight him later in order to catch Mew in the wild. For more information, see the Mew Guide

At the other end, head up the stairs and to the west, and you're at Celadon City.

Unlike Lavender Town, there's heaps of things to pick up at Celadon City. First of all, heal up at the Pokemon Center and make sure you have a spare slot in your lineup. Go behind the Pokemon Center and you'll be in the backstreet of Celadon City. Walk into the first large building you can (the Celadon Mansion) and you'll find that you've entered through the back door. Traverse the numerous flights of stairs and go into the room at the top. Examine the PokeBall on the desk, and you'll get the rare Pokemon, Eevee.

The large building to the far west is the Celadon Mega Mart. They have five levels of useful items; the second floor has TMs and Trainers Items, the third floor, if you talk to the saleperson, you'll receive TM18 - Counter, on the fourth floor you can buy Evolution Stones (Grab a PokeDoll while you're here too, you'll need one for later), on the fifth floor you can buy Vitamins and Battle Enhancers. Check out the roof as well - Buy at least two Fresh Waters, one Soda Pop and one Lemonade. Talk to the little girl walking around on the left, and she'll give you TM13 - Ice Beam for a Fresh Water, TM48 - Rock Slide for a Soda Pop, and TM49 - Tri Attack for a lemonade. Keep a Fresh Water handy for later. You might want to buy some more drinks, as they heal Pokemon in battle by considerable amounts, and are relatively cheap.

You can also pick up a hidden PP Up by heading to the bottom row of houses, and from there going east until you reach some trees. Head north along the narrow path (There's a Cut bush there) and examine the top tree to pick up your item.

If you head west, you'll reach another sleeping Snorlax. But there's also a tree you can use Cut against, so do so and go through the gatehouse. Talk to the lady in the house, and you'll receive HM02 - Fly, a very useful move which will take you back to any town you've visited.

South of the Pokemon Center is the Rocket Game Corner, a casino where you can win coins and use them to trade for valuable prizes. Firstly, you'll need a Coin Case, and this can be obtained from the man in the top left corner of the restaurant (Bottom row of houses, second from the left). There are some hidden coins on the floor (Just search around the aisles), and some generous people will also give you coins. Talk to the cashier to buy a set of 50 coins for Y1000. The real key to the Casino lies with the Rocket staring at the poster at the north end of the Casino. Talk to him and he'll fight you - he has a lv20 Raticate and a lv20 Zubat. After defeating him, inspect the poster, and a door to the right will open up. This is the Team Rocket Headquarters.

You'll arrive on the first floor, we'll call that B1. Available items here are an Escape Rope. To use the elevator, you'll need the Lift Key which one of the Rockets on B4 has, so continue down the stairs to B2.

To get to the other part of Floor B1 (There's a Hyper Potion and two Rocket trainers there), you'll need to use the stairs to the bottom right of the map. The items to collect are a Nugget, a Moon Stone, TM07 - Horn Drill and a Super Potion. You'll need to return to this floor later to use the elevator. Head down the stairs to B3 when you're ready.

Head down to pick up TM10 - Double Edge first, then make your way through the propellor pads and down the next flight of stairs. There's a Rare Candy to pick up too. On Floor B4, head down to pick up an HP Up and then retrace and head up to fight a Rocket. Talk to him again and he'll conveniently drop the Lift Key. (There's also TM02 - Razor Wind to the left). Return to B2 and head to the elevator. Head up to B1 first and battle the Rocket there so that you'll have easy access to the exit, then head down to B4. Pick up an Iron to the left, then battle the two Rockets to gain entry to the boss's room. Talk to him (Giovanni) and he'll battle you - he has a lv25 Onix, lv24 Rhyhorn and a lv29 Kangaskhan. Pick up the Silph Scope that he drops when you beat him, and return to the Pokemon Center to heal.

Celadon Gym

You'll need a Pokemon with Cut to enter the Celadon Gym. The entry point is south of the bottom row of houses (Near where you got the Coin Case). The trainers here are very fond of using status moves, like Stun Spore and Sleep Powder, so have the necessary remedies available. Watch out for the killer Stun Spore/Wrap combo.

Celadon City Gym: Erika
Erika
Speciality: Grass
Pokemon Level Type
Victreebel Level 29 Grass/Poison
Tangela Level 24 Grass
Vileplume Level 29 Grass/Poison
Grass types are known for using status moves that cause Sleep, Paralysis and Poison. Keep some Full Heals handy. Grass is weak to Fire, Bug, Flying and Ice attacks, and Victreebel and Vileplume's Poison half are weak to Psychic (Ground attacks are super-effective against Poison too, but Grass resists Ground). Grass attacks are super-effective against Water, Rock and Ground Pokemon, and are not very effective against Flying, Fire, Grass and Poison Pokemon

Erika will give you the Rainbow Badge if you defeat her, which makes all Pokemon lv50 and below obey you, and allows the use of HM04 - Strength outside of battle.. She'll also give you TM21 - Mega Drain.
