POKEMON YELLOW STARTERS GUIDE
Pokemon Yellow offers you the chance to get Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle without having to trade, much like how Ash was able to obtain the three starters from Red and Blue in the Anime.
Bulbasaur can be found in the house to the west of the Cerulean City Pokemon Center. Here, a lady offers you a Bulbasaur that she has nursed back to health if your Pikachu is in a happy mood. This is a reference to "Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village", where a girl called Melanie takes care of injured Pokemon.
Charmander can be found north of Nugget Bridge - speak to the trainer on the raised platform in the north-west corner of Route 25. Claiming that he is a bad trainer, he'll offer you Charmander. This is a reference to "Charmander the Stray Pokemon", in which Damien, the owner of a Charmander, abandons it in the rain.
Once you have obtained the Thunder Badge by beating Lt Surge at the Vermilion Gym, talk to Officer Jenny in the middle of town to get Squirtle. Her claim that Squirtle was getting into mischief is a reference to "The Squirtle Squad" where a team of Squirtle are the local nuisance.
