POKEMON PUZZLE CHALLENGE AND PUZZLE LEAGUE BASICS

Many of you who have played Tetris will look at this game and see some similarities - you need to clear blocks, and you have to stop the blocks from rising to the top and overflowing. However, there is most definitely a difference as you'll find out soon enough. These games are very easy to play, but very difficult to master. You'll need to think clearly under pressure as the main enemy here is the timer.

Gameplay

You'll notice that the cursor encompasses two blocks. By pushing A, you'll switch the position of the two blocks. Blocks that are pushed into empty space will fall down until it reaches another block. Easy enough to understand.
The aim of the game is to clear blocks and prevent the rising column from reaching the top. To do this, you must align at least three blocks of the same colour in a straight horizontal or vertical line. You'll see a little animation and they'll disappear. There are seven different colours: Red (Heart), Yellow (Star), Green (Square), Azure (Up Triangle), Navy (Down Triangle), Purple (Diamond) and Grey (Exclamation Mark, see Shock Blocks below).

Combos

A combo is simply clearing more than three blocks at one time. When you execute a combo, the rising column will momentarily stop. In certain modes, combos will cause damage to your opponent's Pokemon and/or cause garbage to fall in their board.

Chains

Sometimes, clearing one set of blocks can cause blocks to fall, which in turn could be cleared themselves. These are called chains. When you execute a chain, the rising column will momentarily stop. In certain modes, chains will cause damage to your opponent's Pokemon, and/or cause garbage to fall in their board. You can also execute chains using the blocks that fall from garbage.

By switching the green and yellow block..we connect the three yellow blocks..which cause the two green blocks above to fall, and connect

Garbage

Garbage is the name given to the large static patterned blocks that can be as small as three blocks wide, or big as five blocks tall.

To get rid of them, you need to clear any of the blocks that happen to be touching the garbage. While garbage is being cleared, the rising column will momentarily stop. This is an ideal time to sort out the active blocks and try to use the falling garbage to create chains.

Shock Blocks

Shock Blocks are the grey blocks with Exclamation Marks on them that can be found only in Challenge Mode. By clearing three of them, you'll cause damage to your opponent's Pokemon. When your opponent clears a set of them, it will cause a grey concrete garbage block that can be cleared in the same way as normal garbage.
