This morning a new collaboration between Pokemon and Namco Bandai (the makers of the Tekken and Soul Calibur series), Pokken Tournament, was announced as coming to Japanese arcades in 2015:
A legit Pokemon fighting game! Evidence of this game's existence started turning up last summer when some footage of Lucario vs. Blaziken was seen, but news about it has been quiet for almost a year until this morning's official announcement.
Also, while only a Japanese arcade version has been confirmed so far, speaking as a fan of fighting game series, this is actually quite normal. Many fighting game series originating from Japan hit the Japanese arcade scene first and then are later ported to the consoles for international release after play testing and balancing tweaks are done. It is extremely likely we will see Pokken Tournament in the western world, especially because Pokemon posted the trailer on their English Youtube as well.
