This morning on the official English Pokemon site, a small update was made to give us the English names of the (presumably Legendary/mascot) Pokemon that resemble a Y-shaped bird and a deer with X-shaped antlers.
The Y-shaped bird Pokemon is now known as Yveltal (pronounce the "Yve" part like "eve") while the deer-like Pokemon is Xerneas (pronounce the X as a Z). Like most Legendary Pokemon, they retain these names across several languages.
The second my brother and I saw this we both knew which ones we were getting. I'm getting X and he's getting Y! This also happened with Pokemon Black and White! (White is better)
So a year ago I made my last post on the website for a while. Swore off pokemon. Said I was to old. I watch the preview on youtube the other day. And I am right back here. Time to buy me a 3DS. I'm going to need it come October.
My only problem will be dealing with classmates as possibly the only kid still playing pokemon when they are a freshman at Eastern Michigan. Oh well, haters gonna hate! Though I wonder where the nex gen will draw inspiration from? Britain, maybe?
my 3DS needs a repair. i'm gonna get that done eventually. i definitely want to play this game. as for starters, i dont know which one i want. i like themall. but if i had to choose, fennekin. because foxes are one of my favorite animals. besides hippos :3 and i like xerneas more as a legendary so i'll be choosing X. that is, if i dont get x and y. i've never gotten both versions before, (parents barely buy me one game, so how can i get them to buy 2? XD) but i hope to get them both this time.
@origamania I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict these Pokemon will be a lot stronger than Unown. However, you need not fear since having 28 legendary Pokemon to match the Unown 4 generations later is likely not one of Gamefreak's genius ideas.
@origamania ok let's not have one of those repetitive discussions. People criticize Generation V way too much for my taste especially since they did so many things right.
P.S. I can't, lumping, wait for these games to come out. I really hope the rumor about being able to completely customize trainers is true, but even if it's not I'm sure I'll be impressed with everything about this game.
I already want to marry the designer who came up with Xerneas.
Well lets see. This game already looks... Interesting. Not sure. Chespin is my fifth favourite starter now. (Besides Squirtle, Charmander, Oshawott, Mudkip.). The region looks good. Hope for some tropical, beachy areas. Maybe a volcano for the first time? Xerneas and Yveltal are... Nice. AND WHEN I SAY NICE I MEAN NICE. AND WHEN I SAY I MEAN NICE I MEAN REALLY NICE. Except for Xerneas. That pokemon already sucks :P . Hope its good. My 3DS is sitting ready. Its about to collect 8 months worth of dust. Then it will be played until my hands are bloody.
@James86134 There were volcanoes in each of the 5 main series games in Generation III and we also had Stark Mountain in Generation IV. Also what do you mean your 3DS will be collecting dust? Lots of great 3DS games you can play in the meantime waiting for X and Y.
