First off, you'll notice a trailer for the series when the page loads up. It features the some of the new areas and characters, including the new protagonists, rival, and gym leaders. Also of note are the new scientist/researcher character, a TV/movie filming area, and a bunch of other areas to explore.
There are also high-res, clear images of the two mascots, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem:
We've also got clear images for the new protagonists, showing off their new hairstyles and new attire:
The new rival and the mysterious scientist, Akuroma, are also shown:
Next up are the two new Gym Leaders, Homika (Poison-type rocker girl) and Shizui (Water-type swimming guy).
Lastly, we can get a good look at the Unova Map, which has several areas covered in what appears to be ice. It's unclear what that's really about right now - it might just be obscuring parts of the region on the map, or it could be an indication of more terrain changes.
The other big thing of note is the official announcement of the distribution of Keldeo in conjunction with the next movie.
When comparing the "frozen" covered sections of the map to the mountainous regions, I will put my money on that the "frozen" areas are just obscuring our view of the map
Did anyone watch the video that pops up on the main site that they posted a link for? Black/white kyurem looks like some superfreak when you are battling it.
loving the new poison type gym leader she looks wicked, really looking forward to this now, its great that they are doing a massive reinvention rather than the usual rehash with new features, this should be great!
I'm looking forward to the Poison Gym Leader. It's been a while since there was a character specializing in Poison... And I always need a good incentive to raise a Psychic Pokemon. :)
I wish they would rework some types (Poison, Ice, and Grass), so that they're actually useful. I really hope they finally make Poison super effective against Steel, rather than unaffected by it.
@wickedwizerd22: what do you mean "finally"? They never will. That's how it's meant to be. Type matchups try to follow real life: Robots/Machines don't get poisoned.
@Frost: it is called the "poison" type not the "concentrated acid which can melt steel" type. But I see your point. Maybe there could be a "corrosive acid" poison move which affects steel types.
@wickedwizerd22 Even though you'd think dual type moves would be cool, because who hasn't thought that at one time or another, dual type moves would make the game 10 times more complicated. You would have to be a almost an expert on every aspect of every pokemon to be able to succeed in the game.
I think the problem is that "Poison" as defined by Pokemon includes bug venom, pollution/garbage/sludge, noxious gases, and corrosive acids. Of course the type is going to be limited when there's such a big scope and plant life i.e. Grass is the only one that would be wrecked by any of the above.
In reality moves like Gunk Shot and Sludge should be strong against Water, Acid and Acid Spray should be strong against Steel, Poison Gas and Smog should be weak against Fire, etc.
Given the logic postd by Frost, poison ought to be strong against Normal types and Fighting Types, it is poison after all. In reality if a normal animal like a dog or a Human fighter like a boxer or wrestler were to be poisoned or hit by any of the "poison" like moves listed by Frost, then they will be drastically hurting and likely KO'd soon.
May I just say that ice type is actually one of the best attacking types (if not the best). Hidden power ice is one of the most common moves in competitive play because it pwns dragons, gliscor, landorus etc.. But yea I agree. Poison needs to be super effective on normal types in my opinion. And grass needs to have less weaknesses... Bug-Poison-Fire-Ice-Flying too much gamefreak.
Anyone else notice that the water-type gym leader has a sack full of pokeballs? I know it could be that he just went fishing, but at first glance it reminds me of Team Rocket.
@mudkip eez awsome - I kinda doubt it after having had Team Aqua and Team Magma... not that I would be complaining if they DID have a Team Arctic or something like that. ;)
@Majin Pichu maybe its not team arctic but like team plazma coming back to like try it again. so the like FUSE kyruem and the dragon and are like "we can freeze stuff so give us all of your poggemonz!" and the people are all like "ooh your so powerful, here is the pokemon" and then creepy conspiracy theory Prof is like "aw hell nah" and gives us pokemon. THEN he turns out to be the bad guy.
or we are already UNDER the rule of team Arcitc/plazma and some one is likie "psst buddy take this pokemon." and the gymleaders are like team arctic/plazma assosiates.
I do like the second option though. it would be really cool if they did an alternate reality type of game where team plazma used their fusion powers and took over the world :) ... or maybe i should be sad that the badguys are winning ... :(
lol theres clouds below the giant photoshop glacier that goes over paper edges of the MAP. wonder what incident they're hiding tho, since the places slightly visible through the ice look fine and green.. If they went a Kyurem pwns region, theyd cover it in snow like the crater anyway, so the ice is just stylistic way of keeping parts secret as with clouds before, by any logic and visual contradictions.
@lpd446 @Poke-piper Its because his lower half is usually below the water surface XDDD
@Dragoon_Tycoon yea, but anyone capable of using attacks of a type gains from the type being good offensively, while defensively, if the type sucks, the pokemon have a hard time. Which is the case with ice. Rock and Fight of all things, along with Fire and Steel. This might sound better than Grass, but unlike Grass, it has the lowest number of resistances ever: 1, itself... Not to mention Stealth Rock...
They need to change the damage stealth rock does to be less drastic to 4x times weak
But yea. The type chart is not bad, but by now the rest of the flaws are pretty obvious. While I doubt they will do any changes, what I'd do is: -Make Poison strong against Normal and Dark (oh look its suddenly not crap and Dark can deal with another weakness). Normal is self explanatory, but Dark because its a technique type that relies on cheating and sneaky tricks, and you cannot fake defensive health xD... -Give Ice some resistances: Water, Ground, Dragon. Make up the reasoning however you want, but balance-wise Ice pokemon could actually come in on stuff and not die (the Ground one would be the game changer) -Remove Bugs and Flyings resistance to Grass, so its not the worst attacking type on the board. -Make Ghost weak to Psychic, because Psy is meh offensively and Ghost is one of the best defensive types anyway. Such a two-sided weakness would be interesting too with both being weak to each other. -Rock resistant to Rock, so its not the best of
... so its not the best offensive type of them all (since I threw Ground 1 advantage down too), while gaining a resistance to its own Stealth Rock lol. -Steel, the king of defense even if it got a few new weaknesses, I think making it weak to Electric would work nicely.
For some reason I always assume that Steel is weak against Electric in my head, even though I know that it isn't. It would make sense for Steel to be weak against it, since metal conducts well.
There HAS to be something drastically different under the ice. Did anyone else see the new little thing in the mountain? The one to the east of the Entralink? WTF do you think that is?
I wonder what number the Water gym is. Since its at a beach, and there is no beach anywhere non-ice covered, I think its safe to assume the beach is Undella. But as that is located on the other end of the region, maybe the initial game path will go north of Driftveil and then fly you to the east end and continue from there.
Dude, no way. Show me thermals that include visors and a bikini top sticking out of your shirt. And the boy's looks like a wetsuit, hands down. Maybe thermal swim gear. But ... definitely swim gear. *I think*
personaly i used to think reshiram was the best in the original black and white but now im going for zekrom and in black 2 and white 2 reshiram kinda sucks and zekrom looks cool
