Happy Friday!
Over the last several days, you may have noticed multiple changes popping up: A cool video showing off Black and White's camera. Another Black and White Walkthrough section, courtesy of Frost. A whole bunch of Nintendo Events for Black and White. The newest set, HS Triumphant was released last Wednesday and Frost has added the set to the Deck Dex.
A new TCG set ("Call of Legends") has also been confirmed for release on February 2. It is likely to be the last HS set, featuring reprints and cards that haven't been translated into English yet.
I'll try to have some more videos posted for everyone soon, but as the semester winds down, things get exponentially busier. Once things settle down, expect a lot more changes in the Black and White section.
To that end, what are the big questions you still have about Black and White? What sort of things do you think we should have an in-depth guide for, as a companion to the main Walkthrough? Let me know and if it's a good idea, it may just become the next guide for the new games!
uhhhh, "Invalid Section" is the only thing on the page sooo, something has gone wrong. Might just be what i am using to see it, shouldnt be... u might wanna check on that :P
Hey, do you guys have an estimate on when the English names will be revealed for the Gen. V Pokemon? I'm working on a program to help me keep up with EV training, but I stopped making it so I can put in the Gen. V guys.
@Biosci Depends on your play style. I'm 10 hours into the games so far, and only leaving the 3rd Gym. Of course, I'm also exploring everything I can, so...
It took me about 3 days to get to Lance in Soulsilver, but I spent 53 hours on my first Sapphire file just to get to the 5th gym. I don't know how I'll do in Black.
I figure if you can average around 4 or 4.5 hours per badge, you're doing pretty well. ;) Of course, the game DOES continue after the Elite Four, as always.
@Biosci I liked Hoenn a ton too. But, if I had to say what game for me was "better" as in difficulty, I'd say Kanto, just becuase LeafGreen was my first game and the levels were a few pinches higher than other games, but in Isshu the elites are the weakest yet, there must be some catch.....
@patrickpokeman44 - Kanto was definitely the best, or at least in my opinion. Johto didn't have very good Pokemon in it; I just completely hated the northwestern corner of Hoenn (Lavaridge Town and the ashy area, etc.); Sinnoh made you spend too much time in the mountain/cave and the snow route was especially annoying.
@dragontamer1021 There's a couple catches. 1, you can't go more than ten minutes without one of your Rivals challenging you to a battle. 2, the trainers you face around the overworld are a lot stronger than in previous games. 3, the Gym Leaders and Elite Four become about twice as strong once you've defeated them and return for a rematch. 4, Pokemon evolve at strange levels - some don't reach their final form until after level 60 now.
The big thing to keep in mind is that it's all new Pokemon that you're not familiar with, and that provides its own difficulty curve. Building a team is a lot more difficult when you don't know how well it will perform in battle ahead of time.
Has anyone actually played black or white here? Are the gym leaders hard to beat? It doesn't seem like that, because they have so low- levelled pokemon compared to the previous games. Am i right?
I just realized that in black and white, the wild pokemon could be a lot weaker, making leveling up harder.
Think of hoenn where the victory road pokemon are usually only lv 40. Since the last elite 4 pokemon in hoenn (metagross) was lv 58, and the black & white elite 4 pokemon reach up to lv 50 (the champion is still not in so it is probably higher), then the wild pokemon could be even lower than lv 40! Just a thought.
@Shuckle-rocks$ YES! I remember Victory Road as a last ditch effort to train if no one wanted a rematch on my PokeNav, but even then it was as slow as hell.
@dragontamer1021 - Haha, yep. I get the feeling "The Game" will stick with me for the rest of my life, whether I like it or not. It's just a generation thing, I guess.
@dragontamer1021 @frenchhorn95 You guys suck. It's been months for me.
@EveryoneElse I guess we'll have to wait and see how difficult it is. The developers have been promoting "after-you-win-the-game" content more and more with each generation, and I have no doubt that will continue. Maybe they make the storyline a little easier in terms of levels and such, but make endgame THAT much more difficult/enjoyable in return. I mean, if SO many pokes evolve in the 40's and up, I trust they'll make it possible for us to get there.
@everyone here tat need 4 to 4.5 hours per badge, u all fail i can beat any pokemon games in 20 hours or less me and my friend raced to see who could beat soul silver faster and u both got 19 hours and sumthin minutes, but he finished faster than me cuz he doesn't train and always avoid the trainers
@zht1997 Speeding through does not determine play time. You can push through any game if you're skilled enough, but if you go at the intended pace (i.e. fight every trainer, grind your team properly, do a few sidequests but not all) then you will end up averaging what they say you should. Jigglypuff was saying that he's exploring everything he can and has averaged 3ish hours per badge.
@Spoinkable And also if you trade your weak pokemon to a stronger game, have that game level them up to be a high level, and trade them back, then they will be much stronger than anything and breeze through the game.
I did this on my leafgreen game and beat the game (beat elite 4) in about 4-5 hours.
@Frost Because I wander around and explore? Oh, and sometimes I leave the game running while rendering the videos, so I'm sure some of those 10 hours my character didn't take a single step. @patrickpokeman44 It's a staff blog, reserved for the members of our staff - namely the admins and the forum moderators.
I figured making videos had something to do with it. Because I sit there and actively hunt down every item, visible or hidden, and I still have under 2 hours/badge. :P
@Frenchhorn95, Yeah I mean making a complete walkthrough of black and white is being rude to everyone it helps. I mean it must take a real jerk to do that. :P
AND i train my team properly, i even spend the time running through grass trying to find the pokemon i need for my team and everyone on my team was around lvl60 when i fought the elite 4
