Much of what we've been up to has been behind-the-scenes sort of work. If you've been poking around the site for the past week, you've probably yalready noticed some of the changes. If you haven't seen them, here's a quick overview of the big changes in the last several days:
Over the coming days, we'll continue working on reorganizing our existing tools to better incorporate all the new Black and White data, and keep working on the necessary new content as well.
So, which are you going to play first - Black or White? What's your favorite new Pokemon? Have you imported a copy of the games to play them now, or are you content to wait until Spring?
I have absolutely no clue which version I'm going to get. There is no version exclusive Pokemon that is swaying my decision, and the version exclusive locations aren't helping me either since I know next to nothing about either one. I also have no local friends who share my interest in Pokemon, so I don't have that to help my decision either. I might just wait for the third game in Gen V to come out.
What I do know is that for once, I'm departing from my tradition of choosing the Fire starter. I typically teach Pokemon moves solely by leveling them up, and when I took a look at Enbuoo's level up moves, I was not impressed. I took a look at the other two starters, and based on their level up moves, I'll be choosing Mijumaru. It certainly doesn't hurt that Daikenki looks awesome.
I will be getting White, even though the Black Version legendary is cooler. My best friend and I always get opposite versions anyways. I really want the yooterii-haaderia-muurando chain. I'll be choosing the water type, mainly because the fire one is just weird and the grass one might as well be a Treecko replica with a final grass-type Milotic. The final water starter form also happens to be pretty awesome.
I always get the second title game so white it is for me. As for starters I think Jarooda looks awesome and am tired of fire/fighting starters, I mean its ok when the first gym is rock and you need to balence the starters out but that not the case so I see no point in a reuse of a dual type
I could go either way with the version, but i am leaning towards black. I will be choosing the grass starter, because the final evolutions of the fire and water starters are unappealing to me. The final water evolution is particularly odd and is dissapointing how it hardly resembles the awesome middle evolution.
I will be choosing white and probably going for the water type because the fire starter is bad to me and I would like to show my rival that the fire starter stinks.
But one thing bugs me everytime I check a learnset or compare stuff. The background colors of types. Can't you use original colors? x_x Because it's confusing when fight is brown like you would expect from rock, rock is grey etc.
Pokemon comparer soon? maybe... for the first time i haven't really decided which game i'll get first, normally i go for which ever one sounds cooler first, and get the second later anyway but with black and white the differences are minimal. I still HATE the fire starter, ill be picking water i think. My favourite pokemon from this generation is wargle - the native eagle type one. I don't like the extreme evolution levels though =/. I think 64 is the highest although i may be wrong. A lot of them are like 35+, many in the 40's and 50's.
White because of the version exclusives. One of my favorites is Pokabu but after it's evos were revealed, I had to reconsider which starter I'm picking....
I'm going to wait till Spring - which is not gonna be easy. But I'm definetly going with White. Or both. It depends on how much money I got at the moment they'll be released here where I live. And my most favorite duo is Shandera and Rankurusu. ;3; ~ They're so adorableeee. <3
But I have a feeling that sales are going to be more even for Black/White than for previous versions. Red dominated the first gen, then it was Silver, Ruby, Diamond.
im gonna get white and my friend is gonna get black so we cvan trade pokemon and stuff. my favorite new pokemon i dont know by heart but its the chandeler pokemon whos fire/ghost. im picking the water type becuz its in the middle with sdvantages and disadvantages oin the gyms. none of the starters will have any good effect on the elite four them having fighting, dark, pyschic, and ghost type pokemon
White version and Mijumaru for me! But I might also get Pokabu for it's final form. Which reminds me of a battle in Death Mountain in a Legend Of Zelda game.

okay the changes are nice but black and white are better! (sorry psypokes =). i know i am getting white (cause i already pre ordered) and i know 3 pokemon i want on my team. Daikenki Roobushin Zekrom lol cant wait
yo dude seriosly ive been so pumped that i couldnt wait so i downloaded a rom and now have jyanobi, (fire second evo), hyappu (water mokey), choroneko, minezumi, second evo of yourterri
In the end, if the grass type starters stats are really weak, then I'm seriouslly going to choose Pokabu. I'm still going to get both Black and White. And pkmntr, everyone knew that.
Black straight-up. My favorite color oFTo. I'll go with Tsutaja for my starter, I don't think it's too terrible, and I prefer grass over the other 2. The only other Pokemon I know I want are the final Crocodile and the Sarcophogas. The aliens and "Power Rangers" look intriguin, also. I haven't bothered trying to memorize names since they will most likely be changed when B/W come to America.
And a brief shout-out to Psypoke, the Game Sprite portion is my favorite part of the Psydex: I can see every Pokemon at once, which makes it much easier to decide on my teams.
I'm getting Pokemon White. Zekrom>Reshiram IMO, Zekrom looks more for battle Reshiram looks more for grace. Tsutarja-->Janoby-->Jaroda Grass starter is too kool. Meguroko-->Warubiru-->Warubiaru Good speed, good attack, looks cool Hyappu-->Hiyakki Love monkeys, and this is the one i'll be receiving. Washibon-->Wooguru Afro bird! Zekrom last slot will be a HM slave
I know for a fact that I will be getting both, but I love Zekrom and I will buy White first. Unfortunately, I am going to wait for the American release. The fact that Wooguru is in White reinforces my decision.
I like both the mascots, so I can't decide whether to get just one game, or get both...
If I only get one, it will be White because I prefer its version-exclusive Pokemon to the ones in Black. But if I love the game and want to play again and again, I will get Black as well.
I got Pokemon White, just beat seventh gym. My team is Jarooda, Muraando, Hiyakki, Hihidaruma, Aekeosu and Meraruba. Still trying to evolve Meraruba, but level 59 is ridiculous.
@CanvasK - I don't mean this to be rude, but, unless someone is some strange psychic, no one will know the starters without looking them up or seeing something about them.
Okay, so some of you are referring to Reshiram and Zekrom as if they're version exclusive Pokemon, but they're not listed as such in the Black and White section. Who's wrong here?
@KokiriWolf - I think it's safe to assume they are exclusive as were the mascots in gen. III (Kyogre/Groudon) and IV (Palkia/Dialga). Should there be a third game, which I expect there will be though I have no idea what "color" it would be, there will probably be a third legendary as Emerald had Rayquaza and Platinum had Giratina. So do answer your question directly, chances are Reshiram and Zekrom are exclusive.

Dasutodasu,Gigigiaru and Rankurusu are my absolute faves.Dasutodasu is sooo flippin adorable!!!!!
@psy_striker59 Hitomoshi is the first evo of that pokemon
I have a Futachimaru (who CAN evolve), final evo LeafBug, Baokii, i just took my BIKUTINI off my team so i could have a hitomoshi, gantoru, and a flying HM slave. I want to find one of those condor pokemon to replace the HM slave though. 7 gyms, and a probopass loada team plazma members.
@frenchhorn95 For some reason I have an easy time remembering different languages, Tsutarja,Mijumaru,Pokabu,Zorua,Zoroark, Reshiram,Zekrom. (I can say them, I'm just not sure on my spelling)
@CanvasK - Haha, I'm sure that's helpful, but what I meant was that if someone had never seen or heard the name at all before they wouldn't know the name associated with a specific Pokemon. *obviously* On a different topic, I admire your choice of White version and the water type, for whatever reasons! ;)
@KokiriWolf Nobody is wrong. The version exclusive page even says that the listed Pokemon are just found by walking, fishing, surfing, etc. Reshiram and Zekrom are Pokemon that you have to specifically talk to in order to activate the battle.
Churine and Monmen also aren't technically exclusives, as you can trade for the one that isn't in your version with an in-game character.
@frenchhorn95 That makes sense, (I probably remember the names cause I visit the site every day :P) Mijumaru's FE(Final Evolution)just looks cool, and I have a habit of choosing Water starter's...
umm, guys, you do know that in Diamond/ Pearl/ Heartgold/ Soulsilver that after you beat the elite four you could go back to or to another place to get the legendary that is in the other game.
@greatgonzo that was in platnium i think were you can get dialga and palkia after wards you arent able to get the other legendary exclusive for diamond and pearl, you are right about it for soulsilver and heartgold
1. I'm getting White. 2. My favorite new Pokemon is Rankurusu! It's why I'm getting White. I also really like Shandera and Wargle. 3. I can't really read Japanese very well... so I'm chipper to wait for spring! 4. Also, a side-note, my least favorite new Pokemon are the Ice Cream family. They make me cringe.
So from what i seen most people are just judging the starters based on looks.... dont get me wrong i do it to but not when it comes to what will beat others...
i getting the water starter i first thought it would be like water/ice but its pure water :( oh well :) i cant wait till it comes out in the U.S
@wickedwizerd22 - Well, as grey is my favorite color, I would be extremely happy about that. ;) Of course, they'd have to decide on the third mascot, though...
@frenchhorn95 the mascot of the third game will probally be that dragon/ice legendary every is expecting that grey will be whats its called though but someone said it could be like chrome or something
@psy_striker59 - I don't really understand how that is a dragon/ice type. It looks more like some cousin of a Skarmory, steel/flying. I also don't understand all the 4-legged fighting types around the legendaries. : How could they possibly use fighting-type attacks???
@psy_striker59 - Sorry, two separate thoughts. First, the dragon/ice Pokemon I think you're refering to seems more like a steel flying type. While I was looking for what you were talking about, I ran across all those deer-like fighting types. (Water/Fighting, Grass/Fighting, etc.) I was just wondering how they could possibly use fighting-type attacks as they have no fists.
@frenchhorn95: A quadrupedal Pokemon can still be a fighting Pokemon without punching moves. Kicking your opponent is still fighting. If I remember correctly, Jump Kick, Hi Jump Kick, and Low Kick are all Fighting-type moves. The Pokemon series has a lot of illogical moments, but a Fighting-type with four legs isn't one of them.
@KokiriWolf - Yes, but that implies they can jump up above the opponent, swing out one leg to hit the opponent's legs, or balance on the back two legs and shove forward with the other two, which, let's face it, isn't too common.
OK... so Gold and Silver allowed you to get both Lugia and Ho-oh. But since Generation II, all the mascots have been version-exclusive except in the remakes. So it's probable (but not certain) that Reshiram and Zekrom are version exclusives, but we don't know for sure yet.
@frenchhorn95 If you bothered looking at moves that they learn, you'd see that they all six Fighting moves. Two are Focus Blast and Rock Smash, which don't require fists. Another is Double Kick, which is completely plausible for their designs. Another is Fast Guard, which is a status move like Detect. The fifth move translates to "Sacred Sword," which is just fine because they all have bladed parts on their heads. The only one that's not explainable is Close Combat, and even that has no indication of being hand-based in its Japanese name.
i agree with frost, take ash's starapter for example, it used close combat with its claws on pual's torterra, so these legendary will be able to use close combat with their feet. and close combat just mean hitting ur opponent up close, it doesn't say tat u must use a hand or anything and darkaridos, in pokemon black and white, u can only get one legendary, mystery character n capture the other one
@zht1997 - I wouldn't go by anything the tv series shows. I recently watched an episodes with a Hitmontop. It was spinning on its head. They were on water. Some things can't be explained, but I guess it is made for little kids, not for analytical people like me. And I didn't say it didn't happen. I just said that I imagined the attacks differently.
"Yes, but that implies they can jump up above the opponent, swing out one leg to hit the opponent's legs, or balance on the back two legs and shove forward with the other two, which, let's face it, isn't too common." - frenchhorn95 Maybe that's why they're legendary =P
Also, I've found the anime episodes I've watched to be completely realistic in their approaches to interpreting the moves we all know and love.
And just to throw in my two cents about the third dragon not looking Ice-typed, does Reshiram look Fire-typed to you? And does Zekrom look Electric-typed?
@Spoinkable - Just because something is legendary doesn't mean it can disregard the laws of physics. The legendaries still tend to follow rules normal Pokemon do in movement.
I just gave a single example. I wasn't saying everything that happened was fake and impossible.
Again, I was just talking about one thing. I never said Reshiram and Zekrom LOOKED like their types. There are a lot of new Pokemon that don't follow the types you would expect.
To everyone - I understand that it might be possible for them to use those moves, but the way I imagine it, ME not YOU, it isn't. It's just an opinion. And yes, I realize little to none of the game is realistic, but I still try to apply basic ideas of real life.
The anime doesn't follow real-world physics. Like, at all. Bubbles cause EXPLOSIONS when they come in contact with other bubbles.
That doesn't mean it's illogical for deer and horse-like Pokemon to learn Double Kick, a move that requires mental focus (Focus Blast), or a random shielding move.
I'm gonna have to get Black simply on the version exclusive Poke'Mon. I like Gochiruzeru too much. Though I may be considering getting white for Doredia on the sheer basis that I don't believe any of my friends will get White.
Starters, grass all the way. Been that way for me since Bulbasaur.
because in the yin-yang symbol there is only a black and a white side, wait maybe there is one, cuz there's also a phoenix related to the yin-yang symbol
also is there is a 3rd one related to zekrom and reshiram, watch it be a fire-electric type (srry for posting this much, but i always think of wat else i forgot after i exit this site)
it can't be tat dragon ice type, u know y, because it doesn't have a cool ability like turbo blaze and the ability tat zekrom have, instead it only have the ability pressure, so it can't be th 3rd legendary of the trio i bet tat there won't be one like pokemon gold and silver and crystal
@zht1997: I don't see why Kyuremu (the Dragon/Ice type) won't be the third version mascot just because it has Pressure. Lugia, Ho-oh, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina are all version mascots, and they all have Pressure as their ability.
Since the third generation, the version mascots have been members of a legendary trio. I wouldn't be that surprised if Kyuremu forms a legendary trio with Reshiram and Zekrom.
There's more than just abilities to factor in when connecting trios. Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem all have similar names, with the last syllables being r_m. They all are part Dragon. They don't have the same base stats, but there's a precedent for Pokemon of the same trio to have different base stats in Kyogre/Groudon and Rayquaza. They generally learn the same moves or similar type-specific moves via level-up. So they have enough in common that it's pretty obvious that Kyuremu will be their third counterpart and the mascot of the third version.
@Kaori Sakura You can get Doredia in Black. There's an in-game character in the second gym's city who will trade you Doredia's pre-evolution for Monmen, the cotton ball.
This is probably a pretty farfetch'd (pardon my bad pun) idea, but maybe Kyurem will get an amazing alternate form in the third game, something like Giratina, except the item would have to be something cold and it would have to change its stats. Just like Giratina, it would change its ability. Once again, its just an idea.
