Best Wishes, 2ch Leaks Possibly Add Credibility to Starter Evolutions[permalink]

Quick update before bed.
The Best Wishes site has updated with another character profile. Don George leads a Battle Club which is a sort of training grounds. He was originally seen in the leaked concept art.
The next TCG set, HS Triumphant, will drop several of the Japanese cards and only release 102 cards total in the US.
Next, a mini-serial on Black and White coming out in Japan is being leaked onto 2ch. Some of the highlights include a bunch of pictures of Pokemon, some of which may be as-of-yet unseen. The cover also proclaims that the games will be taking place in New York. There is also supposed to be an interview with Sugimori, in which he discusses the starter's evolutions; basing their general designs on Western, Chinese, and Japanese art. He also mentions that the starters should grow in unexpected ways, and specifically discusses Mijumaru's evolution being a cross between an otter and a sea lion, with its shell becoming more like a sword. This description coincides with the images seen earlier. Obviously, it's not an official confirmation and we remind our visitors to still consider them rumors at best. Also of note, the many other designers of the Pokemon for the games discussed how they treated Black and White as a new beginning for the series. Because of this, they were no longer concerned with attempting to make the Pokemon unlike any previous ones, and were willing to reuse inspirations, such as creating a new "dog Pokemon" or "cat Pokemon" for these games.
As the magazine is just coming out, information is still a little sparse, so it should be taken with a gain of salt. Hopefully there will be more solid info out there tomorrow afternoon when I get out of class.
Pokemon Black and White were also honored with Famitsu's rare perfect score, making them the 15th game in the last 12 years to achieve this.
What do you think of Black and White's popularity before the release - a perfect score and record breaking presales? Does the description offered by Sugimori make the rumored starter evolutions more believable to you, or do you think they fit even less in light of the new information?
Most importantly, I am totally nerd raging that fourteen cards from Lost Link and Clash at the Summit were cut from Triumphant. Seriously, TPCI, you annoy me.
Ok, so, even if there's supposed to be big leaps between the starter evos, the third 'evolution' of Mijumaru looks absolutely nothing like its pre-evo. Pokabu's line, I can kind of see, but Tsutaaja's final is less than satisfying. All that aside, I suppose it doesn't really matter if I think they're awful or not. But I'm really praying these are fake.
O, please no! Don't add credibility, Tsutaaja's final forme looks way to much like Milotic, Pokabu's looks too much like Rhyperior with Infernape-ish features, and Mijumaru's final forme looks like Dialga with some features from Walrein, Rapidash and Manectric.
i knew it, the fire starter pokemon's final evolution came from a chinese myth, and the water one's final evolution came from the west and the grass one's final evolution came from japan
Erm, this interview doesn't coincide at all. How is the grass final western in any way? and how does the water final have a sword? In the supposed interview he says that the shell becomes like a katana, i don't see a katana...
So you don't see that giant stabbity shell on Mijumaru's final evolution's head? Or how it's an otter/sea lion hybrid, which specifically aligns with Sugimori's basis for Mijumaru's evolution?
Now, if I had to guess: Tsutaaja's evolution is western because it looks very much like European royalty. Its frills make it look like it has a robe, and it has two protrusions on its head that resemble a crown.
Pokabu's evolution is Chinese for the yellow markings on its belt. A pig is also an animal from the Chinese zodiac, and its design in general has a very Chinese flair.
Mijumaru's evolution is Japanese because it has shell armor on its legs that highly resemble a samurai's. Its shell likely detaches from its head to use as a sword, as Sugimori implies.
Im likin these starters more and more and im hopin these are real. Im likin the whole myth vibe to them, gives them some omf. HOWEVER, I still cant get over the fact that pokabu's final looks too much like rhperior and magmortor. Im more likley gonna do something different and choose the grass or water starter. Any confirmation on there types yet?
the whole game is based on traditions, even the game title came from the chinese yin yang symbol, on the yin yang symbol, there's a black dot on the white side just like how zekrom is in pokemon white, and there's a white dot on the black side just like how reshiram is in pokemon black
i too also love the fact that every thing is related to the tradition thingy. i also thought like that the anime is like with the tradition like pkmn and then the bad guys come in and say like they dont give a sht about this (somthin like that)
