Update (8/4/10): Junichi Masuda's blog has confirmed that only Isshu Pokemon will be available in Black and White until the player earns the National Dex!
Let's start off with the rumor mill, then. There's an image currently going around claiming to be a scan from the September issue of Corocoro, showing Victiny, the sarcophagus, the heart-shaped fish (claiming it's Luvdisc's evolution), the first mole stage, the tarantula, a new Pokemon with a skull on its head and a Chimecho evolution. It's a little early for a Corocoro release, and the image isn't really in the Corocoro style. It also has a rather telling typo that puts Bikutini at less than 1lb. For these reasons, we're going to have to assume that this picture is fake.
Now, on to the real news. First off, you'll have noticed that if you haven't yet voted in the GPCT, there's a convenient box on the top of the page to allow you to cast your vote without having to wander over to the voting page.
Up next, you'll notice that our news posts now have a "Tweet It" button by the Facebook links. This new Twitter integration allows you to send a tweet - in the format of "@psypoke [article title] - [link to article]" right from our site. You'll have to authorize the application the first time you use it, of course, but after that it's a one-click process!
And now, the Black and White news. The other day I copied Frost's list of BW Pokemon to a Known Pokemon page for easy tracking of what we know so far.
The official Japanese site has also now posted a copy of the video shown on Oha Suta the other day. I've added that to our YouTube channel as well for your convenience and discussion.
The video shows all the things discussed in the earlier news post. We neglected to previously mention what appears to be a possible tag-team mode for 3-on-3 battles, where a rotating platform seems to determine which of your 3 Pokemon is in the front line.
When the real Corocoro scans leak (which should be in a few days), we'll make sure to let you know. Hopefully this fake one isn't too far off from the real deal.
*sniff* thank you! *sob* i'm so happy! *sniff* I am sorta disappointed though. I wanted to see people eat their shoes (and socks and cat and ipod and camera and firstborn) :P and i'm not gonna be able to do much without wi-fi....but at the same time...FIRST POST!!!
The tarantula IS real. However, it might not look exactly like that because the scan is fake. The only Pokemon that are completely new in that scan are Chimecho's evolution and the thing with the skull. The other five we have seen in some manner before.
People about lost their minds when I suggested ages ago that only new pokemon be available. Looks like I got my wish and won't be stuck with Abra and Geodude again.
I'm agreeing with the above four posts. I'm psyched about learning a whole new set of Pokemon, without the aggrevating little Geodudes and Zubats popping up all over the place.
We have 36 right now, but if the rumor of there being 150 new ones is true, that's not so bad. Plus, the game comes out in a little over a month anyway.
What do you know, a fake scan. :/ Let's wait for the REAL scan to come out before going berserk. Obviously the fake is meaningless - it proves nothing, and it disproves nothing. Now, let's move on. :)
I'm glad that we'll get to start from scratch with the Pokedex - I was getting a bit tired of Zubat and Geodude.
And I'm looking forward to some genuine information about the tarantula Pokemon. Some people think it's probably Electric, but I disagree - real tarantulas live in burrows, so a Ground-type might make more sense...
No more annoying zubats and geodudes and tentacools and stuff but there will be replacements. They're are killing themselves by nonly having Isshu pokes until the Natiomal dex because you always have to have Pikachu because there are litle kids who won't play unless they have a pikachu (I know I used to be one)
First of all- FINALLY! A new region with all new pokemon. Although I expected this since they said they were starting with route one and the fact this new region is farther away from the previous 4 games, some of the pokemon I've seen sort of put that into question.
Secondly- Maybe there will be new evolutions/prevolutins when we unlock the national dex? Its a posssiblity. Is'nt it?
@GofD there's a post that Jigglypuff or Frost sent out a while back showing a pokemon that looked a lot like luvdisc. Read the talkbacks they're funny :) Can you guys believe you're gonna have to beat the E4 before you can even see a magikarp :D Or bidoof, 'coz i hate them.
Ive been thinking about this, maybe once we get the national dex in black and white, new evelutions/ preevolutions for previous pokemon become avalible? I think it could be a possibility just because there are previous gen pokemon that look like they could use an evo or prevo.
I would expect new evolutions/pre-evolutions for Pokemon of the previous 4 generations. Several of the new evolutions/pre-evolutions from the 4th generation were unavailable until the National Dex was received, so it's not a very farfetched idea for GameFreak to do something similar with generation 5.
i found a link to the fake corocoro scan :) http://pokemonblackandwhite.net/2010/08/04/fake-august-corocoro-scan-reveals-new-pokemon/
and i like the fact of a whole new pokedex, seems fresh and is like a nice breeze to hear, thank god there won't be any more zubats.. although i like crobat :/ but hey cave exploring maybe happier with out the need of max repels :D... or not ... :)
...Why is everybody talking about "This Pokemon looks like a (insert existing Pokemon) evolution/pre-evolution"?
With Mamanbou/Luvdisc it was reasonable, because Mamanbou looks like a Luvdisc with optional extras. (No, not just because I said so, or because I'll have to eat my shoes if I'm wrong. :/ Mamanbou even has the same beauty spot under its eyes.)
But some of the suggestions have been a stretch, and others have been downright bizarre...
That's been going on ever since the first Isshu Pokemon was revealed, unfortunately. I think the worst I've seen yet was "Bikutini is a vampire Pichu." :|
I'm with Frost on this one. Remember when everyone thought Kricketot was going to be the pre-evolution of Illumise and Volbeat? I bet there was some shoe-eating after that one.
