After more than 6 years of use (almost 3 of them with the Talkbacks), we have finally decided to retire the way we do News around here. This new interface is sleeker on the main page and much easier to work with. Headlines and bylines have been restyled to work with the site theme better and stand out when necessary.
Next to every headline is a Permalink, allowing you to bookmark a specific News story all by itself, regardless of age. Clicking one of these brings you to an article-by-article news system which shows the complete article and all talkbacks for it, plus the box for you to provide your own feedback. You can thumb through from one News article to the next with the Older and Newer links on the page as well. Clicking on the Talkback link of a story will bring you to this same page, but jump straight to the Talkbacks.
Following each article, we've implemented a Tags system, to help you find related News on the site. Click on any Tag to search for all News articles that contain it, and from there, use Expand to view the News Permalink for any article.
Finally, we've added the ability to share a News article with your friends. This is technically a public beta - at the moment you can Like a News article via Facebook. If it goes over well, then in the future, more ways to share news with your friends will be added.
So, what do you think? If you have any feedback on this new News system - try out the revamped Talkbacks and let us know!
