There are just two more days until HeartGold and SoulSilver see their North American release. And we just can't wait to start celebrating! In fact, you'll notice that we've restyled the website theme to be a little more Johto!
The Psydex has been updated to include the Pokedex Entries for all Pokemon in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Note that many of these entries are the same as their original Gold and Silver counterparts, while some have changed slightly. For some Pokemon not appearing in the new games except by trade or PalPark, the entries in both games are the same.
To help you navigate the games when they're released, we've also compiled some Game Maps of various dungeons, caves, or structures you'll find yourself wandering though.
Several things in the games - people, places, and items - have been renamed. Click here for spoilers:
The Rocket Executives are Archer, Ariana, Proton and Petrel
The new HGSS key items are: * Apricorn Box (stores your apricorns) * Berry Pots (grows your berries) * UNOWN Report (stores information on the Unown) * Dowsing MCHN (Itemfinder) * Photo Album (holds your photo information) * GB Sounds (plays music from the GB/C) * Lock Capsule * Jade Orb (summons Rayquaza at the Embedded Tower) * Red Orb and Blue Orb (summons Groudon or Kyogre at the Embedded Tower) * Enigma Stone (allows the capture of Latios in HeartGold or Latias in SoulSilver)
Renamed areas or newly named areas are: * Tin Tower is now Bell Tower * Bellchime Trail (connecting Ecruteak and Bell Tower) * Goldenrod Underground is now Goldenrod Tunnel
New areas are: * Cliff Edge Gate (west of Cianwood City) * Cliff Cave (on Route 47) * Embedded Tower (location of the Hoenn Weather Trio on Route 47) * Sinjoh Ruins (where the Arceus event takes place) * Frontier Access (Between Olivine City and the Battle Frontier) * Safari Zone Gate (at the entrance to the Safari Zone)
We've updated our page on the Battle Frontier to now list all of the Trainers that you'll find there, all of the Pokemon that will be used against you in battle, and all of the Teams of Pokemon that each trainer can assemble from those lists.
And there's still so many more new things to come!
Great update. can't wait til sunday. I am getting heartgold sister getting soulsilver. Love the title screens. loving the names of the items, places, and admins. Keep up the good work. :)
Good updates, but does anyone know why did they change the name of Tin Tower to Bell Tower in the English games? I don't understand the thought train of that. Tin Tower has been Tin Tower since the days of GSC in both the games and the anime (if I recall, they did a small reference to it in a recent US episode just a few weeks ago). I'm not complaining; I'm still getting the games even so. But, it's usually considered in bad tastes when a series doesn't keep things consistant throughout all of its criteria.
I agree with Golbania; Bell Tower just sounds kin of ridiculous compared to the mystery of calling it Tin Tower. To get ready for SoulSilver I'm replaying my Silver Version while watching the Pokem?n Johto episodes, and Tin Tower just is so much better. Also, "Sinjoh Ruins"? Really? I liked the Japanese "Shinto" better too, but that's more of a minor detail to the HGSS plotline I suppose...
Im going stir crazy waiting for my Heart Gold!!!!!!!!!! I know gamestop has my preoredered copy already!!!! i want them to gimme it already!!! Grr......i dunno if i can wait two more days!!!!
@Twilight Hylian: I was kind of hoping that they wouldn't change the name of Shinto Ruins to Sinjoh, like so many people predicted they would. I mean, isn't Shinto one of Japan's religions? It was connections like that to Japanese history and culture that drew me into the second gen games in the first place because that was actually interesting. It's not that the small changes are going to destroy the HGSS games, but they are just a little bit upsetting for those of us who played the originals...
I,ve never had a johto game before. had all the others. if i find out that gamestop lost my copy i will seriously go CRAZY AND NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL MYSELF
@golbania: ditto. to all of it @celebikid: be prepared for one of the best things to come out of the pok?mon franchise since the original pok?rap. johto is by far the best region in terms of geography, diversity...plus, gold, silver, and crystal were just plain FUN and i along with everyone else expect heartgold and soulsilver to be the same way
Did they also changed the name of Brass Tower? The one where you find the Legendary Dogs. Because now Bell Tower wouldn't fit well together with Brass Tower.
On a side note, I'm going away on Sunday before Gamestop opens and won't be able to get my figures :( .
If you have a friend or family member that can make it to game stop on Sunday, let one of the workers behind the counter know before then and they can put that persons name on the account. Then they can pick it up for you. My mom did that so I can sign for both mine and hers. She put my name on her reservation.
I agree with all of you. A remake of the old games should definitely contain the same names of the lokations and buildings but I guess it's just because most of us has playd the original gold, silver and crystal. I have no doubt that the games will be amazing anyway.
@cro_bat: we all have our favorites. Personally I'm glad that Dragonite is available without havin' to trade. And Dratini is available so early in the game. Awesome!
@Golbania I've never played the original GB games (My first one was Ruby :) But I don't think you should let it get to your head... Call me a noob but i think "Bell Tower" sounds cooler. xD
OMG TOMARROW... Don't you guys just love Spring?!? -I love when new games come out. :D
People need to stop complaining about Shinto Ruins being changed. The intent of the Japanese name is SHINoh (the Japanese name for Sinnoh) + JohTO, just like the English version's. Don't make it deeper than it's meant to be.
@Froboy102: Yeah, I'm a bit stubborn when it comes to minor changes in the remakes of the older videogames I used to play. I said a lot of the same stuff a few years ago when Final Fantasy IV (a Super NES game I was absolutely nuts for as a kid) was re-released for the DS. I spotted all the changes to the dialogue, item names, and some plot rewrites, and made some pretty strong criticisms about them on other fansites. Still, so long as the overall storyline's the same, I'll be more than satisfied.
@Frost: Some people just like to gripe, myself included. Just give it a few days, and everyone will shut up about the matter altogether.
