When It Rains, It Pours [permalink]

No sooner do I finally manage to overcome internet issues at my end do we run into issues at the server end. For the last several days, you may have noticed significant downtime. We are working hard with IGN to resolve this issue. At the moment, things appear stable. Once we're certain everything is back up and running smoothly, we will update again. Thank you for bearing with us all during these server issues.

What are you on about, swift13? It means that when things go wrong, lots of things go wrong at once. They had lots of internet problems at once, you see... oh, never mind. It has been a while since the last update. Any more info on HeartGold/SoulSilver?

To basically put it when updating and designing a website, code can be broken in the process of updating or working under the parameters of the server, making some big changes almost impossible. Not as simple as that sounded in my head but most likely the problem.

Oh, OK. Sorry about that, I thought swift13 was wondering what the title meant... :S It's just a metaphor for the internet problems. To put it more simply, it's all very complicated, and in any computer system there are a million things that can go wrong. My dad works with computers, and they drive him mad too.

.... What ARE you all talking about? IGN's moved us to a new server cluster and there've been bugs to iron out. They've been taken care of.

The site is still quite slow and does not always work, though... It wasn't responding yesterday morning for me at all! Seriously, your server people should have these kinda things fixed within days, not weeks. grrrr! wants to slap some server workers for being lazy
