- What Pokemon swarm, and how do I find out?
Pokemon swarms happen only if a trainer calls you and says "You've gotta see this! A whole bunch of (insert Pokemon here) are swarming all over (insert location here)!" The Pokemon and trainers you need to contact are:
- Ralph on Route 32 tells you when Qwilfish swarm. Fish Route 32 when they do.
- Anthony on Route 33 has information on when Dunsparce swarm. The Dunsparce are in Dark Cave.
- On Route 35, get Arnie's number to find out about when Yanma swarm. Yanma will be in Route 35.
(Crystal) The number of Pokemon that swarm has decreased since Gold and Silver (Remoraid isn't in the game, Snubbull is common, and Marill is more common in Mt. Mortar).

- How do I breed Pokemon?
Leave a male and female Pokemon, or a Ditto and the Pokemon you want to breed, in the Daycare on Route 34. Eventually, there should be an Egg. (Check the Breeding Guide for more info).

- (Crystal) How do you get a Dratini with Extremespeed?
To get the Extremespeed Dratini, make sure that you have an open slot in your party and go to the Dragon's Den (After defeating Clair). Take the quiz in the shrine, have Clair give you the Rising Badge and leave the Dragon's Den. Once you exit, re-enter and go back to the shrine. The old man that gave you the quiz will now give you a level 15 Dratini that knows Extremespeed, Thunder Wave, and two other moves.

- Where do I find TM08?
TM08 (Rock Smash) can be obtained from a fat man east of where you encounter Sudowoodo.

- How do you get the Rainbow Wing in Crystal?
You have to catch Lugia, Suicune, Raikou and Entei, and then the Wise Trio (in the building that leads to Tin Tower) should give it to you. If you knock out one of those Pokemon instead of catching them, you won't be able to get it.

MISCELLANEOUS

- How do you clone your Pokemon?
There is a glitch in the game that lets you clone your Pokemon. This technique is relatively safe, and has been tested, but must be done correctly in order for it to work properly.
1. Deposit the Pokemon you want to clone (attach an item you want to clone too) in any PC box. You may deposit more than one Pokemon if you wish to clone more than one.
2. Choose to change box, and switch to any other PC Box. When the words "Saving...Don't turn off the power" begin to appear, switch off your Gameboy - you must do this before the word "power" appears.
3. Turn your Gameboy back on. One Pokemon will be in your party, and another will be in the box that you deposited it in.

- When does the Time Capsule open?
When you reach Ecruteak City, visit the Pokemon Center and Bill will tell you that it will open in one day.

- What Pokemon are eligible for the Time Capsule?
Any of the original 151, as long as they have no new moves.

- (Crystal) What does the Poke Seer do?
His job is to check when/where a Pokemon was caught, at what level it was caught, and how happy it is. He is found in Cianwood City.

- (Crystal) What's the Move Tutor?
A man near Goldenrod's Game Corner will teach one Pokemon Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, or Flamethrower for 4000 coins on Wednesday and Saturday. He will only be there after you beat the Elite 4. You may only teach a move to one of your Pokemon per day.

- What are the main differences between Gold/Silver and Crystal?
-The Pokemon locations have been shuffled around. Snubbull, for example, is all over Kanto.
-You can play as a female trainer.
-There is a Battle Tower in Olivine City that offers a unique challenge.
-Suicune doesn't run from you anymore. It's in the bottom of the Tin Tower.
-Several Pokemon learn new moves by breeding and level up. For example, Eevee learning Baton Pass at Lv36.
-The in-game trades are different. (Instead of trading a Drowzee for a Machop in Goldenrod, you must trade an Abra)
-This game is GBC exclusive.
-The graphics for several levels (most notably the Ice Cave as well as the Battle Tower) have been redesigned.
-There's a new Radio Show in Johto that can get you some great items.
-The Daycare People on Route 34 give you an Odd Egg. It will hatch in to one of the baby Pokemon, with a high chance of it being shiny.
-The Move Tutor is now available, who can teach the moves Flamethrower, Thunderbolt and Ice Beam to your Pokemon.
-It's possible to get more than one Evolution Stone of each type.
-There's a Pokemon Seer in Cianwood who can tell you where a Pokemon was originally caught, among other things.

- I can't figure out the correct order to flip the switches in the Team Rocket Basement
Start at the left and flip all switches to the right in order. You should now be able to get through to the elevator

- How do I awaken the Snorlax that blocks me from entering the cave in Vermilion City?
Get a Radio Uupgrade from the man in Lavender Town who is in the Radio Tower and tune it to 14.6. You'll have to take the Machine Part from Cerulean Gym to the Power Plant in order to do this.

- Where is Misty? She's not in her gym!
Head to Bill's House on Route 25 and you'll see Misty (and someone else....) on the bridge outside. Misty will return to her gym, and you can fight her from there. Make sure you get the Machine Part from her gym!

- When does Team Rocket take over the Radio Tower in Goldenrod?
After you beat Pryce in the Mahogany Town Gym, you'll get a call from Prof Elm, who tells you that there is a strange broadcast on the radio. Then, go to the Radio Tower, and Team Rocket has invaded.

- What attacks are based on the Attack stat? And what about the Special Attack stat?
Normal, Fighting, Poison, Ground, Flying, Bug, Rock, Ghost, and Steel are all considered physical attacks, and run on the Attack/Defense stats. Fire, Water, Electric, Grass, Ice, Psychic, Dragon, and Dark are Special moves. They run on the Special Attack/Special Defense stat.

- What is STAB?
STAB is an acronym of Same Type Attack Bonus. If the type of the move and one of the Pokemon's types match, there is a 1.5x bonus.

- What are DVs? And do they have any practical use?
The Hidden Power element (and the base damage) is based on a Pokemon's Diversification Values, or DVs. Each stat (HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, Special) has a different value. These are locked in when you catch a Pokemon.
The DVs are a number between 0 and 15. A Pokemon with a DV of 15 in a particular category can achieve maximum stats. If the DV is lower, then two points are deducted from the stat at L100. For more information, visit the DVs guide.

- What's Stat Experience?
Stat Experience is not the normal experience you see and gain everytime you finish a Pokémon battle. For you see, this type of experience is what the stat development is based on. When your Pokémon has acquired all of its maximum Stat Experience, then its statistics have been truly maxed out, based on the Pokémon's DVs of course. The total amount of Stat Experience your Pokémon can acquire is 65,536.
It is impossible to determine the exact amount of Stat Experience your Pokemon has, but you can tell when they have reached maximum when, at level 100, your stats are match the appropriate maximum for those DVs.
