Ooh, that Sandslash looks just evil! I need to try that. BTW: that Breloom is the single worst Pokemon to be against. EVER.

Note from sN0wBaLL: This topic has been split in two. From now on, the Rules and Regulations, Test List, and Hall of Fame will be located here: http://psypokes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=65

Actually, Breloom and Houndoom are the only ones that haven't gotten an official test. Usually Ghost was kind enough to offer us his spare time and try the rest (or he came up with them). He says the ones that work best are Gorebyss and Flygon. If you want to use one, feel free, we love feedback. :P

One of my favorite sets for a NU Pokemon:

{togetic}@ Lefties
Serene Grace
Timid/Modest
EVs: 252 Speed, 252 Sp. Attk., 6 HP

~Flamethrower
~Psychic
~Water Pulse
~Yawn/Softboiled (Box)

Takes complete advantage of Serene Grace. Flamethrower 20% burn, Water Pulse 40% confuse, Psychic 20% Sp. Def. down, powering up your attacks. Metronome could be thrown in there for fun if you want.

I like that a lot, actually. I've been trying to find a useful Togetic set for quite some time. I wanna wait for a third opinion, but it's probably in.

And NU = Never used? :P

How about a Relicanth?

{relicanth} Female @ Leftovers | Rock Head | Adamant
Earthquake - Ancientpower - Double Edge - Rest
EVs: 252 attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP or any of the two Defenses

No Surf or Ice Beam here since Relicanth has a better Attack stat than Special Attack stat. Double Edge to take advantage of Rock Head, Ancientpower to try to gain stats, and EQ for some major damage. And when the going gets tough, Rest all that health back.

*Reposts anti tank Banette*

Banette @ Anything, really
Shadow Ball
Skill Swap
Will-O-Wisp/Toxic
Knock Off

knock off their precious leftovers, skill swap Insomnia onto them (no rest) burn or them (damage over time, plus attack impairing if using burn) and then Shadow Ball to death.

another one I was partial to in g/s/c, and have retooled for r/s purposes

Kangaskhan @ King's Rock
Rock Slide/Bite
Body Slam
Attract
Dynamicpunch/Swagger

It's a neat set because it can be a status annoyer as well as a semi physical sweeper. I'd personally stick with Swagger since dynamicpunch is so inaccurate. If you get Serene Grace skill swapped onto this pokemon, as well as parafusetraction up, then use your flinch attack, your chances of the opponent breaking through your status wall is VERY slim.

I got a Lanturn that is pretty cool:

{lanturn} Female Modest @Lefties
Volt Absorb
EV's: HP - 252 Def - 129 Sp. Def - 129
Substitue
ThunderWave
ConfuseRay
Surf

Basically you hide behind Substitue while annoying the help out of them and casting Surf to sweep. With Lanturns high HP it is very hard to defeat this little bugger. EV's can vary though this one is more defensive.

Aren't most tanks of the Normal type? Don't most people use Snorlax or Clefable?

That is acually an Anti-Tank. Tanks can come from most types (e.g. Metagross, Starmie, Venusaur, plus more). Practically anything that has good defenses and has someway of resorting HP is a Tank.

Though anyway I have another one I call it long lasting Ludicolo:

{ludicolo} Modest @Lefties
RainDish
EV's: HP - 252 Sp. Att - 252 Spd - 6
Toxic
LeechSeed
RainDance
Surf

I have another one, it is a lot like the SandSlash though it is a bit different:

{cacturne} Timid @BrightPowder
Sand Veil
EV's: HP - 252 Spd - 252 Def - 6
LeechSeed
DoubleTeam
SandStorm
Spikes

And something I just though of:

{kecleon} Adament @Lefties
Color Change
EV's: Att - 252 Spd - 252 HP - 6
SkillSwap
ShadowBall
BrickBreak
ThunderWave (I couldn't think of anything else)

Wowee, I have a solarbeaming houndoom *exactly* like that one. Same nature, same moveset, EVs, everything. Scary o_O

How about an annoyer charizard?

Charizard Male @ Leftovers
Bold nature

Attract
Toxic
Flamethrower
Substitute? Protect? Rest?

EVs: 252 HP, 129 Sp. Def, 129 Def (yep, this looks a bit more sane)

Send it in, attract them if they're female (male attracters are weird, yes?), poison them, kill what you can with flamethrower and destiny bond when you think it's over. It's pretty simple and surprises a lot of people.

[EDIT] See, that was my old strategy, from before I realised I was making a weird moveset for a charizard/gardevoir hybrid mutant creature. You know, like you do when your brain temporarily stops working >.< Anyway, Charizard can't learn destiny bond, so I don't really know what to put in the last slot. Damn, I really liked the idea of a destiny bonding charizard. Now that it doesn't need to get DB in fast I guess it doesn't need that much speed anymore. *disappointment*

Any suggestions for the last move?

Holy Grail, there have been a lot of posts. Before any can be added to the list, we need to look them over a little.

~sNOwBaLL's Relicanth~
Seems to me most of this is fairly standard for Relicanth, but perhaps I'm out of touch. And if it was me, I would take those 256 Speed EVs and put them into Defense or Special Defense. But it's your call.

~Mr. Saturn's Banette~
Did you post this before and I missed it somehow? Anyway, looks pretty good, it's just that Captain Cool has a good point: Most of the Tankers are Normal type. So if a move other than Shadow Ball comes to mind that you want to use, please post it. And throw some EVs in there, too. *reads psycho_freak's other post* Never mind about the Shadow Ball thing. :P

~Mr. Saturn's Kangaskhan~
Hmm . . . I'll think about it.

~psycho_freak's Lanturn~
Great Lanturn.

~psycho_freak's Ludicolo~
You've got three Standard moves on there. I can let Rain Dance slide, and maybe even Leech Seed, but we need to come up with something different for the other two.

~psycho_freak's Cacturne~
For some reason, I just forgot everything I know about Cacturne strategically . . . It all looks pretty good, and only Double Team can be erased with Haze/Whirlwind/Roar.

~psycho_freak's Kecleon~
This entire set kind of depends on Kecleon getting a halfway useful type before he can Skill Swap away that annoying Color Change . . . I forget, how is Kecleon's speed?

~csharpmajor~
You see, that stuff with the Houndoom is stuff everyone does. :P Anyway, I like the look of your Charizard. We may want to think about a different nature, maybe something to bolser Defense or Special Defense (respectively, Bold or Calm). A more defensive EV spread might be useful, too, like 252 HP and then 129 into each of the Defenses.

And guys, just because I started the thread doesn't mean I'm in any way the last authority on what's good (in fact, there are quite a few sets I use that people hate). Don't like something I said? Defend yourself! Comment on other people's sets!

I like how people are getting into this after only a day. :) My dream of having a wild nonstandard moveset for every Pokemon might just very well be a reality.

Kyaaaa I was going to edit my post but I guess you beat me to it -_-;;

YES the EVs should be different. Not only that but Charizard can't actually learn Destiny Bond. For some reason I was thinking of Gardevoir. Ignore me >.<

I'll go edit my post now.

Hey PaperSun, remember the creative grumpig set we were both making.

Grumpig @ Leftovers
Nature - Modest of Calm

Extrasensory
Confuse Ray
Substitute
Mimic

Extrasensory to cause flinching, confuse ray is standard, substitute as a defensive stall, and mimic to take an offensive move from the opponent since grumpig can only seem to learn shockwave as a useful offensive.

EV's - 252 Sp. Defense or Atk(your call), 252 Speed, 6 HP

well, for EVs on that banette, I guess I'd say 252 speed, 129 attack, and 129 in HP/Defense/Special Defense. with a +Speed - Special Attack nature. (don't know the exact name)

EVs for Kangaskhan: 129 Speed, 129 attack, 252 defense (for swagger)

with a +speed - special attack(you might want to go with Rock Slide if this is the case) nature.

It doesn't matter what type it has it's main strategy comes from it's offense. When it does use SkillSwap then the enemy has ColorChange, and once ShadowBall is used the enemy turns Ghost, and once it is used again it has twice the power since it is special effective. Though it only works on one Pokemon so it has to be swapped out once it has been done.

Well, regarding your comments that Relicanth's moveset of Earthquake - Ancientpower - Double Edge - Rest was too standard, I think that most people often use Surf and Ice Beam on any Water type they have, without considering the stats first. Thus, a Relicanth with Surf - Ice Beam - ? - ? would be standard instead.

As for psycho_freak's Kecleon, I think it's quite good. Basically, all one has to do is to Skill Swap, hit the opponent once with Shadow Ball to turn the opponent into a Ghost type, and perhaps use Thunder Wave to offer more protection. Using Shadow Ball will then be super effective, since the opponent is now a Ghost type. Brick Break is a backup for Shadow Ball just in case the opponent is a Normal Pokemon.

I have a weird Mewtwo, it's mainly for stalling.

{mewtwo} @ Leftovers

Toxic
Barrier
Amnesia
Recover / Psychic / Thunderbolt / Ice Beam / Flamethrower

EVs in Speed and HP (for Recover) or Speed and Special Attack (If there's a Special Attack instead of recover) extra EVs in Defense.

This one works well, as a staller. Start with Barrier and Amnesia until it's defenses are maxed out, recover if you get damaged or You could do a Special attack move. And Toxic to make the foe suffer. I also suggest you max out the PP on the fourth move and Toxic. Though it would be awesome if you could maxed out all of them.

I see what you mean with the Kecleon now, psycho_freak. You certainly would be correct.

Snow, I see where you're going, but I still wonder about its effectiveness. Check your PMs, you should have one from me.

And RaichuLatias, I enjoy your Mewtwo a lot. Anytime we can get 00bers with wierd sets. :P

I've got some more to work on, but I'll be unveiling one or two soon, myself.

CaptCool and I thought of these.

For Single Battle:
Primape @ chestoberry
? nature (defensive)
move1: Swagger
move2: Screech
move3: Protect
move4: Rest

Use swagger and screech to damage opponent, and keep trying to protect yourself. Rest if it gets too hairy, kind of straightforward.

For Double Battle:
(this isn't the complete thing, feel free to change moves when needed)
Zapdos @ leftovers
? nature
move1: Protect
move2: Detect
move3: Light Screen
move4: Thunderbolt

Mewtwo @ leftovers
? nature
move1: Protect
move2: Detect
move3: Barrier
move4: Psychic

Since they both have the Pressure ability, it means the PP of a move will be going down by 4 each time they use it. Just Protect and Detect until struggle is being used, then Psychic and Thunderbolt, or send out better dudes.

::I don't know if the Pressure ability doubles, so if it doesn't feel free to tell me::

You at least got the jist of what we were saying in there. Change out that Mewtwo Barrier for a Reflect. I'll let the rest be.

By the way, we both skipped hanging out with our girls tonight so we could play Pokemon together. That makes us awesome.

PS - I'll be the first to admit that it does sound gay...but it's not.
