If you haven't noticed, everything from our parents' childhoods are being revived in our age. For example, almost every comic book that had superhero(es) in it are being turned into modern day movies (fantastic four, spiderman, incredible hulk, daredevil, etc.). Even old tv shows, books, andmovies are being updated. When are more original ideas going to pop up?

New stuff are continually coming up, but it's just that they aren't popular yet. I don't see what's wrong with stuff like Fantastic Four becoming movies. I like them. These things that you consider "old" should be "preserved", and not be replaced by new things.
Hope I sound coherent

Yes, I'm fine with these things, it's just that I think that moviemakers are running out of ideas.

Actually, in the "Golden Years" of Hollywood, there were MORE books being adapted into movies than there is today. I think there are about the same amount of original screenplays versus adapted screenplays as there was in the "Golden Years". The thing is that as time went by from then until now, original screenplays got more and more original. Nobody in 1950 would have dared, or even imagined to write a screenplay like Pulp Fiction, or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. So, the ratio stayed about the same, but the quality of original screenplays just got better. Also, adapted screenplays got more sources. Instead of being based only on books, adapted screenplays these days can be based on anything from books, to video games, comic books, old TV shows, etc. Unoriginal screenplays don't bother me because, well, they've always been around, and in approximately the same quantities. It's nothing new, really.

What I'm focusing on is old stuff being adapted. I can understand popular and current stuff like Harry Potter being adapted, I just can't stand seeing stuff like "Bewitched" brought back from the grave and being turned into movies. It gives me the chills thinking that next might be an "I Dream of Genie" movie. :x

Originality is relative to how much literature you've experienced.

I understand how you feel. I hate to see remakes of something original and classic, unless it really is a lot better then the first. I guess if it doesn't bother you too much, they're fun to watch.
