I've been trying for the last half hour to connect my GBA SP with my other GBA in order to trade between Ruby and Sapphire. Both of their internal batteries are down, but of course the games are still playable.

I have checked to make sure the link cable is fully connected to both devices, and successfully done that with TWO different cables in the hope one would work differently. Thus far, they've been sitting the whole time, untouched, still saying, "Please wait. B Button - Cancel."

Can anyone explain what's going on, and give me hope that my trades can actually be completed?

Thanks!

Hmm... not an issue I've ever run into. I've successfully used two wireless adapters to trade between two SPs (with Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen), but that's the only way I've tried trading between advanced gen games.

I actually ran into this problem with my friend.
What kind of cable are you using? Is there a gamecube plug to connect with gamecube games?
If so, check if the little switch in the middle is set on gameboy. If it's set on gamecube, switch it and it's gonna work.

If not, then I have no idea...

I just checked both cables, and they don't have a switch so much as two separate link-ups, one that fits into the GBA and the other that fits into the GameCube.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately those switches aren't on either cable. I'll keep looking though, because I need to make those trades. Maybe it's a function of the internal battery dying and so they can't connect in time for some reason?

No idea.

Any and all advice accepted. Thanks.

Internal batteries have no effect on the trading, since Firered and Leafgreen doesn't have any.

Maybe on of your Gameboy/ plug is broken... if there is any corrosion, put rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip (Not too much) and rub the plugs.
If this doesn't work, try with other gameboys.

Or you are probably using the wrong settings.
Also, in my Firered, there were two places where you could trade: One is for the Wireless Adapter only and the other is for battles and trading with cable.
I don't know about Ruby/sapphire... but in Emerald, it was the same thing.

And search till you find the problem! ;)

What brand were the two cables were you using and how old are they?
