When gothorita came out, I thought it was a line of dark/psychic types. I find the whole "goth" thing more dark than psychic.

I similarly though that Garbodor was going to be Poison/Steel (well, hoping really), but then he just turned out as a lame Muk ripoff.

I honestly think Dark/Psychic would be a good type combo, especially for an Uber.

And I will raise you a Scizor. He has Bug Bite.

Ones I'd like to see:

Fire/Ice (just for the lol factor, I'm aware it's super-weak to Stealth Rock)
Fire/Grass
Fire/Water (just to see how they'd pan out)
Grass/Dragon (why, Serperior, why?)
Steel/Ghost (we all want this one, admit it)

I meant from an idea perspective- I imagine a mindflayer-like evil genius thing who is like the Satan to Arceus' Jehovah, something like that. Give him good speed and enough SpAk to make Mewtwo a little envious.

^Makes sense, yeah. It still wouldn't be a good type combination for Ubers due to the reason I listed - Scizor is still used in Ubers, as far as I know. It's not often seen, but it's there.

Also, Mewtwo is best legendary.

Not counting all of Rotom's forms, then you got it right. But a grass dragon and a steel ghost is needed! Gen VI better have these type combos in it.

Ghost and Fighting would be awesome. Maybe if you give a Moon Stone to Tyrogue, then... (Also, wouldn't that kinda be killing him?)

I recall that in Platinum, this guy in the Battle Frontier, Bug Catcher Floyd, says "Wouldn't it be cool if there was a bug net Pokemon?" That could be Bug and something. Maybe Ice, to freeze it or something.

I also think that a Poison/Dragon Pokemon is needed. Maybe in Gen VI we could have a good legendary Fighting/Dragon and an evil Poison/Dragon.

You paying attention, Game Freak?

Why would we be counting types that are found on existing Pokemon again?

I dont know, I'm not the op.
CrazeyRazey mentioned Grass/Ghost as an unused type combo, which it is if you dont count lawn mower Rotom.

Mow Rotom never has been Grass/Ghost. It was Electric/Ghost and now it's Electric/Grass.

GHOST/STEEL! GHOST/STEEL! This would be awesome to see, and also interesting to see how it would pan out.

Grass/Dragon would also be nice.

****, I forgot. I always thought it was Grass/Ghost, which would make no sense now that I think of it.

when i saw it first time i instantly thought dark type

also i always have thought Gastly, Haunter & Gengar would suit Ghost/Dark better than Ghost/Poison. They have never learnt a posion type move by level-up

I think that Ghost/Poison should be unused, simply because of how much of a burden it is. Psychics were so overpowered in Gen I because of lack of a pure ghost. And bugs were a hassle because the only ones that you can get early in the game have the dreaded 1st stage evo. The good ones were hard to catch, so it was a complete waste. I think the original ghosts should be just that- Ghosts! A dark/ghost would be somewhat of a hinderance, too.
But thats my opinion.

No. Psychic was overpowered in Gen 1 for a number of reasons:
A) The move Psychic had a 30% chance to drop the opponent's Special Attack AND Special Defense.
B) The only thing that resisted Psychic-type moves was the Psychic-type itself.
C) There were NO usable Bug-type Pokemon in RBY. Butterfree, Beedrill, Venomoth, Scyther and Pinsir were all equally garbage and Parasect was too slow to be threatening.
D) Even if C weren't the case, the best Bug-type move was the amazing 50 Base Power Twineedle.
E) The strongest attack of Psychic's other "weakness" (according to type charts only in RBY), Ghost, was the even more amazing 20 Base Power Lick.
F) E is basically irrelevant anyway because Psychic was actually immune to Ghost in the game itself.

Gengar being part Poison in Generation I was a completely negligible reason for Psychic's dominance, if a factor at all. Misdreavus would have sucked even more than Gengar did if she existed in his place during Generation I.

I see your reasoning. But what about that one Channeler in Saffron City's gym that says Psychic's are afraid of bugs and ghosts?
But a Dark Ghost wouldnt be that bad. I was like "Oh, well fighting could hit it now." Then I remembered, It's a **** ghost. Fighting doesnt have an effect on ghosts.
Actually, a dark ghost would be perfect! Psychics would be all like "Crap."
As will bug and fighting types.
...
...
...
Why not just make it into a legendary's typing?

It was clearly intended for Ghost to be Super Effective against Psychic in RBY, as official type charts, the anime and the in-game script support this (although in Yellow the "bugs and ghosts" line is changed to remove "ghosts"), but it's not the case in reality for whatever reason. Go try to use Lick on a Psychic Pokemon in Red, Blue, Yellow or Stadium; it doesn't work in the same way that Ground doesn't work on Flying or Ghost itself doesn't work on Normal.

Um, also, we have a Dark/Ghost already. Two, actually.

The only real reason I picked these 3 is because of how I think some of them would look, that being quite cool. Thinking more on it, I'm sure they could be useful as well aside from the 4x ground weakness on the Fire/Poison and the 4x Ice on the Grass/Dragon.
Dark/Electric
Fire/Poison
Grass/Dragon

Like DNA, I've been wondering too, for a while, how a Fire/Water type would work from a designers perspective. Some kind of yin/yang, red/blue, steamy-looking critter? Yeech.

The Shinx Family looks like it could of possibly been a Dark/Electric type

There should be a dragon/steel type with levitate. That would be crazy awesome.
I also would like an ice/fighting pokemon with very high special attack. You could have moves like focus blast and aura sphere, as well as blizzard and ice beam.
I might try drawing these two and see if I come up with anything cool.

You must despise Normal types... I'm just kidding. Checked your work though, and found some combos that you missed. Every single one includes the Normal type...

Bug/Normal
Dark/Normal
Dragon/Normal
Electric/Normal
Fire/Normal
Ghost/Normal
Ground/Normal
Ice/Normal
Poison/Normal
Rock/Normal
Steel/Normal

Add that to your intellectual debate, fellow Pokemon fanatics!
