Have you thought about using thicker lines? That, and some shading could give it some shape.

A smiling gengar. Just something I'd been casually working on.
Done in Art Academy: Second Semester for the DSi.

Electrode wears the mischievous kitty face well, in my opinion. Another thing done in Art Academy. Not pokemon, but eh:

Thanks! First time doing scenery. Didn't really have anything to look at, so I kinda muddled my way through it.

Yeah, I didn't think the perspective looked right either, to be honest. I'm counting this one as a learning experience.

The subject matter here was suggested by my wife. It's simple, but I think it turned out all right.

A doodle that turned into something else. Not sure why I've got this thing for the Gastly evo line now. They are fun to draw, I suppose.

That's pretty cool!! By the way, were you trying to draw something semi-specific, or did it just happen to become a Haunter??

I usually start with eyes. After that, I just let the pencil move on the paper (err, stylus on the screen in this case). So yeah, this didn't start out as anything specific.
...wow, it looks way too dark. It looked a bit lighter on the DSi.
