As I recall, Ambipom can learn Seed Bomb, which is also rather odd.

Flareon learning Superpower? (I don't begrudge the firepuff that move though. It needs it, after it got gypped out of Flare Blitz)

Lickilicky can learn Surf too... (I had one on the Factory with that move)

The Ambipom thing is absolutely logical since Ambipom is actually able to spit seeds from it's mouth but & bullet seed isn't exactly always seeds from inside the pokemon but sometimes seeds that it may have put into it's mouth from somewhere (it's Pokemon so it doens't have to make complete sense, okay lol?)

The Flareon thing doesn't make sense at all until you think of it as a monster which it kind of is since Pokemon/Pocket Mosters (& I agree about it needing the move)...

The Lickitung thing is acceptable imo only because it's a Normal Type & they tend to be able to learn alot of moves from the Electric, Fire, Water, Ice, etc...but yeah, weird, very...

After I posted the Ambipom thing I thought about it again, lol... and here's another thing that never made sense to me. Fearow learning Mirror Move. Things like Delcatty and such, fine, fair enough, but a big bird with a great big stabby beak? O_o

Oh, here's a -really- weird one. Flygon can learn Giga Drain. (Again, from the Factory).

Drapion can learn Aqua Tail...

And Lucario gets Bone Rush.

On a semi-related topic of odd moves, as someone's sig on another forum said... "When Entei roars, a volcano somewhere erupts. Entei learns Roar at lv 15. O.O" which made me laugh...

Lickitung makes sense due to the fact that fat=buoyancy. seriously, i was in a scuba diving class, and before you can start, you have to pass a couple of swimming test; swimming 200 feet, and floating on your own (well, at least keep your head above the water) for ten minutes. all the people who were overweight (grossly, not trying to insult fat people, but just saying) had an easy time of it; my poor twig of a brother struggled a little. but, yeah....

maybe lucario got bone rush due to martial arts training?? the bone acts as a weapon of sorts....

You have a good point with the Lickitung thing (I had to do that because Singapore requires you to be able to tread water for a certain amount of time when you take swimming proficiency tests), although then Snorlax should be able to learn Surf... >_>

That would sorta make sense. But where is the bone it's using? O_o

in the body of the pokemon that last fainted XD. idk, maybe it has a magic pouch with a bone and nunchucks and a sword in it (more lawlz). srsly, idk, which is why it belongs in this thread.

O_O

Gee, Lucario... lol.

Yay, I contributed something ^_^ I have to say though, Flygon learning Giga Drain of all things was something that gave me quite a surprise when in the Battle Factory... although i stalled out a Porygon2 with it ^_^

you know, i don't think it's flygon that learns giga drain, but vibrava, which looks like a bug, imo (not sure on the typing, so....). and lots of bugs learn giga drain, so you would just let vibrava learn it, then evolve it.
EDIT: checked the psydex, and vibrava learns it via TM. either way, though, i still don't think it's that weird....

Come to think of it, that also explains why Skuntank can learn Flamethrower... lol.

For Pidgeot, remember that it also gets STAB from Normal-type moves...It's just that Tackle and Quick Attack aren't very powerful moves.

That it does, which is why Falkner and Blue both have Return on their Pidgeots. (I would too, if I had the patience to train one.) It's just a pity its STAB Flying moves are so pathetic.

Then again, Nidoqueen and King can both learn Surf too... and Ice Beam and Flamethrower >_>

Hey! Don't call that an oddity! The only reason one would use the Nidoroyals in battle is because of their sheer versatility and their balanced statistics! On the other hand, nobody in their right mind would teach Rhydon to Surf.

I would somewhat disagree with your statement about the Nidoroyals. I use a Nidoqueen on my Stall team to set up Toxic Spikes and block Electric attacks aimed at my Vaporeon, and she works splendidly in her role.

I agree with the Machop line. It does bother me that it can be either male or female. I'd rater GameFreak make a female counterpart for the Machop line where it looks muscular but still has femininity.

Another thing that still bothers me is that there can be a male Lopunny. There also needs to be a male counterpart for that, if not, just make them all female.

I want to defend the mean look on zulbat... even if you don't have eyes you can make a mean face at someone...

Three more humerous moves for skuntank are punishment, memento, and smokescreen

finally one that annoyed me is that riolu can learn crunch, and blazekick, but not both.

also zubat can learn fly too... yes, you can soar high above the region dangling from the mouth of a 41lb bat with no eyes and no grasping appendages (hence hanging from the mouth)

The surfer that doesn't seem right to me is ramparados... srsly wtf? it a rock bipedal dinosaur.... what part of that says surf?
In response to LadyMiir... the lax family can lean surf as well, same with makuhita (another chubby poke)

someone also mentioned flying pikachu... just to be annoying, i would like to point out that the promo art for yellow forest clearly shows the flying pikachu using baloons.

And for the gyrados flying... why stop at that question... the real question is why doesn't it learn ANY flying moves?
