I was playing through my Pokemon Yellow, beat it. Then I started playing my PKMN FireRed. It seems a hell of a lot easier than RBY. PKMN seem to level quicker, Wilds and Gym Leaders seem to go down easier, and It just seems to be easier! Those who think so, say I!

Red and FireRed both seem pretty equal in difficulty to me.

You sure Yellow's not just harder?

Meh, my Pikachu isn't really that bad in Yellow. Just train it in Mt. Moon against Zubats and in Rock Tunnel against Machops + Against any water trainers and your rival's Gyarados and Pidgeot. It'll be much better.

FireRed has lots more features which make it easier than Red. It had that invaluable help menu that Red didn't if you were a n00b. Your PKMN level up much quicker, You can get more PKMN, etc.

Your Pikachu generally sucked in Yellow against most fully evolved pokemon that were on par with it Level wise, that being said this is my difficulty ladder;

1. Pokemon RGB
2. Pokemon Y
3. Pokemon FRLG

Pokemon RBG was harder because of things like bug being weakened by poison & vice versa & the limitations where as yellow broke some of them by letting you do things like obtain all 3 starters at certain points in the game & by giving your rival a pokemon with the same type as your starter thus making him(the champion) easier also, then you have FireRed & Leafgreen where you get abilities, more attacks, Charmander even gets Metal Claw to make it actually able to beat Brocks pokemon by itself & also the Gen I Type match-ups are slightly different then the now used Gen 2 Type match-ups thus making things flow a little better at the start of the game like making Caterpie & the Nidorans more safely usable at the starting portion of the adventure...

i would say

1. Y
2. R,B,G
3. E
4. R.S
5. D,P, Pl, Hg, Ss

Notice that all the hardest games dont have vs. seekers.

also @ the guy about pikachu- its not a level problem i can and have trained him to 100 but i was just pointing out his inferiority in that generation.

For Yellow, the Gym Leaders' Pokemon were of a higher level than that of Red and Blue. So it does seem that the gamemakers wanted it to be a harder version of RB.

I've been playing through my FireRed again the last couple of days, and for some reason, it just seems like my game in particular is rampantly just being "cheap". Not necessarily hard, as I have yet to come even close to losing a match, but in FR/LG, there seems to be WAY more critical hits on both sides, sleep wears off on the enemy after 1 round, poison stings poisoning my pokemon 4 times in a row, etc. Just little things like that are making my current playthrough downright infuriating, if not difficult.

This was only to compensate for being able to obtain all 3 starters

I will say the hardest Gym leader from any game is : Yellow's Koga.

Koga is a pain.

His Venanats and Venomoth in Yellow got the luckest crits and abused double team..

Beat Him, but he was able to take down my Charizard, Snorlax, Pikachu, Venasaur before my Blastiose got the job done.
