How do i play classic xbox games on my 360 without getting an update from xbox live? Can i play classic xbox games on an arcade? (I have a hard drive and theres still a lot of memory in it). I've tried using a usb device and ive updated my xbox but i still can't play classic xbox games.

Yeah...unlike the other 2 systems of this Gen, the Xbox 360 has no backwards compatibility so there is no way to play those original Xbox games without purchasing them from the Xbox Live Arcade though I don't know if this even is possible seeing as I myself don't own an Xbox 360 but have played on & looked up the info in regards to backwards compatibility, sucks but hey...

I was playing Sonic Heroes the other day, I just popped in the disc and it played fine.

It seems that provided you are connected to XBox Live, anything extra you may need to play an old game should be downloaded automatically when you're going to play it anyway. And most games are compatible to a good extent, so the compatibility issues really aren't much trouble.

Yes!...Jade Empire apparently will work though it won't go wide screen but whatever...
