it looks like it could be a dark/fire type as people have said but this is only going off the red colouration. since the new versions are black and white they could possibly be producing new starter type ie dark, psychic, gohst and zorua could be the basic of one of these starters and obviously zoroark will be the first evolution

I find that very doubtful. If it were the fire starter, you wouldn't just get the baby and 1st evolution, you'd either get all three baby starters or all 9 Pokémon, 3 types, 3 levels.

Dark, Ghost, and Psychic don't make a type triangle. Psychic is ineffective against Dark, and does neutral damage to Ghost. And before you say Dark, Psychic, and Fighting, neither do they.

Nah, I totally bet they're gonna stick with the Grass, Fire, Water triangle, but add even weirder subtypes.
What if they did Grass/Dark, Fire/Psychic, Water/Ghost?
*sigh* One can only dream.

I would really hate if the Grass starter had Dark as it's secondary typing...we all know what that did to Cacturne...weakness sanctuary...
& Zoroark is most like a final evolution so...I'd start to rule out the possibility of it being a starter...meh...

I think it would be really interesting to see a Water/Ghost type, or a Fire/Psychic for that matter.

Yeah, I actually just said those to be ridiculous, but I kinda want them now...
Water/Ghost especially. It could be like a zombie water dragon or something.

A Water/Poison starter would be pretty cool, too. Like a sea anemone or something.

An electric eel... why haven't they used that yet?

Void, I agree, I always thought that would be an awesome idea. The closest thing is Huntail, but he's not electric.

Yeah... if Huntail had a second type it would probably be Dark. And Huntail looks more like some kind of deep-sea fish to me than an eel, personally.

I always wondered why Huntail and Gorebyss weren't Dark and Psychic, respectively.
They learned the moves for the typing, and Gen III was all about shoving new type combinations down our throats.

Haha, hey. I still love a bunch of the Pokemon they gave us that time around,
but even a Gen III fan like myself can admit they went a little overboard with the mix-and-match-ing.

Maybe that's why I was so off set by that generation... :/ well, that and the clean style... That generation just seemed....foreign....like, more so than any other spin off (except maybe the Ranger games).

I totally agree!
It's actually my LEAST favorite Generation simply because it's always seemed "foreign" (good word for it).
Glad to know I'm not the only one.
I hope Gen V won't be the same way...
Like, it'll feel like a natural progression rather than a jump into the middle of nowhere.

Yay! Someone on my side! :3 I think generation 4 was a step in the right direction though. It seems a lot more tied down to the original color games.

It's certainly an improvement on sinnoh. Probably an improvement on Hoenn. I'd love to see these types of staters:
Grass/dark
Water/dark
Grass/steel
fire/psychic

There is no way it's going to be a starter.
-Starters have three stages: only two were given.
-Other starters weren't released with it.
-Starters are typically not the first Pokémon to be released.
-Dark is an extremely unlikely, and unfair, starter type: the Pokémon given were said to be dark type.
