Throw a Heavy Ball when its HP is in the red.

It weighs over a ton, one should be enough.

Well, you never know what could happen. you can catch it on your first try or it could be a lot more, depending on how stubborn it wants to be.

I was thinking the same thing. I hadn't picked up my 5 Heavy Balls before i fought him though, I also didn't save for a long time, so if i shut it off to get them, I'd be playing a while.

I tried that. I still got out. The fat ass got out of a heavy ball, without shaking once!

Okay...I will say this now...this is not to make catching Groudon a flawless capture but a highly probable one...Legendaries have unusually low catch rates period...just saying...

This is a good stradegy however, when factoring in the low HPs part...

Lol, I think you mean unusually LOW. And anyways, its all luck and how much you lowered his health and whether or not he's paralyzed, Sleeping or not, and what ball your using. I caught a Ho-Oh using only 5 Ultra Balls, when at the point that I first tried to catch him (and ended up killing him) it took 15 and would've taken more if Whirlpool didn't go for the next round and take him down.
