Now remember base stats are not full stats, full stats can be altered by Adding 0-31 IVs, 0-63 EVs and +/- 10% By Nature

An interesting idea, but an useable pokemon usually requires a combination of stats. For example, a physical sweeper would want both a high Attack and a high Speed. (That of course ignores the fact that abilities and learnset can hamper abilities).

I'm curious if you count abilities for this, because if you do, then Pokemon such as Azumarill and Medicham would surely rank higher on the Attack ladder. Medicham has 480 Attack if you're counting Pure Power and Azumarill has 436 counting Huge Power. This would place Medicham at #2 with 480 Attack, just below Deoxys-A, and Azumarill at #7.5, being two points below Groudon and Rayquaza, but twenty points higher than Rhyperior.

Also, if you count Pokemon-specific items (i.e. not choice band, specs), then Marowak has the highest attack stat with 568 using his Thick Club. To further this, a Shuckle using Power Trick has an Attack of 614, both of these are higher than Deoxys-A.

You understand these are base stats, right? Pokemon specific items are just that, items. Same with abilities. They increase the total stat of the Pokemon, not the base.

I understand that, but for example, all Medicham come with Pure Power, why not count that into it? Base stats can be somewhat misleading, I was just curious if he counted abilities/items into it.

I think the point is that stats alone cannot be used to define a pokemon. If they could, then the computer program that could generate this stat list could be modified to build teams...going by stats alone, pokemon like Regigigas, Rampardos, and Slaking might be predicted to be decent OU pokemon, and yet Smogon considers them NU. The idea with different pokemon is, of course, that they cannot be ranked alone; but only compared to others in the context of a team or opposing pokemon. (How could you rank OU sweepers, for example?) Actually, this guide might mislead newbies into thinking that building a balanced team is as simple as choosing pokemon ranked highly in each stat.
