I borrowed my cousin's Pokemon Sapphire today, and when i first turned it on, it said:
"The internal battery has run dry, the game can be played, However, clock-based events will no longer occur". iirc, the Berries won't grow because they are based on the internal clock. In RSE, I don't think anything else is affected... But don't quote me on that.

The tides in the cave north of Mossdeep City will be affected. Berries won't grow.

I believe the TV events like the Department store sale require the clock as well.
