ive always started with fire types too but in RSE swampert isnt the bast starter. Its moveset just sucks. You need good tms to utilize its stats effectively. Blazikens good attack and also sp attack compliment the moves it learns which are all mostly STAB attacks. Sceptile is easily the worst starter ive ever seen in my life. Typhlosion and Charizard were good :)

Mudkip, since I like water pokemon. Treeko annoys me, while I don't really like Blaziken much.

I think that's why I started with Torchic, too. I start with Fire on every game, accept on my first games, LG and Diamond; Squirtle and Turtwig, since I was such a noob and didn't know more than 20 pokemon at the time and liked those 2 because they're turtles. THen I got FR and Emerald, and I started with Fire on the rest of my games, accept Platinum sine I don't like to have the same starter on 2 games.

In each region, there's a beginner that's most Dragon-like, in this case it's Sceptile, right? I know Charizard can know a couple Dragon moves, and so can Feraligatr. But which one is it in DPP, Torterra?

Actually, Torterra is the only one to learn a Dragon-type move.

Torterra learns Outrage through Platinum move tutor.
Infernape learns absolutely no Dragon moves
Empoleon learns no Dragon moves.

therefore I would say Torterra is the one most like a Dragon.

Oh, sweet! I HAVE to lend my Torterra to my Platinum game for that. Where's the Outrageous move tutor? (pun)

Notice that this topic is in the Hoenn section. Therefore we are supposed to be talking about Hoenn starters. I chose Torchic.

Personally, I chose Torchic, because he was a very good starter pokemon. Being able to learn double kick as a Combusken was able to help me get past the first gym leader, and then it was all down hill from there. Torchic is the ideal pokemon if you want to speed through the game, like I did when It first came out. :/

I chose, Torchic.
Whenever I reset my game and pick Mudkip or Treeko, I can't get the game going.
With Torchic, I can "Do more things" with it.

I also like Blaziken as the last evolution.

Mudkip because I always start with a water pokemon during my first time through the game. Also, {swampert} is awesome and only has one weakness.

i chose treecko because the game is one that i borrowed from a friend to get the starters to diamond, he allowed me to keep it for awhile so i still am playing with treecko trying to catch the legendaries

Mudkip is the cutest! <3 Too bad he becomes an ugly Swampert, though...Treecko is just ugly from beginning to end, and while Torchic is adorable at first, what it becomes is SCARY. Plus, a little swamp creature seems more original than a little chick. And water is my favorite type!

I chose Torchic because it's the only of the three starter types I couldn't get early on. I was able to find a shroomish in Petalburg Woods and that was able to handle May's Mudkip fairly easily most of the time.

Kinda old thread, but.... I chose {treeko}
It was my favorite design, and the storyline was kinda hard to complete with it.
