Hi, I have a few questions. I'm from Europe, where games and consoles are generally very expensive. But now I'm going to the US (New York), so I think I'm going to buy a DS and a game or two. So...

#1: What does a new DS (Lite or not) cost in the US?
#2: What does a new game (say, Platinum) cost?
#3: Will I be able to link with PAL consoles?
#4: Would you recommend me to buy used consoles and games from eBay instead? (consider $10-20 for shipping to Europe)
#5: Do you know about any place to buy used consoles and games in New York?
#6: (question about the games) When I trade a pokemon from a generation 3 game to the generation 4 games, when you catch them in the Pal Park, do they keep their old nicknames and Trainer ID?

By "wouldn't work" I assume you mean I can't buy European (PAL) games for it, which isn't going to be a problem. The games are too expensive for me anyway (around $75), so I'm just going to order games from eBay if I want more. And then it is actually quite an advantage to have an American DS. I don't know anything about DSi, I didn't know that there was anything newer than DS Lite So a DS Lite would cost what, $100-120?

In New York, you are able to go to the Pokemon Center, a massive Pokemon "shop" with lots of merchandise. I believe there is a DS Lite with and engraved Dialga or Palkia and yet the price remains at $130. And I think you can buy Platinum there, too.

The DSi is really new, and expensive. Get a DS Lite.
