I was planning on starting yellow over, and using a gameshark to catch any pokemon at the beginning.
What pokemon would you suggest I use?

Good pokemon? Well lets see...It's back in the day of yellow...Get bulbasaur as a starter and than catch a flying poke, maybe pidgey and evolve it. Than get a electric pokemon like pikachu and you should teach them different typed moves... can't think of anything else but just go from there.

^that post contains so much fail.

Well, you start with Pikachu, then get the 3 starters since they are in-game. Then maybe 2 of the legendary bird? I like Zapdos and Articuno but you already have an electric Pokemon...

I would get Charmander, Dratini, Gastly, (Gengar if you can't trade) Magikarp, Scyther, and Chansey. They don't work together very well, but that doesn't matter in-game.

Since you'll be using a game shark, just have all the legendaries and you are all set up. or you may have {charizard} {alakazam} {gyarados} {snorlax} {scyther} {dragonite}

Well, if you want pokemon with high stats, go with Zapdos, Moltres or Mew...But seeing as you already have an electric, fire and psychic type, then maybe a strong physical attacker (Rhydon or Machamp) or Aerodactyl/Dugtrio for speed.

I don't have Yellow, but my team on Blue is pretty good, you might be able to get most of these

{venusaur} {raichu} {vaporeon} {ninetales} {kadabra} {snorlax}

It's a good and pretty balanced team, and if I need to fly around, I normally take my Pidgeot with me and put snorlax in the PC

Hmmmmm, well it depends how u play it. If you are just casually playing through the game then any team will beat the E4. However, if you are serious about it then you gotta drop the ledgendaries because they are banned. I would suggest any of the following, you can mix and match them however you want:
{charizard} {dugtrio} {alakazam} {machamp} {golem} {slowbro} {dodrio} {gengar} {rhydon} {starmie} {jynx} {electabuzz} {magmar} {lapras} {jolteon} {snorlax} {exeggutor}

A good team is a balanced team. Legendaries, for all their power, might be difficult to train. (I'm not sure if all Gamesharked Pokes come in around Lv. 5 or not...)

I would suggest some good type combos based on the Gym Leaders/E4 types.

Electric (Pikachu is a great mascot, ain't it?)
Water (useful in 2 gyms, works on 2 of E4)
Fire (useful in 3 gyms, works on 2 of E4)
Grass (useful in 3 gyms, works on 3 of E4)
Psychic (useful in 3 gyms, works on all 4 E4)
Flying (evade with Fly)
Ground
Fighting

By no means do you have to follow this pattern (not like you can actually have 8 Pokemon anyway... :P )

But I hope this helps!

AEPMT :D :) :P :wink: :mrgreen:

playing through the game with a dratini would be sick.

then you would be a true dragon master.

like me....

Psychics and waters are generally good in rby, and some normals like chansey and snorlax. If you're just using it to play through the game, and you're getting them all from the start, mewtwo seems like the way to go.

Why would you even use gameshark? It destroys the whole experience of playing a pokemon game! I get the feeling that your a pushover and a novice from the fact that not only are you using gameshark to cheat and get all of your pokemon early, but your also asking for help in doing so!

I highly recommend Psychic pokemon! In Generation 1 psychic pokemon had only one weakness (bug), most bug pokemon are half poison anyway, and they had an immunity to ghost pokemon. Very very powerful. Life is sweet without dark pokemon.
