Ho-oh is better it has less weaknesses then Lugia and with Lugia it has a lot of weaknesses so go with Ho-oh if u want to beat every trainer u see but if u want to lose aganst every tranier u see well then go ahead pick Lugia dont say i dident warn ya.

uhhh Diamond55000...
ho-oh has less weaknesses yeh, at 3 with a 4x to rock
but lugia has only one more with 4 and his defense is much higer than ho-ohs, and his weaknesses are only x2.

o.O; But wouldn't that not be a good thing? I figure, if it's so tough it won't take anything under a Master Ball, it has to be better than a Pokemon that can get caught by an Ultra Ball. Am I wrong to assume this??
Also, I prefer Lugia, but either one is good, really. It doesn't matter if I can train 'em up right.

Ho-Oh.
I'm somewhat Biased, but I've always loved Ho-Oh. Always been my most favorite pokemon. Just so colorful, being themed on the rainbow. Sailing above the clouds on seven colored wings sounds much more appealing than making whirlpools to suck people up. And as for Ho-Oh being 4x weak to rock types...that's why they invented WATER TYPES!! Z000MG!! And at lvl 100, rock types still don't hurt my Ho-Oh much, and my Ho-Oh has lowest-of-the-low stats for it's level.

Lugia because as much as I love fire I hate Ho-oh and he wasted my masterball in silver and he was just insanely awful.

Well, perhaps you would care to define how he was "insanely awful", since the term alone really doesn't do the trick. And also, calm down. It's a game. Bits of pixels working in organization. However, although Ho-Oh is weak 4x to rock types, Lugia has more weaknesses in total. I don't know about the general population, but personally, I would rather have two 2x and one 4x than five 2x weaknesses, because although your weakness is more extreme, you have a lesser chance of Finding a pokemon with moves that your Ho-Oh is weak to, as opposed to Lugia, which possesses more weaknesses in total, and therefore is more likely to encounter moves which are supereffective.

If you're talking to me Ho-oh's a lvl 70 in Silver, he just flat out sucks, I've been bitching about this since long before you were even a member so don't treat me like an idiot on one of the most basic things of the argument. Also, it's better when you catch them at lower levels, if you trained a lugia from 40 to 70 I guarentee it would whup the wild lugia in gold. I'm not a complete idiot.

Please calm your raging spirit. it was merely a misunderstanding. The legendary in the opposite versions are at level 70. i forgot how it's like in crystal but i like lugia better though. looks much more appealing.

Despite the fact that Ho-oh looks way cooler, I would have to choose Lugia. On my silver version, even a much lower level Lugia was much more useful than the Lv. 70 Ho-oh I caught. Aeroblast and Psychic proved to be very useful moves. Plus, I already had 2 fire types, and , so Ho-oh on my team was redundant.

First off, Lugia is my absolute favorite Pokémon, so I might be a little biased, but:
For GSC, Lugia definitely rocks. Since in Silver you get Aeroblast and Hydro Pump, Lugia can clean house because of the Elite Four's overall weaknesses to Flying, Psychic, and Water/Ice.
However, in my Pearl, Ho-oh would be the victor. My Lugia has Defense and Special Defense of 300+, but its Attack and Special Attack are only mid-100's. Ho-oh, on the other hand, has everything in the mid-to-high 200's.
Plus, in general, Ho-oh's movesets allow for more versatility and battle against different types.
