The first game I played on NES was Super Mario Bros. or R.C. Pro AM. Mostly likely the latter, because it's the earliest memory I have of playing video games. I was about 3 or 4 when I first started to take an interest in video games, and I got to play my mom's NES. Sadly she gave it away to my cousin, but I still played it at her house, and a few years later, I got a Sega Genesis + Sonic 2.

I'm pretty sure the first video game I played was Super Mario Brothers 3, or something from the NES era. We had an NES and my brother (3 years older) and my dad loved it. We had a few games and I loved watching just as much as playing, so I'm not really sure exactly what my first game was.

The first game I owned myself wasn't for a few years since there was no point buying each kid their own NES. My first console and game was a Gameboy Pocket and OMGPOKEMONRED.

... But yeah, I think SMB3 was the first game I played.

Super Mario 64 :( and Wave Racer 64. I got scared out of my mind when I played SM64, so I only played it for 5 min, then I played WR64 and drowned.

Wave Race*

I loved Wave Race 64. We got it about a year and a half after the N64 I think and I totally had the time of my life playing it. And uh, you can't drown in that game.

It was the first game I bought for Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console, too... I think.

The first games I got for N64 were Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing and Star Fox 64 and to this day I STILL love them all.

My cousin had a bunch of old game systems (and still does). I barely remember playing Kirby's Adventure at his house.

...My second memory would be Super Mario 64. :( My parents wouldn't let me play video games because they thought that I'd grow out of it, etc., and I didn't. My neighbor had a N64 which I would come over and play all the time until he gave it to me upon getting a GameCube.

I believe the oldest memory I have of playing video games was when I was playing Ghostbusters for Atari 2600 in '88, but I bet my first game was Pac-Man or something just as popular for the same system. lol @ Mario 64

The first game I played was Dr. Mario. It's also the first memory I have.

The first game system I got was a SNES, and the games I received with it were Jungle Book and some other game. These kept me amused for my age, but my favorite game that I got later was Super Mario All Stars, which featured SMB 1, 2, 3, and the Lost Levels. My favorite of those was SMB 3. Then a few years later when I was 7 or 8 I finally got a GameBoy and my first game for that was Pokemon Blue. :p

It wasn't one of the first games I played, but when I think about being a kid it stays one of the ones that was probably one of my favourites -- Mario Paint for SNES. Although all I really had at home to play was Super Mario Bros 1 - 3, I was never any good at them (in fact, I'm still not any good at them), but Mario Paint was awesome.

Because I don't have any older siblings, I didn't get much exposure to video games at a young age (and am much worse off for it... *sigh*); however, I still played a bit of stuff on my cousins' consoles. I remember playing a platformer/shooter version of Alien and a Captain America platformer, but I'm not sure what console it was. Something pre-3D, anyway. Though I'm not sure if it was the same console, I also played what I now know was Sonic 2 (I think it was the Genesis version, not entirely sure). Also, I remember watching my eldest cousin play a generic PSOne racer and finding it boring as hell.

First game I owned would prolly be Age of Empires on the PC, or Pokemon Gold. Not sure which one came first.

Duck Hunt.

I was around 4-5 years old at a daycare and a bunch of kids were using a doohickey to shoot at the other doohickey. I was like "omg can i play?" but I had to wait about an hour because of the long waiting list.

So I did. And I played it and I liked it. The next day I played SMB and I was forever hooked on video games.

Ahh...I remember it like yesterday. I was about 2 years old, and my mom pulled out her NES to keep me busy while she was preparing for my sis' Baptism party or somethin....Super Mario Brothers was the first game I played and thus started a new legacy in video gaming

Ever have any of those kids that would sit right up against the TV and press the zapper to it so it was nearly impossible to miss?

I was always one of them.

I hated the flying discs, they were even harder than the ducks. :[

It was either Pitfall, Solar Jetman, A Boy and His Blob, or Little Nemo: The Dream Master. I don't remember.

It was probably Super Mario Bros. for the NES. If it wasn't that then it was Sonic the Hedgehog for the Genesis. So many memories come flooding back to me.....

First video game I ever played... I can't remember which, but it was either Super Mario Bros. (NES) or Legend of Zelda (NES). I loved my NES, still remember playing it like it was yesterday. Had all the best games, too. LoZ, Mario, Tetris, the first TMNT game... Ahh, memories.

I believe the first video game I played was Sonic the Hedghog 2 for Sega Genesis. I got it when I was around 3, and played it for years. I could never beat the boss after metal sonic in Death Egg Zone :( . I also got NHL '94 and Andretti Racing at around the same time. Too bad my Genesis doesn't work anymore...
