i have been spending fruitless hours(1.5) tryin to find feebas that i chelked each tile twice (i.e. 2 bites) with no success. so now i have to start over. so before i begin again i want to clear up which rod is better to use for fishing for feebas because i have seen many different articles some stating to use the super rod and others saying to use the old rod thus i want to clear that up. Also how many times should i fish in each tile and how often does feebas appear in the tiles in which it inhabits. (i.e. not just how many times to throw the rod but how many bites, because sometimes there is no bite)

Use the super rod. The more times you try the better. There really is no set amount of times before you catch one. <s>If you are in DP it will only show up in 4 spots a day. Don't give up though. If you really want it just keep trying. Or you can trade over the GTS for one.</s>
He Posted in the HOENN forum for a reason.
Try fishing in each square probably 3 or 4 times with the super rod. Feebas will show up about 75% of the time in the six squares it's in, out of times when you actually hook a pokemon. I don't know of any difference in number of bites in those squares, though. -JsXtm

never mind
i changed the popular phrase in dewford and the third tile (not even exagerating literlly the third tile) i chelked i ran into a feebas... man i feel so lucky.

but now i have another question, if i trade pokemon with another game cartridge, does that automatically change the phrase in dewford, if so then i'll need to catch all the feebas i need/want before trading

I don't believe trading affects the Feebas Tiles at all. Mixing records probably would affect it, though.

I searched for like FOREVER and never found one. I gave up and asked my best friend to breed one for me so thats how I got mine. And to this day in RSE and DP I have never seen one in the wild.

for me, the square was right under my nose. I just hadn't found it because I hadn't fished there enough. the only trouble with it is that the feebas only appears about 30% of the time, not 60-80% like the guide says. it's that one square that I can fish from land...so you wanna fish quite a few times.

Maybe you're just unlucky D=

Also, it might have to do with the rod you're using.

There was this ONE time where i followed some cheat to finding feebas, and i found it only 3 squares off of the stated area (but that was probably a COMPLETE fluke). Just sticking this in but, why cant some phrases be accepted sometimes?

Checking each square about 6-7 times, while it may take forever, can almost guarantee you'll find one.

Sometimes, when trying to give the Trendy Phrase man in Dewford a new trendy phrase, he does not accept it and the old phrase is kept.

However, the squares are randomly changed each time the phrase changes - so the phrase is not directly related to which squares contain Feebas.

Huh... no idea why that happens. The phrase is directly related, but so are your trainer numbers, including the hidden one you can't find out, so it might as well be random.

If you have the same phrase on two different games, you could probably find out the hidden number somehow. (I'm not sure about that, though)
