I found a cheat in yellow to make Pikachu happy with you as soon as you get it. To do it you have to

1.Get the potion
2.Use it on Pikachu
3.When it comes out of the pok

I've heard of that one too, although I've never tried it. If it does work, then good find, it might help some people.

This may be a bit misplaced, but does anyone know if this trick works in any of the later versions like GSC?

No it won't work. It only works in Yellow version.

You just have to heal it often even if it loses like 1 Hp in battle. I recommend going into the grass and using Growl till he gets hurt and then heal him. Eventually, he'll like you.

Something happened to my Yellow, and now I can't get Bulbasaur. I'll try this potion thing and see if it works.

Getting Bulbasaur is purely determined by happiness. My friend's friend (and myself first time round) couldn't get him even after I got Mewtwo. Second time round I got him right off the bat.
Just use Pikachu in battle almost all the time and there should be no problems.
To know if your Pikachu is happy enough for Bulbasaur, he should be jumpin 4 times really fast, like he had coffee.
To know if your Pikachu is as happy as happy can be, there should be a heart around his head, like when he saw the Clefairy in the Fan Club in Vermilion.

I don't know if that Potion thing actually works, but I doubt it.

Actually, when I did it, Pikachu really liked me. Maybe it is just me as a Trainer.

So what you're saying is:

Using a HP recovery item on a PKMN with full HP will make it like you more.

It may be what happened, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will work on any pokemon.(plus what else in Yellow has a happiness factor in the first place??) I know for a fact this works, and the bulbasaur is quite handy :D

When you begin the game and pikachu has full HP, you use potion over and over again on him, and then he will be happy.

Yes, but in this instance, it still has an effect. THe message "it won't have any effect" comes up, but after you do it a few times to a completely healthy Pikachu on Yellow version, its happiness increases rapidly. Seems dumb, but it works.
