I desperately need a fighting type for my team, but I can't seem to find one I like enough to use. I've looked over each one and I have to say that they all fail to meet my needs, but like I said before, I need one...
So far I like:
I've got a nice Breloom
Poisin Heal + Toxic Orb
Jolly
Spore
Wake-Up Slap (maybe switch w/ Focus Punch)
Leech Seed
Rest (egg move I didn't replace yet)
It works, but it doesn't fit with my team well since I already have a grass-type.
I know how awesome Heracross is, but I'd rather not use one because it's such a mainstream battler everybody would have a counter ready for it.
Lucario/Infernape both fail to EQ. Nuff said.
I'm left thinking about using Poliwrath. (is that bad?) If I do end up using it I was thinking
Adamant
item??
Bulk Up
Ice Punch
Waterfall
Close Combat
Is that a good idea?
BTW so far my team is Sceptile, Starmie, Tyranitar, Skarmory, Lapras... But I can't give out all of my secrets...

off the top of my head (and i know this is a CRAZY idea - please don't slap me):
hey, you don't want to use hera, cause he is overused, right? so use some one NO ONE would ever use!!! hey, he can't be that bad anymore right (all "punch" moves are now physical)? anyway, think about it, and i really like you Breloom set!!! very creative!
p.s. do you have wi-fi? i have been reading your threads a lot, and then your advise on my slobro, and you know what you are doing! i just want a battle, and test my mettle against someone beside my 10 year old cousign!!
p.p.s. my cousigns STRONGEST pkmn is empoleon as follows:
drill peck
brine
surf
hydro pump (pretty pathetic, no)

Thanks. There's a quite a few really skilled trainers here, I never really thought of myself as being close to their level.
Yeah Hitmonchan could work. Especially since I just found out that Poliwrath can't learn Close Combat, so I guess it's out...
So the moveset
Hitmonchan + Focus Sash?
Adamant?/Jolly?
EVs?
Ice Punch
Mach Punch
Counter?
4th move?

you could give it both ice and thunder punch so it works simliar to a boltbeamer. you would want a jolly nature to try and out-speed some pokes(although i havnt checked its speed. Maybe focus sash/agility for an extra boost. Its ability iron fist boosts punching attacks as well i think. So....
Hitmonchan@Focus sash
Jolly EVs:252 atk, 252 spd
Ice Punch
Thunder Punch
Mach Punch/Sky uppercut
Agility/ Bulk Up

I use this set in BT
@ Focus Sash (???)
Adamant (very hard to get on him), EVs 252 Atk, 124 Sp Def, 124 Spd.
Ice punch
Thunder punch
Fire punch
Sky Uppercut
Not much but it wallops the BT nuts.

I like Infernape out of these choices. It's the quickest w/ the exception of C-Scarf Heracross. and Flare Blitz and CC on Ape rack up tons of damage, especially with Life Orb.

if your team already has "Sceptile, Starmie, Tyranitar, Skarmory, Lapras", then its full enough of "mainstream battlers". i like blaziken as well. choice scarf with flare blitz is awesome. its just too bad he cant learn close combat too. but i reckon heracross would go nicely in this team.
and by the way, you dont necessarily need a fighting TYPE, maybe just put a fighting move on your next pokemon. maybe salamence?

Back on Poliwrath, it'll work if you know how to use it.
@Salac Berry
Jolly, 252 Att, 252 Spd, 4 HP*
Substitute
Belly Drum
Waterfall
Return/Brick Break
Yes, Return. I mean it. Water/Normal hits EVERY type in the game for at least nuetral, save Empoleon, Dialga, Giratina and Shedinja. However, since it seems you want a fighting attack, there's always Brick Break with much more things that resist it.
*VERY important. HP HAS to be divisible by 4. To make it devisible by 4, adjust the EV's a bit by either adding 4, 8, or 12 EV's to HP. Take the rest out of attack, it won't need it much.

if still going with hitmon:
hitmon
thunder
ice
mach punch
revenge
always prefered revenge to counter, power is double even if special attack. as for an item... is there one to increase speed? cause he will need it. but his defense is decent so, maybe not so much?

That's devious. I like it, but I don't have a Salac Berry. Looks like I'll be playing PBR to get one. With the sub out, couldn't Focus Punch work instead of Brick Break?
"Boltbeam" Hitmonchan... Sounds fairly decent. But isn't Hitmonchan's base speed too low to effectively sweep with this "Boltbeam" strategy?

why no? it has potential and covers boltbeams types. what's wrong with it?!!!?
also, you could use drain punch as an option opposed to revenge. esp. with hitmon's abillity. makes base power = 72. okay, doesn't sound as good on paper, but at least you get half back

yeh its disgracefully slow(for a sweeper) so you would have to BP it some speed, but i dnt think that fits in with team.....

Right, but consider the fact that the turn you use Belly Drum, the opponent will most likely attack.

I have 3 potential sweepers not counting the fighting-type in this thread. I didn't post anything but the pokemon names to withhold my strategy. Sure, Tyranitar's in there, but that doesn't mean it's your average thrashmaster.
You gotta go against the norm and keep chumps on their toes if you wanna win.
That's the idea behind my team.
