Definetely gardevoir! Not only is she good at battling, but she's also good at contests. Also, I heard that Alakazams have really bad defense.

Alakazam- High Sp. At. and Speed
Gardevoir- High Sp. At. and Sp. Def.
Pit them up against each other and it's obvious who wins; however, gardevoir is not suited for sweeping due to it's only ok speed

he/she was probably refering to Diamond and pearl, in which there are no male gardevoirs anymore.

There can still be male gardevoir in diamond, if you don't use a dawn stone on the kirlia before level 30.

You can't deny that gardevoir looks... femine
That's part of the reason that gallades are only male

Gardevoir sucks with her speed but can kick some tail.
I loved using her in RSE.
I have ?: Is Gallade a nice addition to a team? I'm thinking about getting one.

I don't know much about Gardevoir, but even though Alakazam has high Sp. Atk, I heard that because of D/P's changing of his elemental punches to physical moves his wide movepool dropped a ways. But I dunno. Personally, I still favor Alakazam over Gardevoir.

I think I favor Gardevoir, but for reasons unknown to me.

Gallade is mostly an offensive guy. He's kinda like Hitmonlee, only not as good: Good Atk, good SpDef, ok Def and Spd, but bad SpAtk. It doesn't learn any special moves though, and learns 4 moves by leveling up with high crt% chance (Slash, Night Slash, Leaf Blade, Psycho Cut).
And yes, there can be male Gardevoir, provided you don't use Dawn Stone on the Kirlia instead. Yes, it's weird. Like male Roselia.
But back on-topic:
I think Alakazam is much better. Great special sweeper and the likelihood to OHKO most of the time, due to incredibly inflated SpAtk. However, if the opponent survives (which happens around 8.5% of the time), Alakazam may be pretty much dead. But, of course, not without causing a lot of pain.

I think Gardevoir is better, especially if you team it up with a Gallade.Buit the speed thing is sort of a bad side.

BOTH!
But if you are only going for one I personally prefer Alakazam although it did loose the elemental punches it did gain Shadow Ball (switching to special), Focus Blast, Energy ball, Charge Beam and Grass Knot, these all work very well on alakazam and allowed it to still be a formidable sweeper.
Don't get me wrong I love Gardevoir, psychic is my favorite type and so I have tried many different movesets for most psychic pokemon and I can say that both pokemon are great but for me alakazam wins out in the end.

It depends on which moves you give them, my Alakazam is a strong offensive and my Gardevoir is defensive, but only because of the moves I gave them... and you should factor in the vitamins, EV's, etc.

I usually pick Gardevoir, but that's just my personal preference. i love the entire line. I loved the way ralts was available so early on Ruby/Saphire/Emerald
Plus one thing i like about gardevoir is that you can breed destiny bond onto it. Destiny bond is one of my favourite moves and lets me take out pokemon that may cause a lot of trouble to my team.
That said, Alakazam does have speed on its side, so it's often the better choice for sweeping (though i usually have a ninjask to pass speed boost onto whatever sweeper i'm going to use.

umm i'd go with gardevoir becauseof the lvl 60+ moveset it learns the hypnosis-dream eater combo is a very powerful and useful tag-team move that pises ur enemy off and takes their health too!! Beat that alakazam! lolz P.S. You should have made a poll to this thread also

Dream Eater is too unreliable, as soon as you have used it once it is too easy to predict and when predicted correctly by the opponent allows for a free switch for them.
