Poison type moves will never be known, if you attempt to ban poisonous pokemon. Let's face it... Without poisoners, namely, Toxic& Sludge Bomb! It'll be a tricky task to takedown tanks like... Wobbuffet, Blissey or Umbreon, etc. Usually the best option to go with.

Anyway, I still think the idea of having light types is an sensible decision. They'll replaced bug& normal types, or another type, or even represent itself as a type... Who knows :P

Edit: Wind > Flying!

I wanted to type out my comments on this matter, but I realised that would only be a more poorly phrased version of Frost's post :P

Since the days of RBY I've always felt that Psychic and Water Pokemon are easily the best types, while Poison is the worst type. While Psychic is less powerful now, since there are more Pokemon, moves, and the Dark type to counter Psychic Pokemon now, Water still remains a strong type, as Frost has said. And don't even get me started on Poison Pokemon; no offence intended to Poison lovers.

^I agree, although poison can arguably be called the worst, but without them some of our stronger types would be less valuable.

peole say bug, because it's underpowered.

How so? It really isn't any more. DP has introduced so many new bug moves, as has RSE. Bug is a perfectly legit type now, I'd say..

I cannot think of many GOOD poison pokemon, but if I had to, right off of the bat, I would say the only 2 good poisons would be Drapion and Toxicraok. Poison/ Dark- only weakness gone =D
Poision/Fighting- only weakness x 4 + another weakness =D

honestly, I agree with the idea to add the light type into the next generation, but also your all saying also makes sense because if a type like but is dropped, the other types that are already unfairly strong might get ridiculously stronger and the game will be obviously screwed up.

I still gotta admit the light thing is good

I still think there should be a crystal type. They would be rock or water pokemon that, by exposure to certain conditions, have been turned into crystal and receive new attacks, stats, strengths, and weaknesses.

Seconding the idea that Steel has no point. It's pretty grossly overpowered, defense-wise, and doesn't really seem to add much to the game, imm-hoe.

Though that might mean the loss of Aron and Mawile, which would make me sad.

Aye, each type has its good moves, strengths, and weaknesses. I personally think because they should keep Poison because the most useful move in the game is Poison type. Can't think of it? It's Toxic. Virtually every Pokemon can learn this move (that is crazy though), not to mention there are only 2 types out of 17 it doesn't affect, Poison and Steel. But then again, there are the weird things. If they made Dark, you'd think there would be a Light, but there isn't. The game is fun that way, and also weird that way.
There are numerous other examples (like the one Frost mentioned is a good one), but the Toxic example is the one I picked, after all, no Poison means no Toxic.

Well, actually, poison does effect poison pokemon, it just can't poison them. You can sludge bomb a grimer, but you can't toxic a grimer.

whats the point of steel? I may be missing something but are they super effective against anything? (Maybe rock, I don't feel like checking) they are just very hard and shiny ground types... the only actually metal thing I can think of off hand is Magneton.

Steel and Dark were both made so that Psychic pokemon wouldn't be as strong.

Steel = resistant to Psy
Dark = Sup. Eff. against Psy.

Hmm.... You got a point there. But you know what really amazes me? That Fire isn't super effective against Water. Honestly, Water evaporates when hit by fire. How retarded are these Nintendo people?

Yes, that's exactly why we use flamethrowers in flood situations.

Protect and Detect still add up the odds of failure.
