okay so i bred my hitmonlee and ditto and got an egg and hatched it into tyrogue.
i'm trying to get a hitmontop but tyrogue's attack is greater than his defence. i've tryed giving him iron but his defence stat won't highten. i've tried lowering his attack stat too but that doesn't work either.

any suggestions?

I have 4 different games and only have hitmontop on 1 of them, I think that is one of the hardest to get, anyway heres what I did i kept breeding til I got one that it's stats were even then when I leveled it up got a hitmontop.

Also, try preventing his evolution until his stats are equal. I think his attack and defense have uneven growth curves, but if you're lucky, he'll usually be even by the mid 20's, and then you can let him evolve into Hitmontop. Good luck with that, though, getting a Hitmontop can be challenging.

One Iron won't raise defense. You need more.

nah. i got hitmonlee and hitmontop too, but even if you use iron to max out his defense( like i tried to with my tyrougue supposed to be evolving into a hitmonchan) its defense might not get increased alot, like mine, the def stat of my tyrougue only increased by 6 or 7 when i used 10 irons. After that, if you use more irons, it just says " it won't have any effect" Because when you hatch a tyrougue, they have different stats. So just try hatching another one. Btw, if you try to keep leveling it even until late twenties, the defense stat might still not be same. I tried doing the same thing to try get a hitmonchan(def higher than attk) but it did NOT work. So i gave up trying to get one, cause i had the data anyway.

It's Def will have a slightly greater increase every time you level, cause you just gave it 100 EVs...you could EV train and max out Def if you need to
(or EV train Atk if you need its Atk stat higher)

Just give to tyrogrue carbon or calcium or whataver you need to max is stats

If you have a ton of money, balance the stats with irons and Protiens
