I just found my Latias. I didn't pay attention and my Wobbuffet wasn't my lead so it ran away. Now, I'm playing hide and seek with it. =[

**EDIT**
I just used the Daycare method.

I went to Route 117 and checked Lati@s location.

If it wasn't in 117, I went in the Daycare & out.

Checked again, and if it wasn't, I repeated the step until it was.

Now I have a brand new spiffy Latias =]

Now I'm going to try it on my Ruby for Latios.

Attack with Leaf Blade and HP Ice (the less power, the better), the false swipe. Chuck ultra/timer balls. You could TossBall/Detect/TossBall if you wan =P

What's HP Ice/HP Detect? Is it Hidden Power or what? o_O

**Edit.

I have a tag-on question.

What if you Encore Lati@s while it's using Refresh. Can you then switch pokemon to do damage, then swap back to Wobbuffet before Encore is over? Or will it flee inbetween?

**Edit x2.

Sorry for such long of a post. It works but once the Encore is over, Lati@s flees. I guess Wobbuffet's trait doesn't stick once you swap it out. =[

i tried listening to everyone never worked

after like 10 hours finally i found a way

get a pokemon under level 40 and use max repel
then go to the route left of the fortree city and go to the weather institute
use max repel then run around in the grass for like 10 seconds if he doesnt show up go back in the weather institute and repeat till u see him it worked for me

this works best just for seeing him for the first time
if u r going use a pokemon above level 40 dont use repel or it will repel lati@s

it worked for me fine hope it helps

I am happy to report that this worked for me! It took 15 tries, but it worked! I saw Latias for the first time, now I can track it. I used Super Repels instead of Max Repels, and when I ran out of Super Repels I just started defeating the Pokemon in the grass, then the only one left was Latias. Thanks again! ;)

Update: Ok something odd is happening. I save the game because I saw Latias was in the area. So I battle and I can't catch it so I turn the game off and try again. Seems like this doesn't always work  4 of 5 times Latias isn't in the location anymore...I thought that if you saved the game it saved it in the exact spot. I guess Latias is that random...grrr

I did the sableye method and it doesn't work for me. I see Lati, I try to use mean look, but lati runs. I went to lilycove and bought a bunch of carbos so my sableye is at full base speed i saw Lati again, but it ran, so I got the quick claw, and I saw my Lati again, and it ran...

{sableye} Lvl 53(Lati catching/Battle Frontier)

Shadow Ball
Toxic
Psychic
Mean Look

Speed: 90

P.S: If any one has and idea how to improve my sableye, P.M me.

its speed has to be way higher than 80. you will have to level it up a bit.

noone has mentioned this, but here is a good team for catching the lati@s:

{smeargle}
mean look
spore
false swipe
recover/double team/baton pass

if its level 100, it should be able to take plenty of hits (if they ever wake up), and also get them down to 1hp in one hit. keeping them asleep means they wont use up their moves and end up struggling themselves to death.

if you want after mean look, you could baton pass to an umbreon (of any level whatsoever) with the moves:

{umbreon}
baton pass
double team
sand attack
anything

then use double team and sand attack 6 times while lati@s cant touch you (dark type) and then baton pass back to smeargle who can start sporing again.

or you can just clone some masterballs ;)

Finally I found a way to find Latios/Latias first evolve your Goldbat to Crobat and train it to lv. 46 between those levels it will learn mean look (MAKE SURE YOU HEVE A TROPIUS THAT KNOWS SWEET SCENT AND A MAX REPEL OF SUPER REPEL)
Now, go to where Latios/Latias is then use Max or Super Repel 1 route near Latios/Latias then keep using sweet scent : Latios/Latias will get attracted to the Sweet Scent and will show up then when it shows up use Mean Look (MAKE SURE THAT CROBAT IS FIRST) mind the luster purge
(Stock up on Max potions or Full Restore if Crobat is your choice)
BUT TOO BAD FOR ME THAT I KILLED THE LATIOS ACCIDENTALLY BECAUSE I WAS BOTHERED............. ANYWAYS

this worked for me
I was looking for shard and other stuff so i could clone and i used max repel and my blaziken was a lv50 so i was looking and then as soon as i run out of repels and move around more I find the latias and its a shiny one :D :D :D then never use any other ball than ultraball unless you have a masterball cause i caught it with ultra at first go (if you are going to use mean look then attach a quick claw to your pokemon incase youre too slow)

Location changes depending on where you go. Say its on route 115 and your on route 116. If you move to its route it will go to a different route. CAT AND MOUSE

Uh... Sweet Scent doesn't work directly with Repels because it attracts all the other pokemon as well and it's just a waste of Repel.

Just caught Latios. It appears to work like this: Each time you move from a route to an adjacent route, Lati@s will do the same. Each time you move to a route that does not link, Lati@s will appear in a wholly random location. Note that certain buildings, such as the Weather Institute, are considered non-adjacent. As such, if you can get to the general location of Lati@s as indicated by the Pokedex, you're in decent shape to find it. Now comes the catching part. Naturally you don't want Zigzagoons and the like getting in the way, so several Max Repels are necessary. Repel works on any wild Pokemon of a level lower than the one at the top of your list. So you will want to head your team with something in the high 30s, with Shadow Tag or enough speed to pull off a Mean Look. That, or you use the Master Ball.

*nods in agreement* I've noticed this too. I try to get him to come to my by going to the border between two routes that have grass on either side, then running back and forth and frequently checking the pokedex to see if he's in my area.
Also, it may just be my imagination but it seems to me that the encounter rate for normal pokemon drops sharply just before Lati@s appears. If I run through the grass for almost a minute and don't hit anything, I know it's time to switch Sableye in ^_~
IMO Sableye>Wobbuffet for this purpose, because by the time my Wobbuffet was strong enough to survive Lati's attacks, she would KO it with one Mirror Coat. (I tried--at level 27 she fainted when hit by Luster Purge, at level 28 she killed Latios.) But maybe mine is just the wrong nature/EVs... -_-;

(slightly off-topic) By the way, pokemc33, I'm pretty sure you can't max your speed using vitamins. You can get them up to 100 effort points, and then you have to battle for the other 152. And if your Sableye is a low-speed nature (brave, quiet, relaxed, or sassy) you'll have to deal with a 10% lower than average speed in any case. Sableye can have a speed higher than 90... if nothing else works you could always level up some more.

Shadow tag is actually an ability, not a move ^_^ This is kind of nice because one, you start the battle with it on rather than having to use it really fast at the beginning, and two, it doesn't take up one of your move slots. To my knowledge, the only pokemon who has it is Wynaut/Wobbuffet.

This page has a list of pokemon that learn Mean Look: http://www.psypokes.com/dex/techdex/212
I would recommend Umbreon or Sableye because their Dark type protects them from Lati's Psychic type moves. But if you don't feel like waiting for level 40-something to learn it, there are plenty of alternatives.

well thx i need my sableye up about 12 lvls now for mean look:(

and im still working on my second master
my main pkm id number is 32105
if it matchs the most of your Pokemon id number(ex:starter)then its most likely to get your master ball
any other pokemon you trade will be maybe a pp up

Mod Edit: Do not double post. I've merged your posts.

I was able to catch Latias yesterday actually with just a level 42 Crobat. The move set for it was:

Mean Look
Bite
Fly
Astonish

Other than that you just need alot of Ultra balls or Timer Balls.
