Taser wrote: ^I saw that post, and I still fail to see the point. From observing a lot (and I mean A LOT) of pokemon's maximum stats time and time again, I've come to a simple conclusion: if a pokemon's going to have really good stats, like 394 and 350, it usually has crappy stats elsewhere--unless you're using some cheap legendary, or those few pokemon that aren't cheap and have good stats all around.
The point was that stats mean nothing. The Eeveelutions aren't that good because they don't learn enough useful moves to make them stand out compared to others. Medicham, Magneton and Dugtrio don't have the stats of "Legendaries," but they're still some of the best Pokemon one could use in battle due to their movepools and/or abilities. Dunsparce, Smeargle and others are similar on a smaller scale.
The Eevees, on the other hand, all have pretty solid stats: three of their stats are over base 90, which is above average, and the other three are base 60-65, which isn't horrible. While the Eevees have decent stats, they also have mediocre movepools, and that's what hurts them. You generally need a good combination of stats/moves/ability and many of the Eevees simply don't have this. Three Eevees are so common on NB partially because of Baton Pass; without it, Umbreon would disappear completely and we would see less of Jolt/Vaporeon.
(Sidenote: there is nothing wrong with using "Legendaries"; Uber Pokemon are the ones who break the game. There's nothing overly powerful about the Legendary Birds/Beasts/Regis/Pixies or even Celebi and Jirachi.)

Is it best training Eevee for a bit before evolving it to whatever, or is it better evolving them as soon as possible?

*shrug* You reserve the right to your opinion. All I'm saying is, I'm a big stat person. I realize that it's necessary to have good movesets too, but I can work with what I'm given. If that makes me less knowledgeable or less skilled, then I'm sorry. That's how I roll. Baton Pass-free and all.

I realize that--I tend to like the legendary "trios" in the games (especially Suicune). I just think it's cheap when some player who knows NOTHING about the mechanics of the game making a team of, say, Dialga, Palkia, Arceus, Mewtwo, Mew, and Deoxys. That's a disgrace, unless they're just fans of legendaries, and don't actually want a challenge.

Jolteon's always been my favorite of the Eevee evolutions since I started playing when Blue/Red came out. Though I've not used it since the 2nd generation it's still one of the more viable evolutions in its family.
I experimented with Espeon and Umbreon a bit, but I never used them much in favor of other alternatives. I was a bit timid with the use of Espeon since dark was a new type and was around a lot since most of the people I played with either had Mew or Mewtwo on their teams.

I don't really use the Eevee family much, but back in the Red & Blue days, Jolteon got my vote. Not as a battler, but because it looked the best in my opinion. (Not to mention, Electric types are one of my favorites.) Now with the new ones, I would have Umbreon and Espeon as a duel tactic. Worked great for me in Colosseum. Also, I don't relay on Baton Pass because too many people use it. On the other hand, I haven't tested out Leafeon or Glaceon yet so I can't make a solid opinion about them yet.

To me Glaceon is by far one of the best, in my first game, I had raised it to level 100, and it's stats were through the roof, and it's regular moveset was awesome. It's also very affectionate, making it a great pokemon to teach return to.

Right, so your Umbreon with the absolute worst nature for special attacks has two special attacks out of 4, an HP gain, and Last Resort? So, the strategy is to stall until you've used the other moves then try to sweep with Last Resort?

I have created an Eeveelution team which has proved very useful and sucessfully beat the shinnoh league with it. From my experience with it The biggest thing is playing to there strengths, Take Umbreon (My Favorite) Can take a lot of hits and if it holds a lagging tail and uses payback it hits hard. Leafeon is the only I didn't use, finding it was the one that basically kept fainting, being that it had the most weaknesses. (So give flareon some slack I found it even more useful). There is more powerful pokemon I'll admit but they can go the distance when used.

Well my all-time favorite Eeveelution is , despite it being underpowered. I just think it's absolutely adorable, especially for a Fire-type, who usually tend to look more "badass". Second on the list is either Espeon, Umbreon, or Glaceon, then the rest.

My favorite Eeveelution is definitely Espeon. Umbreon being in a close second. I also like Vaporeon. I never cared for the others as much.
