Probably Jolteon or Umbreon, but my favorite has to be Claceon

i would say Glaceon. After that i would say {espeon} then {umbreon} . {jolteon} and {vaporeon} are ok. {flareon} and Leafeon i can't stand.

In terms of defense, sweeping abilities, looks, or general usefulness in battle?
Defense: Umbreon.
Sweeping: Flareon, Vapoereon, Jolteon, Glaceon, Leafeon, Espeon. (in no particular order)
General Usefulness: Depends on what you want. As a baton Passer, Jolteon or Espeon. Toxi-trapper/tank = Umbreon. Sweeper = everything else.

So they can be useful in battle but all I hear is that they are only good for baton passers???

I think Umbreon overall kills them all, has great defenses, and can get speed if you either raise it as an Eevee, or EV train it.

it wont matter when you evolve eevee, once he does his speed will go back down to what it should normaly be. (EX. level of evolution doesn't effect ending stats) ev's will stay however.
but i have to admit umbreon is pretty good as a toxi-tank-trapper

The Johto Eeveelutions are my favourite (Espeon, Umbreon) but I like all of the Eevees. My Emerald team is Espeon, Umbreon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Jolteon and Eevee :]

My verdict: the Eeveelutions are all extremely overrated, especially in-game, where Baton Passing isn't that great of a strategy. Half of their stats are below average and their movepools are even worse. I don't understand why people are orgasming over Leafeon, for example, when it's supposed to be a Physical Sweeper and can't do anything more than Leaf Blade and X-Scissor? Yeah, Skarmory (or anything else that resists Bug/Grass, which is a lot) totally fears that moveset, whoamg. And Glaceon? Well, any generic Water Pokemon could do anything she can.

Out of the Eeveelutions that are used with any amount of frequency in competitive battling, Jolteon's so common because he has the added bonus of being able to pass Agility, Vaporeon can pass Wish/Subs, and Umbreon passes Mean Look. Don't even tell me that Umbreon is a good "Toxitrapper" because that's a horrible competitive strategy, and your opponent will generally laugh at you for trying it. Flareon and Espeon have nothing to pass, and, therefore, they're not seen as much. Seriously, if the Eevees didn't learn Baton Pass, they wouldn't be used, just like Espeon and especially Flareon. They're simply too limited otherwise.

For the record, my favorite Eevee is Flareon, the poor guy who got even more nerfed by the transition from RS to DP. I think the most useful in battle is Vaporeon, who totally puts Glaceon to shame in being able to do anything useful at all.

I've used Jolteon in Red, Vaporeon in Yellow, <s>Umbreon</s> Burakki in Silver, I have a <s>Espeon</s> Efui in Crystal, and when time rolls around in Diamond, I am TOTALLY getting a Glacieon.

Are they good/better/best than the others? I'unno, they're all been good assets for my teams... I also haven't been doing serious competeing, so none of them wound up as tanks/sweepers. They were just good Pokémon.

...I am partial to Jolteon though, >_> My first Eevee-lution and whatnot.

Best stats for all the "eeveelutions" (first listed is the better of the two)

Vaporeon: HP and Special Attack (Ability: Water Absorb--restores up to 25% of maximum HP if hit with a water move)
Jolteon: Speed and Special Attack (Ability: Volt Absorb--restores up to 25% of maximum HP if hit with an electric move)
Flareon: Attack and Special Defense (Ability: Flash Fire--prevents from being hit with fire moves, and also boosts the power of own fire moves)
Espeon: Special Attack and Speed (Ability: Synchronize--if inflicted with paralysis, poison or burn, opponent is inflicted with the same condition)
Umbreon: HP/Special Defense (tie) (Ability: Synchronize--")
Leafeon: Defense and Attack (Ability: Leaf Guard--Any status effects on Leafeon are healed when Sunny Day is in effect)
Glaceon: Special Attack and Defense (Ability: Snow Cloak--Glaceon's evasion rises in a hailstorm)

ouch frost, that was really harsh and true about the eevee, i 100% agree with you, flareon is also my favroite of all pokemon........the whole family seem like a team you would use but not for competitive battling, maybe win some ribbons in contests with them :)

I chose Umbreon becuz its a great TOXITRAPPER! YAY!

No. I chose Umbreon because
A) Its a midnight pokemon (which I will be using a lot more of now)
and B) It was rated 5 starz in Tiger10Xs list of good pokemon. as a baton passer. Thats pretty much how I build my teams, since Im too lazy to actualy compare stats. CTRL F ***** = teams. LOL

But ya, the EEVEElutions just...No. They Ph41l. But my favorites still Umbreon, and Im still looking forward to a dragon eeveelution, or a ghost eeveelution. Even if they suck.

I'd like to know why the Eeveelutions are getting so much crap. They're no legendaries, but using a team completely comprised of legendaries is cheap anyway. Their stats tend to be good if you get good natures and EV train them--each has a maximum stat of 394 (Umbreon has two), and two-three other stats above 300 (about 350 and 317). When you look at, say, Arceus's max. stats, 372 across the board, I'd say that's pretty good, even with the give-and-take of two or three lower stats. So, why are they so awful?

To sum it up, the Eevees fall under the catogory of some of the stats are ok, but others can do the job better. Plus they can't learn squat. Like Frost said, if it weren't for baton pass, it wouldn't be used. Thats why we give evves grief. Like I said though, Dragon type eevee would look awsome and would PWN in contests. :D

^I saw that post, and I still fail to see the point. From observing a lot (and I mean A LOT) of pokemon's maximum stats time and time again, I've come to a simple conclusion: if a pokemon's going to have really good stats, like 394 and 350, it usually has crappy stats elsewhere--unless you're using some cheap legendary, or those few pokemon that aren't cheap and have good stats all around.

*shrug* that's just my opinion, but if you dedicate the EV focus and train them from level one, they have quite a lot of potential, the way I see it.

EDIT: And I don't use mine for Baton Pass either. But I agree, a dragon-type Eevee would be l337.
