wow, quint posting, F-ing incredible. Anyways chapter 9 is up, with an interveiw! the experiments will never again be updated as with the game being restarted and all I couldn't resume, anyone who wants to name their guy Yoh (caps included) and continue several experiments, great! The if you people contribute it will be a lot better, and also, if you have something you want up, say it now, as the psypoke edition ends at 10 chapters! When I say psypoke editions its because eventually when I get the E4 up and goin as a site, I'll post this there, and may update. Contribute, to this, and to the E4 website! Also, if you help enough the E4 will go live with its own sprite bank, of "natural sprites" my genetically altered superhuman sprites! and GLITCH sprites!

bobashotmace has given a lot of time to this, and this is very helpful.

I'm not sure why it's called "Missingno Glitch", because you always can get =='M== but not always Missingno. So for now on I (just me, no one else) will refer to it as the 'M glitch. (they weren't equal signs, they were glitch blocks)

I decided to get a Blue version and try both the Mew glitch and the 'M glitch myself. They worked quite well, and I will record how I pulled them both off safely. I usually have good luck with stuff like this, so here goes:
(I did Mew glitch about 2 weeks ago, and the 'M glitch I did yesterday AND today.)

MEW GLITCH:
This one is guaranteed to work. Infact you can make any Pokemon appear, even Missingno. I got both Mew and Missingno this way. BTW you can fly away from some other people, like one person on Route 11.

For Mew: (when - right after I got HM02)
Saved at exit of Underground Path
[NOTE: You must save here, otherwise you will not get your desired results.]
Pressed Down then Start. Menu opens...
Fly to Cerulean. Gambler notices me, I fly off.
Go to Route 25 and beat the Slowpoke kid.
Fly back to Lavender and head to Route 8.
Menu opens. I close it.
Wild PKMN music ensues.

-Wild Mew (lv 7) appeared!
-Go! Jigglypuff! (lv 11)
[I don't remember exact details as this was some time ago...]
-Jigglypuff used Sing! (no effect)
-Wild Mew used Pound!
[etc., etc., etc.,]
-DNA used Poke Ball!
-Gotcha! Mew was caught!
-New Pokedex data shall be added for Mew!
-Mew was sent to Bill's PC! (I said NO to the nickname)

Now, the Missingno. variation!
(when: right after i got the Master Ball)

-Save at exit to Underground Path (otherwise Magmar appears)
-Flew away from Gambler guy
-Go to Lavender Town and battle a Chaneller on 3F
(The top one on 3F doesn't work_gives you Magneton_but the other two do work.)
-Battle Chaneller and win
-Walk out to Route 8.
-Menu opens. I close it. Wild Battle Music ensues.
-It stays blacker longer than normal...
-Wild Missingno. (lv 7) appeared!
(form: pixel L, cry: variant of Nidoran m)
-Go! Mew! (lv 11)
-Mew used Transform!
-(short pause)
-Mew transformed into Missingno.!
(I did this actually before I got Master Ball, but I turned Gameboy off w/o saving. The three times I tried it with Mew, he always transformed into something different looking!)
-Enemy Missingno. used Water Gun!
(I kept using water gun, as did it)
-DNA threw Great Ball!
-Darn! It broke free!
-Enemy Missingno. used Water Gun!
(As soon as you see Missingno. or =='M==, your 6th item in the bag gets +128 copies. So, I used a copied Master Ball.)
-DNA used Master Ball!
-Gotcha! Missingno. was caught!
(I had an open space in the party. I've heard 'M and Missingno. do weird things to your storage. So I didn't take the chance.)

WHAM It appears in my party at lvl 7.
If you store Missingno. in your box after you get it into your party, nothing bad happens. Bios on both glitch PKMN at bottom.

'M glitch:

This is not only influenced by your Trainer name (bobashotmace posted the code, but it only works if your name is 3, 5 or 7 characters long), but also the last place you were at (if you had the game on before you pulled this off. I went once to PKMN mansion then pulled off the glitch, and I saw Ponytas and Muks. Anyway...)

-Go to Viridian City (with an open slot in party)
-Talk to Old man and watch his demo.
-Fly to cinnabar.
-DNA got on Gyarados!
(surf up and down strip)
-Wild Golduck (lv 141) appeared!
(at this i went WHOA)
-Go! Dugtrio (lv 40)!
-Attempted to flee. Successful!
(yeah! that proves how fast Dugtrio is! He runs from Pkmn 100 lvls higher than him!)
next battle:
-Screen is black longer than normal.
-Wild =='M== (lv 0) appeared!
(form: pixel L, cry: Zapdos variant)
-Go! Dugtrio!
-DNA used a Master Ball!
(I had Rare Candy in 6th slot this time)
-Gotcha! =='M== was caught!
-(refused nickname, later called it "M-Block" but then released it cus that name stinks, later caught another lvl 0 'M)

(Notice he keeps fighting even after caught.)
-DNA used a Master Ball!
-Gotcha! Ditto was caught!
-New Pokedex data will be added for Ditto!
-Ditto was sent to Bill's PC!
(I looked in the box and sure enough there was a lv 0 Ditto. I took it out, examined it, it had Transform and needed 1 exp for a lvl up. then I looked again and said wth! Now he's lvl 1? I lvled him up to lvl 4 and deposited him again.)

Now for the Bios on Missingno. and 'M:

Missingno.
Type: Bird/Normal
Stat-wise: High attack, low speed, very low def and special
Level-up rate: Slower than normal (I assume he'll have 1.25M exp at lvl 100)
Moves: Water Gun, Water Gun, Sky Attack

If you look at his stats, there will be no picture, and you will hear a Rhydon cry.
Missingno can learn some TMs, and it does not evolve.

'M
'M is exactly the same as Missingno (but my Missingno was a tad better), except at whatever level, =='M== evolves into Kangaskhan! weird... It'll go:

What? =='M== is evolving!
(does Zapdos cry but shows picture of Kangaskhan)
-press B
(does Zapdos cry and kangaskhan picture)
Huh? =='M== stopped evolving!

Now for the bad news: the precautions:

1) If you have cloned an item, and find one on the ground and your pack is full, when you make room and pick it up, one of the item will be x99, the other will be xsome other number. Also, don't switch those two items. The glitch number will downgrade to a normal number. My example was a Rare candy. When I swapped the two in my bag I got one x99 and the other x11 !

2) Whatever you do, DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT, when you attempt to withdraw your glitch, DO NOT CLICK SUMMARY THEN IMMEDIATELY WITHDRAW! BACK OUT OF THE BOX AND GO BACK IN AGAIN! Should you fail to heed my warning, your glitch will become a Rhydon upon withdrawal that needs 778633 exp for a level up (even if it's lvl 2!!)! I found this out the hard way, lucky me I saved before I experimented with my box, so i turned off.

3) This one I find very comical: If you swap Missingno. or 'M into the lead position in your lineup then engage in a battle, everything will be backwards! This includes your own (but with Missingno how can you tell), your opponents, and the pictures of you and your opponent. With yours they will look somewhat "broken", but the opponent's are completely backwards, flawless UNLESS: You use an attack like Surf, Slash or Razor Leaf (or your foe uses an attack like Tackle, Tail Whip or Quick Attack that causes their own sprite to move) that causes their image to "flash" when you do damage (as opposed to Thundershock, Thunder, or Bite), the image will resurface diced up! I believe the reason for this is is that the game tries to recreate the backwards sprite in its correct form in individual strips but gets messed up in the process. If you take the individual strips and mirror them all (mentally) you recreate the original picture. This "dicing" can lead to jokes like (this is my joke:) lol my slash -or razor leaf- was so sharp it slashed you up into pieces hahaha.

4) I have heard that Missingno. and 'M cause weird things to happen to your stored pokemon even if they're not sent to the PC. I have not looked at this but I'll reply when I investigate.

5) I have also heard that the glitches mess up your Hall of Fame with weird Pokemon at lvls 200+. I haven't beat the champion yet but i will investigate. Then again, looking at the messed up pokemon could be really fun!

6) I can't comment on Missingno.'s three other forms (skeletal and ghost) because of my name, but if you have a name like Zowayix you can find them, because you must have w, x, and y in the 3rd 5th and 7th slots.
No fair taking that idea because someone else already has (saw this on youtube).

7) If you do the 'M glitch long enough to clone more items (like TMs) the 'Ms will no longer be lvl 0 but instead lvl 80. Luckily they still have same moves and low stats so they should be easy - also killing them gives 1634 exp!

More with news on the Hall of Fame bit:

I have to admit I abused the Rare Candy thing; I raised my Pkmn to lvl 55 before taking the E4 on. When I got to the end (I brought 'M for fear of my storage being corrupted), 'M's backward image was normal but he copied the appearance of the last pokemon who slided up, in my case Dugtrio (appearance only, not stats). When i went to Viridian City I went to the PC and checked the Hall of Fame. Except for 'M having no picture (and he never does) everything was normal. That is...until I decided to get more TMs with the 'M glitch. Everytime you do the glitch the pokemon in the hall of fame list change, and it was sooooooo funny (from my point of view). Wacky things happen - Weird Pokemon over lvl 100 with even weirder names!

Records for:
highest lvl: Machoke, 250
lowest lvl: Snorlax, 10
two weirdest things: A rattata lvl 97 that sounds like Golduck,
and a Missingno or 'M lvl 217 that sounds like Dragonair.

Their names were at least 40 characters long - wth? - and the lineup is one I'd never use. I even found a glitch that sounded like weird background music!!

Also some other news: 'M can appear at either lvl 0 or 80, time is unrelated.
Missingno. is still in my box and my storage Pokemon are perfectly fine.

*EDIT: Recently I stored 'M (now lvl 50) in my box, beat the Elite Four, and everything's still fine. Except for Hall of Fame 1 which, of course, is permanently screwed. Now I duplicated even more TMs so #2 is screwed also...woohoo!

On blue I left my missingno (I didn't know about the glitch I just happened to capture it) and left it in my party. When I checked back it was a level 30 rhyhorn how does that work?

Well, if you check in your party it may sound like a Rhydon (both Missingno. and 'M sound like Rhydons on the stats screen and have no pictures), but that should have no effect on their form or battle cry except if you were in the PC, examined it, then deposited/withdrew Missingno. Then it becomes a Rhydon with the name Missingno. or 'M requiring a ridiculously high amount of exp for a level up.

*EDIT: hunter, you say Missingno. evolved into Kangaskhan? Missingno. to my knowledge does not evolve at all, rather that 'M evolves to Kangaskhan ('M looks the same as Missingno.), and both can morph into Rhydons if you go to the PC, examine it, then deposit/withdraw. Whatever you do, don't do that.

Hm... Are you sure? I caught MissongNo in Red vesion, evolved it, and I got a Kangaskhan.

I tried all of these glitches out on a Blue version so that may have something to do with it, though.
My Missingno. doesn't evolve at all, but my 'M keeps trying to become , by natural or otherwise. It's lvl 50 and it still stinks. I don't want to try this on Yellow version because
(1) Missingno. is even more unstable, and
(2) I don't want to erase my great, non-glitched file.

It is possible for Missingno. or 'M to morph into a Rhydon (check several posts prior). When you encounter Missingno. the screen stays black longer than normal. When you see Missingno. or 'M, the sixth item in the bag gets +128 more copies. Other than it messing up Hall of Fame or its potentially dangerous nature (but not with me because I have good luck with this stuff always), it's just one weird Pokemon that its back image is always different.

EDIT: Yep. There is the fun bit of making all the trainer sprites appear backwards as well as Pokemon sprites in battle. That happens right after you catch Missingno. or 'M, and also if you switch one of the aforementioned into the head slot.
On the session you actually captured a glitch, the backwards thing is not "fixed" until you turn your Gameboy off. If you turn your Gameboy back on, the battle sprites will return to normal (even if you left the glitch in the head slot). To enter "backwards mode", swap Missingno. or 'M into the lead slot, and then prepare to make bad puns about Razor Leaf and such. If you swap a regular Pokemon back into the lead, the "backwards mode" will eventually turn off.

Am I the only one who noticed one small but possibly very crucial detail to those who want to learn the true nature of the glitches; the fact that all glitches have names like 'M, a, A, LM4 and the like, whereas MISSINGNO. has an arranged, if not weird, name. This gives me the thinking that MISSINGNO., at least, was put in there on purpose. Any theories? Brainstorms?

Wasn't it birthed by the same empty dex entries as the Mew glitch? Random empty slots for extra pokemon came up with the M' ghost? And had to be triggered by surfing Cinnabar island? Sommat to that effect anyway.

OK, let me clarify the origin of Missingno.:

Missingno. has to do with the hex values. The lowest possible hex number that can incorporate 151 Pokemon (remember, the Mew here is legit) is 255 (FF in hex), and there must be a 0 (00 in hex), making a total of 256 entries.

Nintendo couldn't have left those empty, so they had to fill it with something - namely Missingno., 'M, .4, A, and a hundred and one more besides. (256-151=105.) Why it's called Missingno. I can't guess, but I guess they called it that because it's Pokemon #000. Missingno. means "Missing Number", and its Japanese name, Ketsuban, means "Missing Number".

So the Surskit of Destiny and Raichu are both half-right.

OMG!!!! I was surfing along cinnibar and I found a channeler. And so I tried to run and I couldn't So I battle the channeler and sent out "MISSINGNO." would this screw up my game? At least I won with snorlax

Fighting trainers will only happen, as bobashotmace mentioned, if you have symbols in your name, i.e. !, ?, PK, MN, and so on. You'll fight trainers with screwed up Pokemon, either all lvl 32, or levels far above 100. My name in the Blue Version is "DNA" so I haven't seen one.

I have caught a Missingno. before (it was LM4) and it evolved into Clefairy and then Nidoking immediately after. Using an emulator, I plan to obtain every single Missingno. possible on RBY.

Both guides are helpful (particularly the first one) and should help anyone examining this strange phenomenon.
